The gîte is an annex to a superb building from the second half of the 19th century.
located in Furnaux, a small village in the municipality of Mettet, in the province of Namur.
Furnaux is close to the Molignée valley and Maredesous. Less than half an hour from Namur, Dinant or Givet (France), you will discover a bucolic and rural nature.
Along the building passes the Ravel (pedestrian and bicycle path), on the site of the old railway line 150.
Ideal place for those who seek peace and nature.
cycling or walking tours will delight you.
In a few minutes by car you can visit major Walloon tourist places.

Nice surroundings. The gîte needs some attention

We were a long weekend at this gite, our dog my partner and me. There is enough to do in this region and the location on the bikepath/ former railway was really great. The house itself is sufficiënt for two, and the decoration, especially upstairs, is lovely. our general evaluation is that the gite is sufficient, but we found it not as perfect as described in previous reviews. Moreover, there are a few maintenance parts that need direct attention. First and foremost, the place did not smell well. There was a strong odour of moist in the whole house, but mostly in the bathroom. At night, the bathroom sometimes had a sewage smell. Ventilation helped, but the heating was fairly minimal already. The pellet stove, that could have given extra warmth we did not use because of smoke entering the house. The refrigerator door did not close well, so that our food got wet because of the moist. Finally, as mentioned before, the mattress is old and has holes in it. We believe that some maintenance could bring the gite back to standards.

Charmante Ferienwohnung in guter Lage

Wir haben ganz kurzfristig gebucht und die Vermieter haben es uns ganz einfach gemacht! Die Wohnung war genau wie beschrieben. Die Lage ist zentral, um die schöne Gegend mit Dörfern, Schlössern und Gärten zu erkunden.

Fijn verblijf

Prima vakantiehuis, zeer compleet ingericht, goed bed, fijne douche. Zeker meer waard dan de vraagprijs. Vriendelijk gastheer en -gastvrouw. Prachtige omgeving . Puntje van aandacht misschien het voor ons iets te warme dekbed voor de zomer. Zeker aan te bevelen

Little gem

The house has all the amenities and comfort you need, the large garden offers privacy and the tiny village of Furnaux is so quiet with almost no passing traffic. The location next to a former railway walking path brings you one way in Mettet with all the groceries shops you need or to the peaceful Abbey of Maredsous where beer tasting is waiting for you.

Prachtig verblijf

Je woont even in het mooiste huis van het dorp. De gastfamilie is uiterst behulpzaam, vriendelijk en inschikkelijk. De verblijfplaats overtreft de verwachtingen. Ideaal gelegen, met natuur, wandelingen en fietstochten in directe nabijheid. Het landschap is idyllisch, mer vlakbij oude kloosters, kerken en kastelen. Heerlijke plek om te vertroeven

Encore une fois!

Wij zijn erg tot rust gekomen in deze zeer goed uitgeruste gite. Ook al verbleven wij hier maar 2 nachten, het leek ons veel langer. Rustige en mooie omgeving. Prachtige uitvalsbasis voor verkenning omgeving. Eigenaar kwam ons meteen helpen bij vragen of opmerkingen.

Gezellige studio om te ontspannen

Wij hadden het echt erg naar onze zin, rustige omgeving om lekker te wandelen, prachtige tuin met kippen en eenden, erg sympathieke gastheer en het huisje was voor ons als jong gezin met hond perfect! Erg gezellig ingericht! In de winter zou ik adviseren om toch pantoffels mee e nemen want de stenen vloer is dan wel erg koud! Verder maakte de kachel het gezellig warm! Bedankt!

Zalig weekendje sneeuw

Zeer vriendelijke eigenaars. Vlotte en vriendelijke ontvangst. Alles is aanwezig in het huisje. Heel rustige buurt en toch dichtbij alles om te bezoeken.

Zeer prettige, zeer complete woning in rustige omgeving

We waren zeer verrast hoe compleet deze woning is. Van bedlinnen en handdoeken tot broodrooster, Senseo + nr4 koffiefilterhouder(opschenken met waterkoker) en gratis pallets voor de kachel (aanvulling op de electrische kachels). Eigenaar spreekt alleen frans, maar is zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Zijn echtgenote spreekt wel (beperkt) engels. Slaapkamers zijn ruim en dekbedden voldeden prima in koude tijd (sneeuw gezien). Dat alles aanwezig was scheelt veel aan spullen meenemen. Enige minpuntjes was de gladde vloer van de douchecabine (met handdouche, jets en regendouche), de beperkte hoeveelheid warm water (grote boiler), de enige wc beneden in de badkamer (slaapkamers zijn boven) en dat de badkamer/wc deur niet op slot kan

Mauvais rapport qualité prix

Bel endroit calme et champêtre. Bel accueil. Par contre, à ce tarif, plus de 100€ la nuit, hors saison, nous nous attendions à une prestation de meilleure qualité. En cette période de Covid, la propreté doit être sans faille. Plusieurs cheveux dans le tiroir à couverts et dans le frigo. Hotte collante de graisse, couverts de propreté douteuse et le plus dérangeant, odeur d'égout nauséabonde et insupportable dans la salle de bain. Planche de WC tachée d'urines et sol collant. Vraiment décevant !

