Stunning property and great for getting the teenagers out exploring, spotlighting wombats, gathering citrus and making juice, feeding chooks and collecting eggs. Even braving the winter freezing pool ( we had a blackout so it wasn’t heated!)Heaps of places to lounge with a book. Beautiful birdsong in the encircling rainforest. If the place had solar and battery it would have been perfect.

Beautiful Retreat

A fantastic house to stay in with the extended family. The house is set on a beautiful property and it had everything you could possibly need, would definitely love to stay here again.

A perfect place to stay with family and grandchildren to celebrate my 60th birthday! Very well appointed home with plenty of room for all to enjoy. A terrific getaway! The beds were super comfortable and absolutely everything and more was there. Would highly recommend- many thanks!!!

We had a wonderful family gathering stay at Ellywan. It exceeded our expectations in every regard. The rainforest, the wombats, the peace, the deck near the waterfall -- and the buildings themselves, so thoughtfully designed, beautifully decorated, and thoroughly equipped. Our children loved feeding the chickens and collecting the eggs each day and toasting marshmallows around the patio fire pit each evening. We had such good family meals around the beautiful dining table. We also appreciated the owner's phone call to help us settle in and his availability when we had a minor question later. Ellywan's seclusion is lovely, but it's also near Berry, for groceries and other shopping, and it's fairly close to various other attractions. We enjoyed Berry and Seven Mile Beach. We would gladly return to Ellywan the next time we are in Australia, and we would highly recommend Ellywan to any traveling groups.

Ellywan is a stunning property in a beautiful setting — spacious, well-equipped, and perfect for a group getaway.Unfortunately, our most recent stay was overshadowed by a dispute with the owners regarding a scratch on the cooktop. After our stay, we were charged 858.26 for a full cooktop replacement due to what they considered damage. The cooktop was still completely usable and looked fine, yet the owners insisted on replacing the entire unit.What makes this worse is that it really came down to our word against theirs. We’re not even certain the scratch happened during our stay, but the agent’s view was that we should have checked the property on arrival and reported any pre-existing marks. In reality, who inspects and documents every surface of a house before unpacking for a weekend away?Guests should also be aware that the house rules include “14 ways to lose your deposit”, which sets the tone for a very strict approach to property condition. My advice: take photos of everything as soon as you arrive — before you even unpack your bag.It’s a shame, because the property itself is beautiful, but this approach to guests has left us unwilling to return.

We are glad that you agree that Ellywan is a stunning property in a beautiful setting — spacious, well-equipped, and perfect for a group getaway. As explained to you at the time the oven and cooktop were completely brand new and had only just been installed prior to your stay. Despite signs which were literally attached to the cooktop itself clearly advising guests not to use metal utensils or scourers the owners arrived at the property after your stay to fine deep scratches in several places. This was far beyond normal wear and tear so the owners were within their rights to have this replaced. It is also worth pointing out that this has not been an issue for any guest that has stayed since. As people will see from the other reviews we have many guests which love Ellywan and treat it as they would there own home. Unfortunately however there is the occasional guest who is not as respectful which is why the owners do have some house rules in place to deter these issues.

Absolute bliss! Annual family getaway, three generations ages 60 years to 6 months and we were all delighted with Ellywan.Had me at the fruit tree lined driveway.The approach to the house is stunning! The grounds, the birds and wildlife, surrounded by national park, its sublime. We were lucky to see a baby wombat among the many adult wombats wandering around, even spotted an Echidna. We had a lovely welcome phone call from the owner which was a nice personal touch. Being blessed with glorious weather, we spent our days enjoying the outdoors and surrounds so didn’t get to fully appreciate the beautifully kept main house with its spacious and welcoming living areas and magnificent dining table. The kitchen is outstanding. Very well equiped. Extra large windows overlook the lawn. The family cricket game is in full view whilst food prepping. The kitchen flows out to the well utilised outdoor area seamlessly. Big bbq’d brekky and fresh coffee in the mornings to marshmallows over the fire pit in the evenings. The treehouse and games room cottage are quirky and self sufficient yet close enough to main house so children can come and go freely. Feeding chickens, collecting eggs and sampling fruit were highlights for our grandchildren. As was the pool and the walk down to the deck.The lanterns provided were great for exploring in the evenings. Took a drive to nearby Cambewarra Lookout. Truly breathtaking vista and a lovely little cafe.Highly recommended Ellywan.

