1. A 2x4 or 4x4 SUV or other High Clearance Vehicle is Strongly Recommended for exploring Costa Rica and the Arenal Area. The road to El Castillo is paved but rough road conditions may exist. The little cow path to Encantada, that we lovingly call a road, is rustic, but easily passable in a regular car due recent improvements.
2. As a courtesy to Future Guests who might be allergic, the pets are not allowed to enter the house. Please feel free to enjoy their company Outside as much as you'd like.
3. The house is Self Catering, but we do provide a Welcome Breakfast basket, filled with lots of goodies to help you out for a day or two.

The home is equipped with all you’ll need for a stay. The property is lovely with well managed gardens and plant life all around. The hosts offered great suggestions for places to eat and things to do. We enjoyed our stay! (2 adults 1 twelve year old)Thanks!

Not sure where to begin. This property was absolutely gorgeous had everything and more that we could possibly need inside. The outside of the property was very special with their own walking trail down to a beautiful stream. Plant life was very nice. The host were very gracious and responded and we're extremely helpful. I would recommend it to anyone. If we come back to the area we will definitely stay at this location again. It's very accessible to many restaurants, Hot Springs the volcano and the town of La Fortuna!!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Although Marty and Nita were on vacation during our stay they were always responsive as was their care taker. The guest house was clean and had everything we needed. We were given a basket of breakfast items which was a big plus! We only used the pool once but it was clean and refreshing. We were greeting occasionally by their dogs which were very well behaved. A few mornings we awoke to howler monkeys and heard the occasional toucan. I would definitely recommend!

Very welcoming hosts, the landscape flowers are beautiful and the guest house comfortable and clean. There’s a small market at the bottom of the hill that has a little of everything.

The hosts were fantastic. The natural beauty surrounding the guest house was phenomenal. It felt like we were tucked away in paradise. The house was super clean and just beautiful. Bonus—the bed sheets were sooo soft!

We enjoyed our stay at Encantada Guest House. The communication prior to arrival was helpful, with many practical tips for our vacation in Costa Rica. The location of the guest house is wonderful for doing things in the area, it is very close to both Lake Arenal and Arenal volcano and you can see both from the road next to the house. It is a peaceful spot. We did many activities in the area and enjoyed walks in the morning to see the birds and views. We enjoyed our coffee on the patio while watching howler monkeys and toucans. Overall it was a great start to our vacation. Nita and Marty provide a nice starter basket of food, including bread products, coffee and eggs which was thoughtful.

Enchanting and magical place! Loved all the special host touches. So relaxing! You awaken to the sounds of birds and howler monies each morning then one of the resident dogs come by to greet you! We loved the visits from Mia since we recently lost our beloved dog last month. Communication from Marty and Nita was excellent even though they were out of the country they still arranged our skyline tour which we highly recommend! Would love to come back someday!

We loved our stay at the Encantada Guesthouse. There is no way to describe how beautiful the grounds are on the property. The house was spotless. Nita and Marty gave us 6 pages of helpful hints for traveling to the area to prepare us for the trip. That information alone was priceless. We loved every minute at the Guesthouse. We had a wonderful time and we would definitely stay there again if we ever returned to the area. Thank you Nita and Marty for making our stay so memorable! Costa Rica was amazing thank you for sharing your beautiful home and property it was truly amazing!

We enjoyed our time at Encantada Guest House and the ElCastillo area. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, with an extraordinary birding experience, this is it. The house is perfectly outfitted and comfortable, the grounds are gorgeous and the owner and staff are easily reached for any questions. The area is great with lots of great restaurants and friendly locals. We will most certainly be back.

Beautiful location, the grounds were so nice and all of the birds coming and going. The house is a perfect size, nicely decorated, very cozy and it was great that they provided food to make breakfast in the morning, a very nice perk. Marty was very helpful when we unsure if we were going the right way and sent us a pin through WhatsApp to make sure we had it right. When we arrived, he explained everything and gave us suggestions for activities to do. They also had a folder with more information. They are great hosts, we would definitely stay there again.

What a beautiful relaxing place to stay

It was perfect. We enjoyed the property so much, as well as all the extra amenities that were provided. The host was very gracious in offering suggestions and provided us with a basket of food & drinks during our stay. I highly recommend this place.

This home is incredible - private, surrounded by jungle sounds, kind people, and a yoga studio. A great place for our honeymoon and we hope to return soon!

Beautiful stay in tropical paradise

We especially enjoyed waking to the sounds of so many tropical birds. The house is artfully decorated, the views are wonderful, the surrounding gardens are excellent. So great to be out in the country away from the crowds of La Fortuna but still close to everything. Highly recommended

Great Spot

Hubby and I were wrapping up 11 days adventuring around Costa Rica for our anniversary. Of the 3 loactions booked this was our favorite. This cozy spot is in a great location, checkin and out was super easy. The property is beautiful! Great food and adventures everywhere.

Lovely jungle experience

Beautiful property with lots of amenities. Flowers, birds, howler monkeys, etc…can be enjoyed throughout the property. The massage hut, on site, was outstanding!!! Many restaurants and activities within walking distance.

Encantada Guest House

The casita was beautifully decorated and the surrounding gardens were stunning. We enjoyed waking to sounds of bird song and sitting on the front porch watching the humming birds as we drank our morning coffee. Nita and Marty did an excellent job sharing fun things to do and places to go in the area. The whole experience was restful, peaceful and fun!

Totally worth it!

This place was amazing. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle and with incredible views of the lake and volcano made this a special place. Our hosts, Nita and Marty, were very attentive and sweet. We had everything we needed and more. We did nearby hiking and zip lining and only had to drive a few miles so convenient.

El Castillo

Our stay at the Encantada Arenal was wonderful Marty and Nita are super hosts, and their property is amazing! It was fun sitting having coffe in the morning and watching the Tucans eat the fruit off the tree outside the cottage. The views are amazing and the people are so nice and warm and friendly. The view of lake Arenal is spectacular and the volcano is amazing. There is so much to do there you will never be bored.We look forward to our next trip back to Encantada Arenal.

We loved our stay

Getting to this location is not for the faint of heart. Once we settled in, we absolutely loved the place. The gardens are gorgeous the small pool was used almost daily as was the hot tub. Do yourself a favour, get out of your comfort zone and book this place! The white face monkeys and toucans where an extra treat!

Lovely Jungle Stay

We enjoyed our stay in El Castillo. The accommodation was clean, spacious and well supplied with everything we needed. Peaceful outside spaces were appreciated with chairs in sun and shade as desired. Nita and Marty are kind and accessible when needed. Previous reviews mention the road up - we found it easy up and down with a firm track. Enjoyed a few local restaurants as recommended by our hosts.
