Superb stone cottage in the heart of Snowdonia

Set within the gorgeous village of Beddgelert, situated in the foothills of Snowdon, there can be no greater escape from the hurly burly of modern day life than this. The property is a classical stone built cottage which has been tastefully modernised within, providing modern comfortable accomodation including a log burning stove set within a feature fireplace. The cottage has been awarded a four star rating by the Welsh Tourist Board. The open plan lounge is complemented by a modern dining kitchen with modern electrical appliances including halogen hob. To the rear of the property is a spacious garden area that enjoys sunshine all day. Watch the sun set behind the mountains as you sip a nice aperitif, before enjoying a lovely barbecue.


The property benefits from two ample bedrooms. The front bedroom has bunk beds and one single bed. The beautifully decorated main bathroom has a bath with shower over, pedestal hand wash basin and wc. It is a lovely light airy room benefitting from a skylight. After a hard day's walking in the mountains you can take a nice long relaxing bath. The main bedroom at the rear of the property has a double bed with fitted wardrobes and an en-suite bathroom. The en-suite is finished to the same high standard as the main bathroom. With corner shower unit with electric shower, pedestal hand washbasin and wc. The property enjoys free mountain views to the rear and is less than a stone's throw away from the Glaslyn river which rapids its way through the village. The roar of the river is a relaxation inducing feature of this spectacular mountain location. The property benefits from economy 7 night storage heating and the radiators and hot water are heated by the log-burning stove.

Electriciy is included in the rental price.

There are a number of mountain walks some starting literally from the doorstep of the property. Lakeside and coastal walks are also within easy distance. There really is something for everyone in this idyllic part of the world.

Great comms from the host, quick and helpful and solved a couple of my problems not accomodations problems. Lovely place, easy check in, nice treats left for us, including milk and tea bags etc and some Welsh Cake. Comfortable, close to town and everywhere we went people were lovely. Became increasingly frustrated by the size of the fridge which was suitable for a bedsit only. A washing machine wasn’t listed but I didn’t realise their wasn’t one; I haven’t stayed anywhere recently that didn’t have one and with 4 and 6 year old boys it was an absolute pain. Also no small freezer. Also one loo roll in each bathroom. One minute j cloth and nothing to wipe the floor with (when the pot of yoghurt fell out of the tiny fridge) Barbecue listed as a highlight but no barbecue. It felt like renting a cottage years ago when they were cheap. There didn’t seem to be consideration for making it an easy and pleasant stay.

Hello Jo Thanks for your unbalanced review. We agreed for you to have an eary check in, we also agreed for your daughter to come early and deliver your groceries before you arrived. When you as all guests arrive the beds are made up and bath and hand towels placed neatly on the beds. You made no mention of most issues you raise in your review whilst you were with us. There is no room in our dining kitchen for a stand up fridge, it is a cottage ... although we do provide ample dining space in the kitchen which isn't a common experience in miners cottages ... I responded to your query re the barbecue not being available, I recall it was once published on the listing but I told you we had removed it some time ago. I have just checked the listing and there is no mention of a barbecue, certainly not as a highlight and indeed there is no option on my side to include a barbecue as an option, fire pit appears as an option, but not a barbecue. Maybe you confused our listing with another one? I note you missed that we do not have a washing machine in the property, we do however have a dishwasher, again space allows only for one or the other. if you had asked I would have provided indications for you to find an excellent launderette in Porthmadog. We have a mop in the understairs cupboard to clear up any mess in the kitchen. We also leave paper towels for you to use. You apologised for being rude to me during your stay, seems that was an empty apology.

We stayed here for 5 nights while my husband was racing in Snowdonia. The location and check-in process were excellent.However, we noticed a strong odor on the ground floor upon arrival. On our third morning, we also found what appeared to be signs of bed bugs in two of the beds, and I developed several itchy bites during the stay. We contacted the owner but were unable to resolve the issue, so we chose to leave early and book a hotel instead. VRBO later provided a partial refund.I would recommend the property be professionally inspected before future guests stay here.

There was no report of a smell downstairs in the communication with me. After the 3rd night of the stay I received a message about bedbugs. I replied stating in 23 years of renting to guests at the property, we had never had such an incident reported. Bedbugs can ofcourse enter a property on the luggage of visitors. Whilst the guest was adamant that it was our issue and demanded a full refund, she seemed unwilling to consider that the bedbugs may have entered the property on their luggage. Previous guests left a 5 star review for cleanliness on a different platform and there were no reports of a bad smell either from these or the previous or subsequent guests.

We had a great stay in this property. The location was perfect - very short walk to the village and all pubs / shops. Great walking routes very close by.

We loved our time in Beddgelert. We arrived late and struggled with the check in process so be aware to alert the host if you’re planning a late check-in. The host was very responsive and saved us that first night.

Cosy little cottage with on street parking a 200metres from village centre with 4 pubs, local shop and amazing ice cream parlour. Great to be able to walk from the property into the hills or catch a bus outside the door to explore the area.

