Family vacation

We had a wonderful stay at Cragmere - the villa is lovely with plenty of space for everyone to spread out - both private space and common areas made it so easy for 9 people to enjoy the villa. Jackie was amazing and so helpful - she was responsive and gave us great advice all week. The location was great and easy to travel from the villa all around the island. Everyone had a blast - highly recommend this villa.

Secluded luxury

The view from this house is stunning. You won’t want to venture far from the grounds of this house. Sun and warm breezes from sunrise to sunset.

We had a wonderful stay at Cragmere. The villa sits atop a dramatic cliff with various outdoor spaces for enjoying the warm weather and near constant refreshing breezes. There were comfortable outdoor day beds perfect for reading. The pool caught the late afternoon sun. Every bedroom was comfortable with its own en suite bathroom. The kitchen was well equipped with basic supplies. The location of the villa allowed for walking to the Sun Life smoothie shop, the wonderful Le Shack restaurant and the restaurants of the Crane resort. Cabs were easy to obtain for our longer trips around the island. The villa manager Jackie and her daughter / assistant manager Alisa were very responsive before and during our stay. They helped us hire an excellent cook for a couple of our nights (Hilda). Our stay at Cragmere was relaxing and comfortable, I will definitely plan to go back. Plus we rented the next door villa Windermere the same week, making for a convenient compound for our large family group.

Great Vacation for the family

View is outstanding. Pool/patio/daybeds/hot tub/etc are great ways to enjoy the days. Food choices at the Crane resort and nearby (Marco Polo) exceeded expectations. Will definitely plan on return visit. Visit Foul Bay beach just south of the house. Its a 3min drive and huge beach with almost no one around. And Crane beach is just north with more people and activities.

Simply amazing!

I have no word to describe how beautiful and perfect this place is! The view is simply out of this world and the house is amazing! We were 6 adults and 3 teenagers staying in the 5 bedrooms and it was perfect! We had such a great time just staring at the view and enjoying the bay. If you like waves, you will be well served!The property manager, Jackie, is simply amazing. She booked us a fishing trip, an amazing catamaran day and the nicest spot at ale Zen restaurant. She answered all of our request in a timely manner and always there to help if we needed to! Once again, thank you for this amazing time at Cragmere. Paradise on Earth

RPC Year End Celebration

This place is spectacular. Really hits you right when you walk in. Each bedroom has a bathroom & King Beds (1 room has a Queen). We hired Chef Willis which was a true game changer. So worth the money it was like having a restaurant in your home. Shopped, cooked and cleaned up. Simply priceless. The surf is very rough on this side but for the more athletic taking the stairs behind the house to the small private beach (during low tide) was really special. Highly recommend this place. Le Shack was a great restaurant for drinks and dinner. 5 minute walk away. We loved it so much we booked it again for next year same time The advantage of heading down to the equator in January is that it’s guaranteed warm. Mid 80’s and the pool and ocean are warm too. You can’t go wrong here. .

Incredible Stay

I stayed here with my sister and cousin for a girl's trip and we had an amazing time. The pictures on the listing don't do the house justice. There was so much space both inside and outside to relax and enjoy. Jackie, the house manager, was absolutely incredible. I had a phone call with her before we arrived so she could provide recommendations and she also was able to book excursions and dinner reservations for us, making our trip stress free. She also saved the day when we were having difficulty finding a taxi so we could get to our dinner reservation in time. She was able to send a taxi our way and even set up a ride for us when we had a very early departure time for our flight home. We also chose to have a cook make us dinner the night we arrived so we could relax at the house and Hilda was amazing! The food was delicious and it was great to have a home cooked Bajan meal. I could go on and on about the stay. We would absolutely stay here again.

Spectacular views!

I stayed here for one week with friends and family to celebrate my birthday. The place and all it offers did not diaappoint. The breathtaking views are unmatched. Jackie the property manager was very welcomjng and responsive to our needs. I could not ask for a better host. All the bedrooms have their own bathrooms, an amazing feature that gives everyone their space. I loved the privacy that this place affords. I went for late night swims and took a nap on the day bed outdoors that overlooked those stunning views. One down side, the area is secluded so you'll need a taxi but Jackie will help with that. NO REGRETS! I feel such joy having stayed here on this mid- October trip. This was so special and I will be back! Shout out to Tameka the housekeeper! She is a gem. Book now! Life is too short and you deserve it.

