Aloha. After the devastating Lahaina fire, and with deep respect to the families and businesses that were affected, west Maui is welcoming guests back. By staying here and patronizing local businesses, you will be putting locals back to work and providing an important source of tax revenue for the state of Hawaii and the county of Maui. Your host Clever Trevor stayed in this unit several times in late 2023 and 2024 and made it a point to dine out and tip well. Clever Trevor was thanked for providing that vital economic support. In May of 2024 Maui's Mayor proposed phasing out certain vacation rentals in apartment zones beginning in July 2025 to hopefully covert some of those properties to long term rentals - if it happens it WILL NOT affect this unit at Honua Kai which is zoned Hotel. This is KONEA 142, the KING of the GROUND FLOOR 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo-tel luxury homes at the Honua Kai Resort & Spa on Ka'anapali Beach Maui. Aloha. I am Clever Trevor Alt and I proudly own and manage this property.

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION! This private oasis is located on the GROUND FLOOR of the private NORTH side of Honua Kai - you don't face other units. KONEA 142 is the ONLY northwest facing ground floor 2 bedroom 2 bath condominium home on the north side of the Konea building. This is the quietest and most private part of Honua Kai - but it has the EASIEST ACCESS to all resort amenities. You can come and go securely from the back door facing the yard or the front door to the hallway.

VIDEO TOURS: See the 2014 video tour of my unit and the nearby pool, and the 2018 Matterport tour of the unit. After the video was made the living room TV was upgraded to a 65 inch 4k Samsung hung on the wall. In early 2023 more upgrades were made (see pictures):

1) New sleeper couch.
2) New side chairs.
3) 3 new beautiful koa wood Minke fans with lights installed in the bedrooms and living room.
4) New luxury vinyl plank flooring replaced the carpet.
5) New dining chairs.
6) New barstools.

Enjoy the open spacious feeling with 11 foot vaulted ceilings ~ only on the GROUND FLOOR ~ and 1,230 square feet of interior living space. You get 2 master suites divided by an open living and dining room and kitchen floor plan. Nano Glass doors OPEN THE ENTIRE WALL to a HUGE lanai with outdoor dining and lounging furniture, bordering your own private lawn and garden area. You get 420 MORE SQUARE FEET of furnished outdoor living space! We are a short 1 minute walk to the pools, Viking barbecue grill area, Duke's Restaurant and Bar, and the beach and Pacific Ocean. I've installed a KEYED lock on the lanai door for secure access. Super close to Whaler's general store, gym, spa & parking.

Due to our unique location on the north end of the resort, you'll enjoy ultimate privacy and a secure back door entrance that is all yours. Our front door is very close to the door to the interior courtyard. You reach all of the attractions of this gorgeous resort MUCH FASTER than if you stayed above the ground floor - no waiting for an elevator!

Our GROUND FLOOR location is so CONVENIENT for hanging out at the pools or beach to pop into your own condominium to use the bathroom, freshen your drinks, have a snack, or grab the provided beach chairs, cooler, life jacket for your child, etc! Our guests prefer the PRIVACY of our "exterior" northwest facing lanai over the condos across the hall from us - their lanais face the interior courtyard which gives other condos across the courtyard a view into their units.

My condo has the most convenient ground floor location on the private north side of the Konea building and offers the best VALUE and best OVERALL EXPERIENCE available at Honua Kai. I highly recommend considering purchasing a trip cancellation insurance policy and consider adding a cancel for any reason rider. See squaremouth dot com. Surprisingly affordable.

If you're renting a vehicle (which I recommend), I have an acquaintance who privately rents a fleet of late model Honda Pilots and convertible Jeep Commanders for less than you'd pay one of the vendors at the airport and they deliver so you don't wait around. I also provide all my guests with 5 pages of recommendations for Maui dining and activities gleaned from about 50 visits over the last decade. Our local knowledge and pro tips are part of what you're paying for and I appreciate the opportunity to add value to your vacation experience by answering questions and making recommendations.

Perfect

We stayed 7 nights over the Christmas holiday and everything was PERFECT. Trevor's communication is top-notch and thorough. The property is promoted well and in-person it checks off everything - amenities, cleanliness. We particularly loved that the 2nd bedroom could have the bed split into 2 beds for our sons. The 1st floor access is slick and the lanai is awesome. We would HIGHLY recommend this property and found the value to be well worth it.

