This is a one of a kind property built in 2007. The home features 13' high exposed steel truss ceilings with R65 insulation and central AC, industrial RLM lighting, extensive detailed Victorian style hardwood mill work, granite countertops, maple flooring throughout, ceramic tile bathroom with large 2 person shower, Kohler fixtures, leather furniture, 65" 4K 3D HDTV with Blue Ray, CD, DVD, etc.

Internet radio fans will love the Denon X1000 network AV receiver with Klipsch surround system. There is a front loading washer and dryer on premises in addition to a 2nd floor deck (with padded wicker furniture) which opens off the smaller bedroom.

Bringing your toys? As a "carriage house style" home the property can potentially store your toys (motorcycles, bicycles, jet skis, ATV's, and small boats) indoors securely out of the weather should that be a concern.

Host was very kind and responsive to all questions. Our stay was pleasant, peaceful, and close to many local delights. Right nearby the Botanical Garden which was our main reason for coming to TC. Parking was superb. Space was clean and felt cozy like staying at a friend's home. So glad we opted for this VRBO instead of booking a hotel.

This property was clean, comfortable and mainly used for sleeping since was in town for the polkafest in Cedar. An early checkout was kinda rough but made it work.

We visited during the Cherry Festival and could walk to the parade. Enjoyed the carnival and could see the fireworks from the balcony. Great location and space!

We had a great time! The host was so accommodating with a special request for my wife. Lisa went above and beyond to help get bags into the rental and provided information on things we wanted to see. We would stay again in a heartbeat. Thanks James and Lisa.

We enjoyed our stay! The condo is as pictured. We liked the location - didn’t have to deal with too much traffic and was easy to venture out to places further away. It was a good “home base” for us!

Great property! Very comfortable and beautifully finished and furnished. Location was in a quiet area and easy to walk around. Easy drive and access to everything you want to do. Having access to the garage was very nice perk. Good communication with James on the check in process and advice on using the garage and other access. Highly recommend, will definitely stay again on my next visit.

Overall, we were pleased with our stay. The place was mostly clean, having the garage was a big plus, and the living space felt roomy. The area was quiet and fairly convenient (bikeable but not close enough for us to walk) to get to downtown and a beach. Communication with the host was a challenge at first (no instructions for accessing the property or how to lock the front door), but it got much better during our three night stay. Beds were comfortable, shower was spacious, and the balcony off one of the rooms provided a peaceful place to relax.

Hello Steven, Thank you for your review. Regarding the "mostly clean" description it is necessary for me to point out the rental agreement you agreed to that asked that "guests notify me immediately if there is anything that is not as advertised" and that didnt happen so its impossible to address the vague nature of your concern after the fact. Weve had a long string of 5 star reviews which we can only maintain if we know specifically why or where we missed the mark. My housekeeper could have literally responded within minutes. As for check in, I explained I prefer at least initial direct contact to avoid delays inhetent to the VRBO messaging platform. In this instance it appears I may have missed it and I own that one. The 3 point locking doors are a security feature but can be a pain if your not familiar with them. Sometimes we overlook that as we are so close to the State Police post. So sorry about the lack of explicit directions. Sincete thanks, JS

James was a great host! Quick responses to my questions. Wonderful location, within walking distance to downtown Traverse City. Loved the carriage house, had lots of character. Kitchen was well stocked and equipped with anything you can think of that you might need. A huge plus was the use of the garage, much appreciated! We will be back!

The place was great but it was had to find at night. There is plant growth over the number to the house so at first we were hoping we were in the right place. The plants at the garage are big and our car thought them a barrier and we had to hold them over to get the car out. The host had good communication until we got there. Then not so much. But plenty of.comfy furniture. The kitchen seemed well stocked but we didn’t do any cooking.

Great place to stay

We enjoyed our stay a lot. The apartment is nicely decorated, has comfortable furniture, and is well stocked. The garage was a nice bonus. Check-in was super easy. We would definitely stay here again!

My sisters and I loved our stay at “Smitty’s”! The home is beautiful and comfortable. The location was ideal for taking side trips. Also, it was very nice being able to park in the garage for safety and convenience.

Great property!

We loved our stay - the location was great and the property was clean and well cared for. There is an excellent ice cream shop and bakery within walking distance that my kids loved visiting and everyone was very friendly and helpful with property questions.

The house was perfect for our family of 4. Everything was clean, kitchen fully stocked with all the equipment we needed. Being able to park in the garage was great, and the check in process/responsiveness of the owner was much appreciated. Would definitely recommend and look forward to staying here again.

As a retired tradesman and an admirer of Victorian architecture found throughout the downtown Traverse City area, my wife and I created this home to appear as if it was here from the beginning. It would have been far easier and cost effective to create a less detailed, "cheaper" structure. We dont believe that is in the best interest of the City we admire or the architectural style featured so prominently in the downtown residential areas

The property as purchased in 2007 featured an aging small Victorian style frame home. After a fair amount of anguish and a whole lot of consideration over renovation versus demolition and rebuilding, the latter won out. The home we created is exactly what we envisioned to be a highly detailed, energy efficient, spacious, multi-use, in-town get-away. The proximity to downtown and the walking distance to shopping and night life make it all worthwhile.

Qué distingue a esta propiedad

When sitting on the deck you will find yourself wondering, as we do, just how old is the giant white oak tree which surrounds you? What you wont realize is how much debate went into building this home in a manner which saved half of this tree. In order to build this size home far enough off the alley pushed us up against an grand old White Oak tree that we treasured. The compromise was to remove half of the tree and then design a deck which would save the remaining half. We did that and both the tree and the building are better off for it.
