Stunning location, impressive history, thoughtful restoration. We enjoyed our return to the area and the wonderful peace and quiet. The koi pond was a fun addition. Pretrip advice and info from owner allowed us to hit the ground running.

Beautiful house

We had a lovely stay in the very pittoresque village of Flavigny. The house was perfect - spacious and renovated with modern amenities while all the charm has been preserved. Very calm garden. Highly recommended.

Wonderful stay in a charming village.

Everything worked out better that we could have thought possible. The house was lovely and the bedrooms large and well layer out. The kitchen was very well supplied and easy to prepare meals in. The outdoor space was lovely and the view really enchanting. We really enjoyed our times with the hosts where were too short. We will definitely add this stay to our future plans.

A magical experience

Our stay in Flavigny was a magical experience, and Maison des Remparts equally special! … Caroline’s stone villa is charming, comfortable , beautifully decorated and well accessorized! … Both my husband and I are looking forward to returning to experience Burgundy in greater depth!

Wonderful holiday location

The house was delightful. It was well-appointed and comfortable, being kept cool.by the thick stone walls. The terrace was a lovely place to sit and relax. It felt very private yet it was a short walk to the local amenities. We enjoyed the bread and pastries from the bakery and the village shop was well stocked. We walked to the Flavigny brasserie and vineyard to sample the local beer and wine - we loved the rose. There was a lot to explore in the area and we had a wonderful week, thank you.

A short but wonderful stay.

We absolutely loved this holiday home. It fulfilled every requirement we had. The kitchen had all the necessary appliances and utensils, making it easy for us to prepare our meals. The bedrooms are cosy and decorated with the house’s historical background in mind. The cleanliness was impeccable. One of the highlights of our stay was the quiet ambience of the surroundings, enhanced by the peaceful garden with its beautiful views and its mesmerising Koi pond. Overall, our experience at the holiday home was fantastic. We would highly recommend this holiday home to anyone looking for a peaceful and comfortable getaway.

Charming village, charming home

The home in Flavigny is beautifully reconstructed and decorated. There is a very well equipped kitchen, comfortable bedrooms and baths and a lovely garden overlooking the countryside. It was very spacious for two couples with a koi pond as a bonus. We enjoyed feeding the fish! The location made it possible to explore the surrounding area . A car is a necessity. The village is wonderful with several good restaurants and of course the Anis factory of which it is renowned. We loved every minute and we’re sorry to have our trip end.

Sehr schönes Ferienhaus, mit Fischen. Nachts könnten wir immer die Sterne beobachten, ansonsten haben wir unsere Tage größtenteils in der Lounge im Garten verbracht. An fast allen Fenstern sind Fliegengitter, was wirklich sehr praktisch ist. Genügend Geschirr war ebenfalls vorhanden und die Küche gut ausgestattet.Die Stadt ist klein aber sehr schönes mit der Anis-Bonbin Fabrik direkt in der Nähe.

Traumhaft ruhig

Wir waren 14 Tage im August mit 5 Personen im Ferienhaus. Der Garten mit umwerfendem Ausblick ist genial. Man kann wunderbar abschalten und Ruhe finden. Das Haus ist schön und stilvoll eingerichtet. Es hat durch sein Alter viel Charme, aber auch manche Einschränkungen. Obwohl Flavigny sehr schön und bekannt ist, ist es nicht überlaufen,sondern ein ruhiger und gemütlicher Ort. Leider gab es nur ein Restaurant, in dem wir abends essen konnten. Die anderen waren nicht geöffnet. Man muss also Fahrzeiten einrechnen, auch wenn morgens das Brot in der Bäckerei und der epicureísmos ausgeht. Wir haben die Tage in Flavigny sehr genossen.

Traumhafte Tage in Flavigny

Ein wunderschönes, sehr aufwendig restauriertes Haus mit einem fantastischen Garten. Der atemberaubende Ausblick ins weite Tal macht es schwer diesen Ort zu verlassen, um sich irgendetwas anderes in der Umgebung anzuschauen. Idylle pur, fast magisch.

Out of world

Flavigny und das Haus lassen einen in eine eigene Welt eintauchen, so dass das das Gefühl ist, für eine paar Tage "out of the world" zu sein. Haus und Garten haben eine ganz besondere Stimmung, die einen aus dem Alltag wirft. Wer hier nicht abschalten kann, hat selber Schuld. Ein guter Ort zum Entspannen, wandern und sich wohl fühlen!

Enfin une maison de charme et d’authenticité 😃

Située dans un village médiéval sur un promontoire dominant la vallée, nous avons découvert à Flavigny une partie de l’univers merveilleux de Carolyn notre hôtesse Cette maison ancienne, située en bord des remparts dominant la vallée, a été restaurée avec goût et passion, dans le respect des matériaux de son origine. Les pièces sont bien distribuées et, passé la cuisine parfaitement équipée, les chambres, dotées de tout le confort sanitaire souhaité, sont vastes et lumineuses et peuvent donner sur la vallée ou le jardin. Celui-ci, agrémenté de plantes et d’un bassin animé de poissons, offre des espaces de calme et tranquillité Tout ici concourt au repos et le bien-être. Cette maison, reflet de sa propriétaire, vous accueille chaleureusement Tout autour, la petite bourgade de Flavigny a su, grâce à passion des habitants, garder intactes les traces et la beauté de son histoire. Son église, une merveille de l’époque romane, en est le témoin. En flânant dans ses vieilles ruelles, vous découvrirez, ici un petit épicier accueillant et sympathique, là une artiste céramiste. Sur la place et à l’ombre de l’église, un groupement de femmes concocte tous les jours des repas cuisinés des produits de la ferme que vous pouvez déguster sur des tables en extérieur (les desserts sont terrriblement délicieux !) Je pourrais aisément continuer, mais n’ai plus de place Si : de grâce, ne donnez l’adresse qu’à vos amis les plus chers !!

C’est Magnifique!

The Ramparts was everything advertised - beautiful, comfortable, spacious and charming. We were two couples and there was ample room for us and we could have had a few more join us. We stayed two weeks and even though we were heading to Paris, we were reluctant to leave Flavigny behind. It is a wonderful hilltop village deserving of its place as one of the most beautiful villages in France. Everyone was friendly and we felt welcome in town. We only hope we can go back one day!

Parfait à tous points de vue

Lovely location and friendly hosts

Carolyn is very friendly and helpful and house is lovely. My only reservation is the lack of a comfortable sitting area. No problem for us as lovely weather but could be an issue if weather not so good.

Lovely House.

Being on the edge of a Plus Beau Village, we had the peace and quite at the house, with the luxury of a very short walk to all what the village had to offer.

It is difficult to summarise a stay in a mediaeval town with so much history, where a film made 22years ago thrust it into the limelight. We enjoyed every minute of our exploration of Flavigny. It was a joy to turm up a hill or go round a bend and appreciate the architecture from so many centuries ago. Our accommodation was quirky and interesting. We appreciated the tranquility. No traffic sounds. Just the birds and butterflies. Carolyn has been the most attentive host. Quick to respond to questions and the most information regarding the immediate area and places to go. We so appreciated the thick walls in the heat of 33 degree days. Magical place to stay. Thank you Carolyn.

What a beautiful, peaceful house!

Absolutely gorgeous house, beautifully restored to the highest standard. Beds super comfortable and lovely and cool in the heat. The garden is a delight. Carolyn could not have been nicer or more supportive and helpful. Walking is wonderful in the area and one can walk right from the house on dozens of well-marked paths. Flavigny is lovely, although one must be prepared to drive to shop and eat.