De gite is heel leuk ingericht, alles aanwezig. Hele leuke en grote tuin. Prettig verblijf, goede ontvangst, mooie omgeving.

Gezellig huisje, aangename tuin, leuke eigenaars. Zwembad deed deugd, prachtige omgeving om te wandelen of te fietsen... Misverstandje: er is maar 1 toilet (in de badkamer), wat een aanpassing vraagt als je met vrienden verblijft...

Heerlijke vakantie

Vriendelijk ontvangst, genoeg te doen rondom het huis (zwembad, trampoline) ruime slaapkamers, ruime badkamer. Genoeg te ondernemen in de buurt ondanks corona. Zeker aan te raden!

Lovely base for exploring

The gite is a basic but comfortable base to look round the local area and a good price. You definitely need a car in this rural area. There are no shops/eateries in walking distance. Caroline welcomed us and showed us around the gite and gardens. She speaks good English. Upstairs the bedrooms are spacious and the beds comfortable. There is some storage for clothes etc. Downstairs there is an open space split into a small kitchen area, dining area and lounge area with 3 seater sofa, footstool and chair. There is a bathroom at the rear with toilet, sink and shower. Some parts of the gite are modern and some rustic. The stairs are open, wooden and fairly steep. Dogs are not allowed upstairs - not that our dog could get up them anyway. Outside the gardens are split into separate areas. Dining area is outside the side of the gite surrounded by lavender bushes. The play and pool areas are to the other side of the owners home so not visible from the gite which was fine for our teenagers but be aware with younger children. The pool is not heated so can be a little chilly. Towels are provided - one hand towel and one bath towel per person. The kitchen is pretty well equipped with crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment. I cleared a cupboard out to store food. You have a fridge with ice box, oven, hob and dishwasher. You may want to take: Dishwasher tablets Dog bowls Loo roll Pool towels ( you can use the house ones but you’d have really wet towels) Bin liners Wasp repellent - many more in Belgium than England and they really liked me! Fly repellent Nearby places we recommend: The old railway path that runs past the gite Dinant town and citadel Dinant Grottes Marveilleuse Rail bikes of Molignee ( not too taxing - opt for the 14 km route) Parc de Furfooz Welcome Wok in Beauraing We’ll definitely return to Belgium to explore further.

Relax en ruimte

Heerlijk verblijf. Ideaal huisje met een prachtige tuin. Kinderen hebben zich prima vermaakt en hebben de ruimte. Goede uitvalsbasis om de omgeving te verkennen. Wij hebben genoten!

Sehr schöne Unterkunft in ruhiger Lage

Die Wohnung verfügt über einen eigenen Eingang und nimmt die linke Hälfte des Hauses ein. Die Vermieter wohnen rechts und sind sehr nett. Die Wohnung verteilt sich auf zwei Geschosse, oben sind die Schlafzimmer. Uns haben der Schnitt und die Einrichtung sehr gut gefallen, es war sehr sauber und alles vorhanden was man braucht. Die Lage am Ortsrand ist äußerst ruhig. Direkt am Haus vorbei führt eine ehemalige Eisenbahntrasse die nun asphaltiert ist - ideal zum Joggen, Radfahren oder Inliner laufen. Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Urlaub!

Fijn huisje met heerlijke tuin

Prettig verblijf gehad in furnaux. Rustige omgeving geen winkels of restaurants in de buurt( auto noodzakelijk ) Mooie tuin met zwembad wat heerlijk was met 38 graden.

The house is excellent, in an amazing and quiet location,Amazing for children, full of games.

Arriving at the house is convenient, there is parking, good and immediate communication with the owners of the house, we received a detailed explanation of the house and its contents, the courtyard with all its components. The house consists of two floors, on the ground floor there is a living room, a dining area, a kitchen fully equipped with electrical appliances, and a toilet and shower. On the second floor are the bedrooms (2). The yard is very rich and large. There are football gates, a trampoline, a wooden house with swings, 2 crates with many games for children, a private garden with a dining table and chairs, and 2 sun loungers. And of course the pool, the crowning glory for children. There is a large supermarket, a fast food restaurant, about 5 minutes away. In the immediate surroundings of the house there are hiking trails in nature and cycling. Jean-Charles Martin & Caroline and kids are very Nice and welcoming. We enjoyed ourselves very much, warmly recommend and will probably return.

Base de départ idéale

Nous avons passé une semaine actif dans votre gîte agréable. Bien situé pour faire un tas d'excursions : l'abbaye de Maredsous, le lac de Bambois, Namur, Dinant. Pour les fan du vélo : le ravel pour les randonneurs et les vtt on recommande le massif forestier du Tournibus.