Memory...lane

Planned to be in Barbados with my oldest nephew and his family to be part of a documentary. Within 6 weeks my sister and brother in law both died as well as some family pets. A perfect locale to rejoice in the goodness of family love, share memories and bask in the love of the Barbadian culture. We made friends with several taxi drivers who took us to scheduled afternoon and evening events and then returned to our serene environment. Walking to the Crane resort was relaxing...watching some monkeys cross the road into the resort made my day as I love monkeys but was startled when the wet nose of one caught me from behind. At the last minute the kids could not make it but know how much fun this home would be for all ages....day and night. Thanking you Matt and Caroline for sharing this jewel.

Amazing!!!

My husband wanted to spend his 50th birthday in Barbados, so I started researching houses 2 years prior. When I came across this house, I fell in love with it, so I immediately contacted the owner, and he graciously agreed to reserve the house for us. We anxiously awaited our vacation in Barbados, so when the house exceeded our expectations, we were exhilarated. The house is absolutely beautiful, and the location is perfect, especially if you're looking to avoid the hustle and bustle of the West Coast. I can't say enough good things about the caretaker, Carolyn, as she's truly FANTASTIC plus Hilda's cooking is fabulous!! We have rented many houses over the past 20 years, and this was the best one! I researched the island prior to our visit, so our days were filled with excursions, but we loved coming back to the quiet house so we could play cards or swim. Close places to eat. Cutter's has great food, especially breakfast. We ate dinner at Dis Ole House, and it was delicious. I want to thank Matt for sharing his beautiful home, thank Carolyn for being a spectacular caretaker and thank Hilda for cooking us 2 incredible dinners. Hope to see you again soon!! The Woodard's

Great property, excellent place for a family retreat

We had a great time at Cragemere Villa! The property is maintained so well despite the challenges from the salt and sea air. Carolyn is very available and very helpful - we had her help us with groceries upon arrival and booking a chef (Hilda!) for the first night so we didn't need to think about dinner. Couple of pointers for future renters: 1. You can get down to a small beach just under the cliffs of the villa but there are about 50 steps that are not very stable at some points. When we were there, Barbados was suffering from a seaweed issue so we couldn't really spend time down there, but we did explore just once. It has gorgeous shallow caves, but note that it's probably not the safest for elderly or small kids. 2. The pool does not have a fence around it. Our little guy can swim and we were not worried about this, but if you come with little ones who cannot, you will need to be vigilant. 3. Rent a car so you can explore the rest of the island and easily drive to the Hilton Crane Resort. FYI - driving is British style so be prepared! 4. Book dinner reservations in advance - lovely spots at the Crane Resort which is just down the road! 5. Mosquitos are fierce at night, but the no-see-ums are worse. Recommend bug spray for sleeping at night (and keeping the doors in the bedrooms shut during the day) otherwise you'll be a bit of a buffet for the bugs in the evening. We all had bites! 6. Groceries are NY-level prices. Do yourself a favor though and buy fresh fish at Oisten's Fish Market 20 mins away - better selection than the grocery stores. Overall, beautiful property, great communication from the property manager, island is beautiful and easy to navigate!

Perfect vacation spot

From check in to check out the experience at Cragmere was top notch! Caroline made sure we had all of the items I requested stocked in the kitchen. The house was immaculately cleaned and welcoming. The view from every room was amazing and made it hard to leave…so we didn’t so that often. We did venture out for a super catamaran cruise with Silver Moon, dinner that surpassed all others at QP Bistro and a fabulous dinner and show at Harbor Lights. We walked to Le Shack twice for dinner and loved that place! Had fabulous food and service in this small quaint open air restaurant. Ate lunch at Crane twice mostly out of curiosity and convenience and it was just what you’d expect from a resort. If you want to be away from the crowds but within a cab ride with Emmanuel Tours to excursions, this is the place to be! Watch out for little crabs that get in the bedrooms and the humidity can make the floors slick when the heat from outside comes in the cool rooms in the morning. Having the rental van was very convenient for trips to the store. Would 100% recommend this property and hope to one day come back! Everyone we met was over-the-top friendly! Barbados has a permanent part of my heart now!

Extraordinary Estate

We stayed at the Cragmere for 12 days in February, 2020. The property is amazing, and appears just as shown in the pictures. The property was very clean, had nice amenities, and was perfect for two families and also for a birthday celebration of friends. The exterior of the home is breath-taking with the cliff, infinity pool, and outdoor living spaces. The air conditioned bedrooms were a luxury. Daily cleaning services were great and the housekeeper was thorough and attentive. Alexis (property manager) was wonderful and responsive. She provided invaluable assistance with preparing for our stay and helping us to plan many details of our visit for both our family and the celebration we hosted. She pays close attention to detail and was exceptional to interact with. We also utilized Hilda for private chef services. She was friendly, dependable, flexible and cooked wonderful local food dishes for us. We also utilized services recommended by Alexis including in-home massages, deep sea fishing, and group transportation services. One reason we selected this property was to have a birthday celebration for my husband. Our friends (about 40 of them) stayed at the Crane and were able to walk over to the property for visits and the celebration. This was a perfect set up for a large group to have proximity to each other. The Crane was accommodating with our guests and transportation, amenities, etc. The birthday celebration on the outdoor veranda in the evening was one for the record books. Truly spectacular. I would highly recommend this property. It is on the east side of the island, so away from bustling Bridgetown and the touristy areas, but yet an easy drive to where you want to go. The management and staff were incredible, which can make or break a destination trip. We will be back, soon.