Amazing!

We totally enjoyed our week stay at Trevor’s ground floor property in the Konea tower. Unit was clean, well stocked and as pictured. Like other reviewers mention, being on the ground floor is so convenient. Check in and check out were a breeze and Trevor and Monty replied quickly to some questions we had.

Trevor is amazing

Room was exactly as pictures showed. Trevor had excellent communication from beginning to end and gave us winderdul recommendations while we were there. The unit was easily accessible to the pools, beach and parking. The unit has a closet with chairs, snorkels, bogie boards etc. Only two down falls If you have a car, the unit is close to the parking garage but to get to the parking garage, you have to drive through the entire poperty. There is a gate closer but it was not available to use. The resort has a lazy river which is not lazy, which means it does not move..floaties are to buy only. Wish I knew. This two down falls have nothing to do with this units owner just a fyi for guests.

Beautiful Honua Kai - Konea 142

My husband and I and our two adult kids had a wonderful week here. We loved the ground floor entry and spacious lanai. Everything was as described. Trevor and Monty were very responsive to questions and ensured that we had no concerns that were not addressed. We appreciate Trevor's recommendations for restaurants and highly suggest a meal at the Sensei Grill, our favourite of the trip. 5 stars for location, amenities and service.

Awesome Family Vacay

We loved our stay at the Honua Kai! The condo was absolutely perfect for our family of 4. Spacious, clean and well equipped. It was awesome to have a few boogie boards, beach chairs and cooler available to us. We were really happy with everything and didn’t need any assistance but Monty was attentive and available if we did. The resort is beautiful and everything was easily accessible. We also enjoyed having Duke’s on the property and took full advantage of their poolside drinks & snacks. We were so sad to leave but will be back ASAP!

Beautiful Stay In Maui!

We had the best time in Maui and the owner and property manager were very helpful and prompt in getting back to us with any questions. The pools were amazing and we rented the cabanas several times throughout the week. We would defiantly return and stay there! Thank you

Great place to stay!

This is an outstanding ground-level condo. Close to the pool and ocean. We all had such a great time. The owner was really responsive to our needs and provided some very helpful information to make our stay all the more enjoyable. We plan to return and we recommend it to others..

Excellent property and experience as well as an ideal location for both access to the beach and various pools. Trevor & Monty were very responsive and strong communicators with on the point recommendations for excursions and several restaurant options. We would highly recommend this unit and resort!

Summer 2022

We stayed here in June 2022. The property property was just as described. Spacious, clean and stocked will all that we needed for our 8 night stay. The property manager, Monty, was welcoming and easy to contact for any questions we had. Trevor, gave us all kinds of recommendations before we arrived. My husband and I appreciate them both. The resort was beautiful. Easy access to the beach, about a 3min walk from our room. The towel system was so easy. The only challenge we had was with parking. The resort has underground parking with some limitations. But there is parking above ground. You’ll just have walk a little bit back to the room. Overall we would definitely recommend this place to families.

Perfect Maui Getaway

We absolutely loved every minute of our stay in this Maui property. The rental is spacious and had everything we needed to make our stay a wonderful one (kitchenware, bedding, patio furniture, beach gear, cooler, beach towels, etc). The unit is steps from all of the resorts many amenities and an easy, convenient quick walk to the beautiful beach we came here for! We were also walking distance to a grocery store and food truck park that made for a fun dinner off-property. We would stay here again on our next visit to Maui!

The Condo at Honua Kai Resort

This beautiful condo is in the perfect location at the resort. It is fully equipped and has everything you would need for a truly enjoyable stay. It has very close sandy beach access and is next to several excellent swimming pool choices. Indoor parking included, and again, very close to shopping and restaurants. The communication with the owner was excellent and always responsive for any question we ever had. This property is a real gem, and I gladly recommend it for anyone looking for a week or more for a relaxing family vacation in Maui.

Great stay

We had a great time staying at Trevor's property. The unit was clean and everything was as advertised down to the beach chairs and umbrella etc. The ground floor unit was very convenient to the pool and other amenities. Check in was a breeze, and Monty was very responsive, he answered all my questions within minutes. All in all, a great stay and will definitely stay again when we go back to Maui next time.

Even better than expected!

