A cute quaint house with 2 rooms a kitchenette area and living room. Loved the old wood burning heater in the bedroom. Very quiet with beautiful views and so many family friendly things to do.

Super cute, well stocked and a great place to have a mountain getaway!

My friends and I really enjoyed our stay at thumper cabin. It was well stocked with cooking utensils and supplies, the pay it forward vibe was great, and we had a great time. Thanks Jeff and Traci!

Thanks Allard J. It is the guests that keep this place going, as my notes show "I did my part you do yours". It is Great to have guests understand the "Pay it Forward " theory. It is like" You take care of the land, the land take care of you". We can only try and do or part while on this planet and one good place to start and continue is right here. 40th Anniversary stay

A fantastic place! As rustic as can be. Pretty much off the grid…and the outhouse!!! Just up the road from Mt. Princeton Hot springs. Quaint and quiet! We loved it!!!

Cabin getaway

Felt like camping without the tint wasn’t terrible just froze most of the time. I recommend this place for couples and adults only

Thank you for visiting. You did pick a "cabin" in the wintertime in the Rocky Mountains and it is cold "out there" . You asked to move from the cabin we had heated and ready for you to another cabin which we allowed. We know you used the wood stove since ALL the wood both inside and outside was all burnt and not restocked after your departure. The website is pretty detailed as to what to expect and what is expected of you. I don't think you took the time to read the site because you did not "play it forward" by leaving the cabin clean and restocked.

Cozy Cabin

We weren't sure at first, but after 24 hours we realized it was going to be a great week! It kept us warm, dry & helped us make some amazing memories! Quietly tucked away down a CR past the business & even had a fishing pond within walking distance. Saw lots of wildlife too. Would definitely rebook.

Thumper Cabin

I enjoyed my stay at the property. It is very quiet and friendly environment. It is close to Mt. Princeton Hot Springs and St. Elmo. Chalk Creek and the small lake right down the road was great for fishing. The cabin was nice and the beds were great. Yes there are notes everywhere but Jeff the owner is extremely nice and helpful! Just take care of the property like it is yours and you will enjoy. The bathroom with a shower was very nice. It was a short walk from the cabin. There is a fire pit and a grill in the yard of the cabin. Definitely will come back! Thank you Jeff!

An honest to God cabin.

I love the fact that the owner, Jeff, did not try to doll this cabin up. It feels like an authentic cabin, which is a wonderful experience! The wood stove worked great, the kitchen was stocked sufficiently with utensils and appliances. Who needs an oven when you're on vacation?! The communal bath house was very clean and warm. I liked hauling water and chopping kindling. The shrikes and Stellar Jays, nuthatches, flickers and all sorts of other birds sing and cackle to you every morning.

Quaint and quirky

At first we thought . Yikes! But after a couple hours of cleaning we really enjoyed Thumper and Bunny Lane. We're all seniors so the history was a selling point. My wife and her sister thought the cobwebs were something they tried to do their best to eliminate. There were a couple appliances that needed repairs or replacement. An interesting experience that we ended up enjoying

Title: Misleading Listing – Left Without StayingI booked this cabin for two nights but left immediately upon arrival because the property was not as described. The listing says “2 bedrooms, 1 bath,” but the “bath” turned out to be an outhouse and a “bathhouse” located even further away from the cabin. For me, this was a major issue and very disappointing. Bedrooms only have a curtain for privacy separation.The cabin itself had no lock on the door—owner suggests supplying your own which I did not see until arrival and reading check in instructions. The “kitchen” was only an old microwave and two hot plates, with no oven and sink taps are 2 hose bibs coming from outside. The cabin is very rustic, with no insulation, and you are expected to bring your own bedding and clean the cabin yourself for next guests. There are notes all over the inside of cabin and posted outside with warnings about misuse and fines/extra money. There’s a very loud rooster somewhere close in the area.Reading about active mouse problems and being asked to leave trapped mice until the owner dealt with them was unsettling.Overall, this listing did not feel safe or accurately described. I ended up leaving without staying my 2 nights paid. I’ve requested a refund. I would not recommend this property to others.

My son and I went and stayed for three nights and really enjoyed the little cabin. Very rustic but the beds were decent and everything worked fine. I wish it had a workable fireplace. But everything else was great. Nice very quiet area with a creek behind the cabin maybe 100 feet, beautiful views of the mountains. Just a mile from Mount Princeton Hot Springs and maybe 10 miles from Cottonwood Hot Springs. You might want to bring some good pots and pans and dishes.

A serene getaway

We had a mother/ daughter weekend! My daughter flew in from Chicago. It was fabulous! No cell service, so I had her all to myself! I did share her with nature. We went on several hikes, visited St. Elmo, more hikes, went to the hot springs often, so relaxing! We loved the cabin and the surroundings! So peaceful! We both want to come back and bring our family and friends!

Great Location

The location is great for peaks along Chalk Creek Road and around St Elmo. No frills, but that's how it's advertised. It was exactly what I expected and met our needs.
