Castello di Montegufoni is an exclusive location to spend wonderful holidays in the heart of Chianti Region.
Dating back to the 12th century and restored in the 17th century by the noble family of Acciaioli, the Castle has a magnificent tower built on the model of the one of Palazzo Vecchio in Florence.
Montegufoni Castle is part of a large estate comprising vineyards and olive trees and is surrounded by the beautiful Chianti landscape. In the castle there are 39 apartments and a large garden with a nice swimming pool: the perfect spot to relax and have fun with your family and friends.
The Chianti Region is one of the most renowned charming area in Italy for its cultural, historical and enogastronomic traditions. This luxurious Castle offers to our guests incredible holiday experiences (on request) such as cooking lessons, event location, guided tours and more!

Distances from the villa: the small village of Montagnana V.P. with food shops 1 km, Montespertoli with all kinds of shops approx. 5 km, Florence 20 km, Pisa approx. 70 km.
A bus stop with busses to Florence is only a few meters from the castle away. Bikes and scooters for rent are available in Montespertoli.

At guests’ disposal: large and very charming terraced park furnished with garden furniture and table tennis, beautiful Italian gardens (dating back to the 18th century) with lemon trees and swimming-pool (12 x 6 m - open from 01/04 to 31/10). Reception open from 9.00 to 12.30 and from 14.30 to 18.30. The outbuildings of the castle as well were restored and turned into charming apartments. The castle is run by the Posarelli family. A nice restaurant offering nice recipes of the local Chianti tradition is open every night (from April to October except on Tuesdays). Laundry with shared washing-machine (€ 4,- / per washing). WI-FI internet connection available in some apartment, in the reception and restaurant area.

Extra services: on request possibility of renting a baby bed (€ 50,- / per week) and an extra bed (€ 100,- / per week) both payable locally.

Wow what a romantic place to stay and visit. Our accommodation was 2 mins walk from the stunning palace / castle, with beautiful gardens and a wonderful pool. Worth booking the palace restaurant for dinner, the setting on the terrace is like nothing else and the food and service is top class. I would definitely recommend and will hopefully return.

had a great & unique experience. its filled with italian charm. the swimming pool got filled up quickly, but it was still beautiful and enjoyable. Don't expect a 5 star resort kinda amenities, its an old castle that's maintained well. Special credits to the reception & the people at the restaurant. They were super accommodating & responded well to our rather unique requests (being able to have takeaway from the restaurant when we didnt have reservation, providing us with condiments, utensils etc). it was a very relaxing weekend!

Very cute place, as described and a unique way to experience Tuscany. We enjoyed the premises, the pool, the view, dinner at the domestic restaurant and vicinity to Firenze. Latest there you will have to face masses of tourists so this castle is a great calm hub to explore the region from. Two nearby villages offer shops, bakery, pharmacy for the basics. To have a car sure is recommendable. We thoroughly enjoyed and recommend this accommodation.

Such a beautiful location. It was peaceful. Exploring the castle was very interesting and fun. The food is so delicious. Definitely will return to the castle again and I wish we had longer. Our apartment was very cute, we enjoyed cooking and eating together. The only thing I would say is that it’s important to hire a car. This was recommended by the staff and hiring a car was a good decision.

I stayed with my family at one of the houses. Two bedrooms and two baths. We went in the summer and the AC in the rooms works great. No AC at the living room. All liens and towels provided. Parking is free. You must have a car to stay there. Pool was great to cool off at the end of the day. The only thing to improve are the utensils. They offer the very basic. Things lake a toaster and cutting board are simple improvement opportunities. Internet is OK, not great. We had no issues during our stay.

Romantic hotel, but...

We had booked an apartment (no. 4) in Montegufoni for 2 weeks from the end of July to the beginning of August 2024. The location of the castle is very beautiful and quiet. The charm of the old castle is really charming. The staff were all very friendly. Our apartment was located outside the castle. It was 50 to 100 meters to the castle on foot. Unfortunately, the pictures in the advertisement did not show the poor condition of the apartment. It had not been renovated over the years. The sanitary facilities in particular, but also the rest of the apartment, bear witness to this. To name just a few minor examples: Missing cover of a light switch, calcified and leaking water taps, completely dirty fans in the bathroom, broken tiles etc. The seating in the outdoor area was also anything but inviting. You didn't really want to sit there. Unfortunately, the overall condition of our apartment had to be described as worn and shabby. Directly below our bedroom - the apartment is on the raised first floor - there was also a metal roller garage door, which was opened loudly every morning between 7 and 8 o'clock, so that a peaceful night's sleep was out of the question from this point onwards. The shared facilities in the hotel also left a rather mixed impression: although the pool was very nice and was cleaned regularly, it was clearly too small when the hotel was fully occupied. Or the table tennis table: yes, there was a table, but why doesn't the hotel owner change the net if it's

Vilket fantastiskt ställe ! Så otroligt vacker omgivning. Lugnt och fridfullt. Vacker trädgård att strosa runt i och fin pool att kunna svalka sig i. Vi kommer mer än gärna tillbaka och hade önskat att vi stannat längre än två nätter .

The area was great, the views spectacular. We came without a car and unless you are able to cycle or rent a scooter it is difficult to travel around. Can get a taxi but nearest taxis come from far so will cost a bit. We walked to nearest village to get supplies, but did end up eating almost every night at the restaurant, which was fantastic food. You need to supply the trip yourself but lots of help from the staff.

Beautiful property. Quiet, quaint, convenient. We didn't eat at the restaurant as we were given recommendations at other establishments as a more authentic, local experience. +/- 40-minute drive to Florence. We drove to a tram station and parked the car and took the tram into the city to avoid parking/traffic in historic Florence. We did have a few issues that are of note: The front desk is only attended until 17:00 (5pm), so when we returned our first evening from a day in Florence to a broken A/C unit, the room was almost unbearable and the on-site maintenance man could do nothing. We slept in the heat and terrible bugs/mosquitos with no recourse but 2 small fans. Not great. And A/C costs extra. You need to "reserve" the one washing machine that is on site. No dryer. The listing wasn't clear about that. They do not have bikes onsite, they have a phone number for a bike company that can rent them to you (with a day's notice). It was clean, comfortable. I'd go back, but I would plan differently if the description was a bit more clear.