The resort, condo and location are 10/10. Our family had the best week together here. The condo is huge, clean and has everything you need to have a stress free trip. With having 2 kids, being on the ground floor was such a blessing, literally a 1 minute walk to the pools, Dukes and the beach. I will be staying here again.

Excellent property - as advertised!

The property is on the first floor close to the pool & beach (1 minute walk). Property owner was great and provided good documentation on local attractions prior to our arrival. If you have small children, this is a great unit that is fully stocked with a PS4, boogey boards, beach chairs/umbrella, snorkeling gear, cooler, and more. Internet is strong as well and will support streaming, & etc. I highly recommend this unit!

My name is Trevor Alt. A work injury forced my retirement from a 19 career as a firefighter for the Reno Fire Department, after 10 years as a California attorney. It was a challenging but fulfilling career switch and it convinced me that there is nothing better for my soul than serving and protecting humanity. I am a fitness and health nut and I exercise religiously. I enjoy cycling, weightlifting, and skiing, and I'm trying to surf a little.

When I was a young attorney, I starting saving as much as I could and since then I have invested with the goal of living in Hawaii someday. Purchasing this property at the incredible Honua Kai Resort was a big step toward achieving that goal.

I'm now spending several months per year on Maui and now that I'm an empty nester I'm reviving my golf game. I've got good local knowledge regarding Maui golf courses, so please ask. I provide all my guests with 5 pages of recommendations for things to do and places to dine on Maui, and ways to save money and get great value based on all my great experiences on the island, and I don't mind sharing them even if you don't book my ground floor home. This is a legal, licensed vacation rental home. I pay my team well and you'll see that I've spared no expense on the furnishings and toys when you visit. For example, over the winter of 2022/2023 I hired designers and updated the furniture, flooring, and fans and personally spent several days deep cleaning and touching up paint. I've been visiting West Maui all my life and the Honua Kai Resort & Spa is the most luxurious resort ever built here. When this ideal ground floor property became available in 2014 I pounced! I love Duke's Restaurant and the HUGE aquatic playground with its 3 themed pool complexes. I love the grand luxury of the Honua Kai Resort and Spa - I feel like a KING when I come here!
I chose this GROUND FLOOR unit on the north side of the Konea tower at the Honua Kai resort because it is quiet and peaceful here yet it's the most convenient to all resort amenities. We don't look across a courtyard into someone else's unit (like the inner courtyard units). I believe that my combination of ground floor convenience, HUGE indoor and outdoor living area, and private location in the resort offers the best experience and the best value available at Honua Kai, which is the best resort in West Maui, which is the best part of the best Hawaiian island. Maui No Ka Oi! I always try to get a lot for my money and I know my guests want value too - here it is!

My favorite aspect of our second home at Honua Kai is the extra space and convenience on the GROUND FLOOR! I've installed a keyed lock for the back doors for secure back door access. Everything is so close and easy to get to from our condo. It's great that our back door is a ONE MINUTE walk to the Viking BBQs, so unlike upper floor guests who need the elevator, our food arrives hot at our dining table.

My favorite features of the condominium itself is the custom glass Nano doors that allow you to open the entire wall and seamlessly integrate the tropical outdoors into our vacation home. I also love the vaulted ceilings that you only get on the ground floor. It feels so roomy! The new beautiful Minke fans installed December 2022 move more air than the ones they replaced and provide better lighting too.

A beach-side boardwalk accommodates walkers and joggers for miles of spectacular ocean views. The sun sets between the nearby islands of Lanai and Molokai. It's a mile and a half walk south from Honua Kai to Black Rock, and under two miles from Honua Kai to Whaler's Village. At Honua Kai you are on the world famous Ka'anapali Beach but well away from the crowds that you'll sometimes find in the more densely populated area south of Black Rock.

Our unit is great for 2 couples since each couple gets a bedroom suite with its own bathroom with a large living area between.

Our unit is also wonderful for families or other groups up to 6 since the second bedroom can be made up with 2 twins and the new sleeper couch is queen size.

I've made the unit very 'kid friendly' with a pack n' play portable crib, 2 bed bumpers, a Fisher Price portable high chair / booster seat, and sippy cups. I have Netflix & Amazon streaming services.

I also love to "wow" my guests by providing things you wouldn't expect, such as a rice cooker, an instant pot, a closet full of beach chairs, boogie boards, beach umbrella, cooler, and more.

I updated the furniture & flooring in 22-23.