Simply breathtaking. Exceeded expectations!

To say this property is breathtaking is actually a huge understatement. As beautiful as the photos on this site were, they still don’t do it justice. The Cragmere team was very helpful. Matthew guided me through the reservations process then turned me over to Alexis who manages the property. She is a valuable resource for questions and helping prepare for your stay. She connected us with awesome resources for excursions, transportation, and meals. Sara was there to meet us and give us a tour of the villa and get us settled in. All the people we interacted with (housekeeper, gardener, pool guy) truly exemplified what the incredible hospitality of Barbados is all about! One of the options you have available to you when staying at the Cragmere is to have a personal cook to prepare meals. This is not something my frugal family would normally do, but we booked Hilda to prepare three evening dinners and Ralph as a bartender on days where we planned to stay at the villa. Hilda will shop for and prepare you some of the most incredible, authentic Bajan meals and is one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet. We took a liking to Ralph from the first rum punch he served us, and he catered to our every need. The Cragmere Villa is absolutely beautiful, but Hilda and Ralph may have been the most important part of our vacation. Simply put…the best location on the island in my opinion. Quiet and away from the hustle/crowds of the west side, but close enough to not be secluded. Steady ocean breezes that made even the hottest days comfortable and the nights even sometimes cool. The sprawling property gave our group of 9 plenty of room to spread out. The beds were extremely comfortable and the kitchen and living areas finely appointed. For beach time…walk over to Crane Beach for Foul Bay Beach. It’s just a short walk up the street to Marco Polo for a great dinner out. There’s a great smoothie shack near there too. One comment worth noting…do not be put off by any finishes that look corroded/worn out on any light fixtures or appliances you see in the property. While they may look neglected, I learned that it’s very common on the east coast for metal to quickly rust/corrode due to the constant salty ocean breezes that blow through the house. Honestly, if you notice the few places where this has happened, you are missing the point of this vacation. This villa is perfect as is! Simply stunning!

Best view!

This property has the most amazing views and outdoor space. The pool was wonderful and the landscaping is beautiful. Very private and within walking distance to the Crane resort which had great restaurants. A wonderful house where you can completely relax.

This hideaway spot, sandwiched between Crane Beach and Fowl Bay Beach was ideal for our 2 families!

This house was wonderful! Perched on a hilltop with a stretch of incredible and dynamic vistas! With waves crashing, the wind whistling through the palm trees- it was heaven! The icing on the cake was a full moon that rose up to illuminate the turquoise waters below. It was pure magic. We were celebrating my sister's 60th birthday and we had both our families together. We chose this house because we thought it would be more fun for our college age kids who were looking for waves and surfing action. The house works well for those who want to get away from the touristy section of the West coast of Barbados and have the excitement of the East side which is more dramatic. We had Hilda cook 3 nights which was perfect home cooking. Cathy helped arrage our transportation and made sure we had everything we needed to have a perfect vacation. Thank you. We hopefully will be back.

Spectacular home in a perfect location

The home is spectacular and the location and views beyond anything we have seen before. The attention to detail is incredible and the manager was always available to help or provide recommendations. Unforgettable vacation

Our vacation was unforgettable. Warmly welcomed by the house manager, we had groceries waiting for us and settled right into life in paradise. The house, pool, and daybed overlooking the cove were all clean and beautiful. The cove, unvisited by anyone during our stay but my girlfriend and me, is populated with sand hued pink by breakdown of corals, families of cute little crabs, and stone pillars erupting out of the earth, with the bases eroded from millennia of tidal action shaping them like mushrooms. Barbados, outside the hurricane belt, offered up humid but sunny weather for our August trip, one of the few places we could go at that time of year in the Caribbean with reliable weather. Renting a car with AC for the week was key, day trips around the island, including scuba diving with Peter and Gaird (best scuba team ever!) at West Side Scuba made returning home to Windermere even more delicious. Rented a catamaran for a sunset dinner cruise (epic, Stacey and Nick were the best!), did some fancy dining in Holetown (great dinner options up there, also beautiful area with marine preserves to snorkel at), and fed sea turtles, all in a short week we didn't want to end.