Beautiful holiday cottage in a lovely position. Well stocked and presented and 2 minutes walk from pubs and restaurants. Upstairs ensuite and bathroom is great. Safe and secure garden. The host is extremely helpful. Thanks xx

Good location

We are very pleased with our stay. The house is clean, has a large kitchen, which is well equipped. There is a fridge and a dishwasher. The kitchen has a table with five chairs. There is a living room with a fireplace and a bookcase with various books for rainy days. The owner took care of a collection of brochures and guides from attractions throughout the area. The house is located in a charming village, in the heart of the mountains. An excellent location from which we have access to many places, that can be reached within 30 minutes to 1 hour. I highly recommend it.

The cottage was a disappointment. It was described as “superb, beautifully decorated, tasteful, and with the ability to take a long bath “none of these were true. The cottage is cheaply and minimally, furnished with very limited amenities, there was no hairdryer, no firewood, and no heat upon arrival. It was very cold and it took 24 hours for the heater to be effective. The back garden is unattractive and unwelcoming. There is very limited water pressure making it impossible to take a bathtub soak. We paid for linen and each one of us got one small thin towel and one hand towel to last us for five days . The master bedroom door does not shut, some electric outlets do not work, the floor in the kitchen is rubber, warped, torn and uneven. It is sad to see how the owner has neglected this property. It is very low value for money as there are many similarly priced holiday lets nearby that are much nicer, and unfortunately, they were unavailable for our stay. We have stayed in numerous holiday lets all across Wales, and this was the absolute worst .Despite the owner’s neglect of the property, the housekeeper was extremely helpful and responsive. The communication with the owner however, ranged from minutes to 9 hours.

Dear Vicky I am sorry to read that the cottage was not to your liking. I explained before hand and indeed it is in the listing that we do not offer firewood or a hair dryer, your sister confirmed she would bring her own. The heating had been turned off by previous guests who had found the cottage too warm, it is a storage heater system at the cottage so the heaters warm up overnight. Lisa brought you firewood and additional heaters to keep the place warm. There is a small hole in the kitchen flooring which we are in the process of getting fixed, it's been a busy season and we have had no gaps in bookings to remedy this. There will always be minor maintenance issues arising at the end of the season, Lisa and her team do their best to keep things ship shape and we will carry out more detailed maintenance work in November. The guests who stayed immediately before you gave us the following 5 star rating: Cottage had everything we needed, and very clean and welcoming, beds very comfortable and had a great experience and definitely going to return in the future.

lovely cottage

We stayed a week in this lovely cottage in Beddgelert, everything you need in this home from home, although there is a small extra charge for bedding and towels if you don't want to take your own. Parking is on street so didn't always get a space outside, the kitchen could do with blinds or curtains as you can straight in, and the outside seating area could be better but these are just minor things. Its a beautiful village made better by the super weather we had, and a great base for exploring this part of Wales.

7 Nights in Wales & only 30mins of Rain!

Beddgelert...What a fantastic location! The cottage is of a very good standard, clean & comfy. All rooms are well fitted out and of a good size. Basically every thing you need for a great time. The rear garden is enclosed and our Dog (only a small fella) was safe enough but be aware there is a 'right of way' for 2 other cottages (via gates), once we knew, we made sure he wasnt a problem for the others, all was good. There are plenty of stunning walks & views without even leaving the village. Eating & drinking out was easy & good (remember to book a table so your not disappointed) some also do take aways. Shop in the village was well stocked or a supermarket in Porthmadog (15 mins away). The Road side parking was on the whole ok, safe enough but at times, like upon arrival we had to park a good distance from the cottage and carry our luggage back to the cottage which was a bit of a inconvenience, Any other time, not really a problem (the village & roads were there before cars were thought of). Communication with the owner was very good & responses were fast & helpful. So would we visit again?... definitely! PS. Thanks for the week of 'Blue Sky's & Sunshine!!!!

We had a lovely stay at the cottage. It has everything you will need for a holiday away. The village beddgelert is beautiful and has stunning walks from the cottage. Snowdon is only a short drive away

Excellent stay

The property was fabulous. The pictures don’t do it justice and it feels more spacious inside than the pictures suggest. It’s perfectly located for all of the amenities in Beddgelert and the host was very helpful. Will hopefully return in the future.

Good value for location, although needs updating

Couldn't ask for a better location for exploring Snowdonia. This cottage is in the middle of the stunning village of Beddgelert (lovely village store, craft shops, pub / restaurants & amazing ice-cream shop). Compared to other properties this cottage is much cheaper. It has all the basics but needs updating (some kitchen cupboards coming off, top bunk mattress uncomfy, DVD remote doesn't work etc).

My grandparents had a cottage in this gorgeous village and I have been visiting Beddgelert since I was a baby. When my Gran passeD away we sold her cottage, no 18. 20 years later I went back to the village and found this place for sale. It was and still is like coming home and that's the experience we hope you have when you visit Beddgelert and stay in our homely cottage. I have travelled the world and currently live abroad. But I know of nowhere more beautiful than the stunning mountains, lakes and rivers of Snowdonia, not to mention the stunning coastline just a 20 minute drive away.
