Enjoy a relaxing retreat in a cozy South Joshua Tree Guest House. The Guest House is open and airy 1000 square foot studio on a private 4 acre gated property with beautiful north facing sunset views.

The bedroom area has a queen sized bed and remodeled bathroom with shower. On the other side of the studio there is one or optionally 2 twin size beds that can be set up separately or also be pushed together for a Cal King size if needed.

The living room area has a super comfy down-filled mid-century couch and ottoman in front of the fireplace. There is a stereo with AUX, Bluebooth, CD & DVD player, turntable, Alexa, and Apple AirPlay inputs connected to a large flat screen TV with Roku interface in the living area for all of your entertainment needs! An interesting selection of CDs, DVDs, records, and books are provided for use during your stay.

Enjoy our cute kitchen is fully stocked with plates, flatware, glassware and starters for your meals and both a charcoal and propane barbeque grill outside.

There is a private patio with with table and chairs and a fire pit that faces north and features beautiful views - especially great for star gazing at night! There is a secluded Jacuzzi J-LXL hot tub with lounge seat on a slab just a few steps off the patio. The location is private and sits amongst Joshua Trees and desert flora and offers panoramic views of the sunset, surrounding mountains, city lights, and amazing stars at night. There are 2 hammocks for lounging under a large shade tree next to the carport where you can park your car under cover.

An Autel Level 2 40 amp EV charger with Tesla adapter is available.

The Modern Guesthouse is very conveniently located near several great shops and restaurants and it was also easy to get to the JT Music Festival from there. It’s cozy, comfortable, and has a very good vibe. Mark, the host is a great communicator, responds quickly and had lots of good suggestions on things to do while we were there. I definitely recommend this location

This was the perfect spot to unwind! We were at the end of a 26 day road trip and wanted to decompress. As promised, the place is very private and quiet, but still very close to town and to the park entrance.The guest house has delightful decor with unique items throughout. There is an excellent entertainment center for TV and music. The EV charger was a convenience for us and was in great working order. The host made it clear that he was available at all times, should we need him, but his informational notebook was so complete that we just met him upon our departure. His recommendations were wonderful. Best of all is the stargazing from the hot tub and patio!

Great Guest House

This place is a great stay and exactly as the pictures show. Its a studio but the space is larger than I expected. It has a great view of the landscape, especially at night of the city lights down the hill.We found ourselves enjoying the large and very eclectic collection of vinyl and record player. And also relaxed in the hammocks which are shaded buy a large tree.We're looking forward to future return visits.

Relaxing Weekend

More than we expected

We only stayed 2 nights so we were unable to take advantage of all the amenities this property offered: hot tub, hammocks, fire pit, records, and view. It is adorably decorated and spacious for a couple.

Amazing Oasis!

This place was an amazing home away from home it has everything you need and perfect for getting cozy, listening to some tunes, and playing the many games they provide in their stay. I hope to come back again waking up to silence and drinking coffee on the porch is unmatched!

Great time in Joshua Tree

We rented this on a whim to make a weekend after business in Phoenix. The property is a little has a nostalgic vibe ( to us who were in college in the 70s) but has every convenience to assure a relaxing weekend, close to Joshua Tree gates, hot tub under phenomenal stars, close saloon!

Winter Escape

Rockin' Retreat

I booked with Mark to get some fresh air & re-focus from the fires in LA. His guest house was just what I needed. His vinyl collection and stereo was a major highlight. I didn't stream anything all week! I heard some old favorites and also found some new ones.The kitchen was very well stocked with appliances, as well. Food processor, popcorn maker... If you need it, he's probably got it!Would visit again, for sure.- Samuel

Amazing relaxation (and retro vibe) stay!!

First, the communication, information, and directions were superb! Thanks Mark! Yes, it is down a dirt road but loved the location - away from the main road and a spacious yard/area but literally just minutes from everything you need. The retro vibe was refreshingly cool! If you want comforting, nostalgic, and retro - this is for you! The furnishings are funky yet comfortable. Kitchen is small but had everything we needed (cooked several meals). Layout is like a studio with the bed being in the same room as the living area (but set off a bit). Bed was super comfortable! Being able to listen to records was great. Used the hot tub twice a day during our stay - was perfect for getting set for a hike and then to relax after the hike. Location is convenient to the west entrance to JTNP. Overall, it was just an amazing stay!

Best place to stay ever!

I can’t imagine anywhere locally I would enjoy staying more tbh. The most perfect home away from home I can imagine, my only regret is not staying longer.

Great home base for exploring Joshua Tree

Lovely views of the desert and mountains, perfect location to explore Joshua Tree. Hosts were super helpful and easy to reach, loved listening to the record collection and mornings in the hot tub. We would happily return.

Saddleback Guest House

Lots of privacy and great location near Joshua Tree National Park. Very comfortable for two adults and everything was clean. Communication with owner was good and I would recommend this place.

Nice, clean close to attractions

The home was very clean, well equipped and comfortable. The retro feel was exceptional. Cool furnishings and well appointed. The record player and sound system was great. We played a ton of the vinyl albums all night. Thank you Mark

An oasis in the desert

My wife and I loved our stay at this location. Everything was as it had been pictured in the listing: vintage and spotless. We really enjoyed spinning some records, playing a few of the retro games, relaxing in the hammocks, soaking in the hot tub and having a fire in the fireplace. Dave was a fantastic host, very responsive to any inquiries. He even had a three ring binder of helpful info on the kitchen table. It included practical info about the property, such as the check-out process as well as some nice-to-know information like his personally written reviews on local restaurants and nearby attractions. The property has a beautiful view of the mountains with an ideal view of the sunrise over the mountains with Joshua trees silhouetted in the foreground. I had the pleasure of watching a bunch of hummingbirds buzz around the flowering shrubs on the property while I was taking a soak in the hot tub. Other wildlife sightings included a few great horned owls which we saw roosting in a nearby as well as the black tailed jackrabbits they were hunting . I’ve never seen these birds so close. It was a real treat. We loved how quiet the property was while still being close to Joshua Tree National Park and some conveniences like restaurants/gas stations/grocery stores. We will definitely be coming back for another visit.

We recently relocated permanently to Joshua Tree from the Silverlake area of Los Angeles. They operate several vacation rentals in Joshua Tree. Laura teaches yoga and owned a yoga studio - Glendale Yoga in Glendale, CA - which is now closed but operates virtually from Joshua Tree. We both grew up in Cincinnati, OH but have lived in California for 30 years. We love everything that California has to offer but are particularly enamored with the beautiful scenery and interesting community of Joshua Tree.
