Luxury Cottage with spectacular rural views, private garden, sunroom and terrace

I am sorry the cottage was not as accessible as you would have liked. I am afraid that the price of lovely views does tend to be steep hills. In fact the access from the street to our house is essentially flat, with just a single step into the cottage. Some of the parking is on a slope, but other places for parking are on the level (and free). We have renewed all the towels and the bedding as needed, and in general done a re-fresh of the interiors. Jane generally does a careful job with the cleaning, but to make certain everything is kept sparkling clean we are instituting additional cleaning routines.

Thank you for your comments about the things that need attention. The past of couple of years we have had to rely on guests' feedback as we have been unable to travel to England to check on the property ourselves. (No longer a problem hopefully). We do respond to comments once received, so will look at all the things you raise. On the stairgate - that has not been mentioned before - but it is the sort of thing that we are very happy for guests to ask Jane to sort out once you have arrived. Regarding access through the gate, the instructions we send to guests prior to arrival do advise that the gate and the ginnel are owned by our neighbours. Following your comments we have now replaced the cushion covers on the sunroom furniture, so thank you.

Josephine, I am so sorry you had those problems when you first arrived. We had just had the boiler service, gas safety check and some maintenance on the boiler done, and it seems that the clock for the boiler got out of kilter with the result the heating had not switched on in advance of your arrival. We know to double check that now. We will also make sure that checking that lights are working is on the list of change-over tasks. I can only apologise for our caretaker’s tardy response to your phone message, which was the result of a failure in communication. To ensure it doesn’t happen again, we are now providing guests with an additional method of contacting the caretaker. That means there are three methods of making contact in total (including contacting me through VRBO). On bedlinen, we have purchased new linen for the twin bedroom in response to your comment, and will review which towels and other linen still need replacing.

Sorry if it took a day or so to make contact with our house-keeper. With the rise of Omicron it has been a tricky period. Jane did drop off replacement glasses and tightened the hinges on the oven door as soon as she was able to get there. However she didn't want to over-lap with you in the house for social distancing reasons, so apologies but a thorough fixing of the oven door had to wait until your visit was over.

Hi Rowanne Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. In pre-covid times we did provide a welcome pack which included milk. We stopped doing that because of wanting to avoid extraneous disinfecting. I'll discuss with our housekeeper and see if we can reinstate milk and wine.
