Coveted large home, ski-in ski-out location

Because location matters, we welcome you to Trails Edge. Whether you’re planning a day of champagne powder skiing in the winter or hiking and mountain biking in the summer, all you have to do is step out the door. Choose to ski down to the mountain base via the Right O Way ski run (easy green run) or take a short walk up to the Thunderhead lift to access the top of the mountain for “first tracks”. The ski runs make great trails for hiking, mountain biking and even playing a round of disc golf on the 19 “hole” course during our gorgeous summer months. Our decks are a great place to watch hot air balloons rise over the valley, gaze up at Mt Werner and the Steamboat ski resort and of course our beautiful mountain sunsets. With the new addition, the deck is larger and features a gas grill and seating area.

After a day of outside fun, return to the house for some time to relax. Enjoy a soak in the hot tub, watch a movie or your favorite ballgame on the big screen TV, play a game of ping pong, or curl up with a good book and wait for the sunset – you won’t be disappointed. Your group can prepare a terrific meal in our newly remodeled kitchen which features a top of the line Jenn-Air range/oven. The open floor plan will invite everyone to gather for food and conversation around the dining room and breakfast bar with additional seating in the solarium.

When you’re ready to call it a night, we offer 5 bedrooms which sleep 14. Beyond the bedrooms is a redesigned queen+ sleeper sofa by American Leather which promises comfort for 2 in the upper level solarium. The lower level bedroom also doubles as a TV/ rec room and features accordion doors for privacy. There are 5 bathrooms, 2 new with this years addition and the other 3 with updates and remodeling completed for the 2014/15 season.

Just minutes away is charming, downtown Steamboat Springs. Filled with an abundance of fantastic restaurants and lots of shopping, it’s a great place to spend a day or evening. Be sure to visit Howelson Hill where many US Olympians train for Nordic ski jumping. Or have some fun of your own with snow tubing in the winter and riding the alpine slide in the summer, with an ice arena just a few steps down the street.
There are 3-4 parking spaces available. During snow season our road is rated '4 WHEEL DRIVE'. There are no deliveries by UPS & FedEx during these months. We strongly recommend 4 wheel drive vehicles only during this season. (Yes, the snow is that good!)

This crew loved their time in this wonderful rental in a beautiful location! We cheered our runner through 100 miles of the run rabbit run, and it was the perfect home base for the crew & landing pad for our runner. Todd was the perfect host! The only recommendation we would suggest is more wine glasses & drinking glasses.

Location, location, location

We really enjoyed our stay at the Trail’s Edge Chalet. The 3-level home had plenty of space for our group of 15 adults. The location was excellent for easy access to slopes, and the views were amazing.

Excellent Experience - Would Return

The house was awesome. Host was really accommodating and kind. The location is top notch and it has everything you need. My only feedback, which is not negative, just an FYI, was the host does stay on the property at the Mother-In-Law suite which was not communicated ahead of time and I thought we had the entire house to ourselves. Despite that, the host was really great, very accommodating, good communication and very helpful during the stay. Would highly recommend.

Great House and Great Location

We went with a large group of family and friends. This house was perfect, had plenty of space for everyone and was stocked very well. We have been coming to steamboat for years and this was by far the best place we’ve stayed!

Wonderful Ski-in Ski-out House

This is a wonderful house for a large group, right on the ski run. We had a great stay. The house is large, with multiple levels. There is plenty of room to spread out, dine, and visit. There are beautiful views of the mountain from the rooms and balconies. The owner, Todd, was very helpful during our stay. The house was very clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again with a large group.

Thanksgiving Family get together

Our visit was awesome. The house had enough bathrooms for everyone. The kitchen was great with lots of seating room. We loved having the washer and dryer available to wash the towels when needed. We had a great time!!

Great property

We had a great time. Real ski in/ski out removed any hassle with getting the kids on the slopes. Plenty of room to spare for 2 families of 5. The deck with grill and gas fire pit were nice evening hangouts. So many different spots to hang out after a day on the slopes.

Beautiful location!

This lovely home is nestled in the trees alongside a gondola ski lift in Steamboat. Our stay was over the 4th of July holiday. There are many things for a family to do including hiking, biking, exploring the cute town of Steamboat, alpine slide etc. the house is very spacious with plenty of room for the 14 of us to spend out. Todd, our host, was very helpful in meeting our needs.

One of our Best Family Vacations Ever!!

Since 2007, my 5 adult children and all the grandchildren have been enjoying a vacation together every other year. This year, I decided to rent a big house in Colorado. After reviewing what was available to house all of us, I settled on Todd's beautiful home in Steamboat Springs. We had a few people missing because of schedules but ended up with 12 people sleeping in the house and an additional 7 eating our evening meals with us. Everything was so nice. The kitchen is well-stocked with really nice dishes, cookware etc. Each bedroom was very nice. The common areas were roomy and nice too. We had a little trouble with the TV but who cares? No one really wanted to watch it! And we did get it working. The outside deck is so lovely and we really enjoyed the fire-pit table. The gas grill is very nice and we used it several times. All in all, it was a great week and we would encourage you to check it out. Every bathroom has been nicely updated too!

This house was great for our family reunion of 15 people. The kitchen had everything needed and worked to seat all at 2 tables inside and out. House was clean and the 2 Master Suites were exceptional. We could see the gondola and bikers both from the back decks - lots of space. Owner was good to work with. No complaints. Thanks for having us.

Everyone in the family agreed it's the best

Wonderful house. Tons of various spaces. The staircase to the slope is a little work but not much. It looks bigger/longer in the photos. Ski-in and out is really good here. Plan to come back for sure. Owner lives in a unit next door and is friendly, but you only see him if needed.

Perfect house for families

We had a few families stay here over Labor Day weekend. Everyone had plenty of space and lots of room to spread it out. The house had everything we would need including plenty of blankets towels, kitchen utensils etc. Todd was a great host. The views are gorgeous!!

Great location for wedding weekend at Steamboat Resort!

So grateful for our time at Trails Edge! Great location to attend wedding at Steamboat Resort and close to town for groceries, restaurants, and breweries. This house offers room to gather and room to spread out – lots of space to relax. It was perfect for all of our families, and we appreciate being allowed to have our pets stay with us as well. The kitchen was spacious and entertaining the group was so fun. The beds, sheets, pillows were very comfy. It did get warm, but fans were much appreciated, and it cooled off nicely in the evening. Beautiful property, quiet area, truly enjoyable! Keep a look out for the wildlife! We saw moose and bear multiple times! The gang enjoyed sitting on the decks watching wildlife, hot air balloons, and activity on the trails. A good time was had by all! Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!

Anfitrión: Todd Stauffer

After graduating from Steamboat High School in 1981 it has always been my dream to come back to this area. With my parents' passing, I really wanted to keep this special property in the family. It is filled with lots of memories of holidays spent together watching our families grow. So with our children grown and now having grandchildren of our own we decided it was the perfect time to return to the mountain. We are so blessed to be able to live here in Steamboat and be able to share this place with others.

In March 2021 my son Ryan joined me to help run the vacation rental full time. He pretty much has the same opinion of Steamboat and this home. He also loves tacos.

When my parents purchased the land in 1976 my brother, sisters and I were absolutely amazed. We had been vacationing here for several years and were thrilled that they were going to build their home here.

We may be a little biased, but feel we have the best location at Mt Werner. Trails Edge offers not only ski-in/ski-out access, but also spectacular views in a quiet neighborhood setting. The home's 3 levels provide several separate living areas for guests to enjoy different activities.