Reunion of the university friends.

Fantastic find for my group of friends. We have annual uni reunion and were looking for lots of room. This is a gorgeous location and a really well equipped house a lot of thought has gone into everything. One of the most relaxing stays we have had. Everything one could possibly want is included, a fabulous property. Perfect for a getaway with gropu of friends or extended family.

OMG - Simply Perfectly Relaxing

Amazing ambiance, accommodation A1, kitchen sensational to cook in, Perfect in every way to relax and unwind. The Fireplaces were already set for us to light. The outdoor fire pit is gold. The friendly wildlife, the chooks, the river OMG...we could go on forever. Thank you so very much for the opportunity to stay at such a magical place.

Such a beautiful house

Very well furnished, equipped and designed house for large group! The scent in the house was elegant and calming. Everyone could find their comfortable place to stay in the living room. The glass-celling is stunning, but unluckily the days we visited were rainy, otherwise we would see the stars when lying on the bed. Staff were helpful and patient when we had trouble using the air conditioner even called them after hours. I was happy with everything in Ellywan except that the library bedroom didn’t have heater so I felt cold while sleeping, but that would be fine in warm days. All of us wished to stay longer in Ellywan. Thank you again for such wonderful hosting!

What a wonderful home in a wonderful location - our stay was beyond perfect and so memorable!

The property itself was simply amazing - the location in the valley was lovely to drive into. The grounds were well-kept and perfect for family cricket and soccer games on the lawn. There is so much to see and explore - I do not think we began to scratch the surface of what was to offer at the property. The house itself was spectacularly designed and very suited to our large family - offering plenty of space for us all to spread out. The rooms were very comfortable and warm during our stay in July. There was plenty of kindling and firewood to keep us warm, in addition to the very effective heaters throughout the property. The bathrooms were well equipped and incredibly clean. The dining room and lounge room were perfect to accommodate our large family, and the kitchen had more than we could have dreamt we needed (in terms of facilities and pantry staples). The cute wombat came up to the windows to greet us, much to the kids delight - he offered a lot of entertainment for the little and big kids! Our stay was simply magic and incredibly memorable - we want to thank the owner for allowing us all to stay and for his impeccable attention to detail - you should be so proud of your wonderful property. We hope we are lucky enough to share another weekend together here. Thank you so much.

Fantastic Location, such a great getaway!

Luxury accommodation and fabulous property. Could not have asked for a better weekend away! The house was amazing, the space, design and outlook was just beautiful. There was a vantage point from every window and we were surrounded by amazing wildlife! Pure Bliss! We will definitely be returning! Highly recommended!

Repeat customer

Between a few of us this is our fourth visit to Ellywan. For our big group of 6 couples it was perfect, and we'd had an annual weekend away for the last 10 years. Quality like this in houses this size is extremely rare. We BBQd, had a catered dinner night, and a cook up evening on our 3-night stay. If you stay please look after the house as if it was your own as we look forward to our next stay.

Oven didn’t work

We have stayed at this property before but this time around one of the ovens in the main house was broken. We weren’t told so turned up catering for 14 people and had to go from house to the tree house to cook dinner. No compensation given from the owners but it really wasn’t good enough for the price

While we were happy to welcome you back to Ellywan for your third visit we are a little disappointed that you have chosen to leave this review. The owner tried his very best to have the oven repaired before your stay and managed to get a tradesman there on the day of your arrival. Unfortunately he didn’t have all the necessary parts so wasn’t able to complete the repair - this was totally beyond the owners control. The oven was then repaired shortly after your departure. The oven in question is a large double oven and only one side was affected so you still had a fully functioning oven in the main kitchen as well as a second in the tree house which is only 20m from the main house. We trust that this was of little inconvenience which is why no compensation was offered. We do not agree that your 2 star rating is a fair reflection of your experience at the property. This was your third visit to Ellywan so obviously you have enjoyed the property in the past and we trust that even with the small inconvenience of only having two out of three ovens operational you were still able to have an enjoyable stay on this occasion. We would also like to note that your review and rating is in stark contrast to the ones provided by other guests that have stayed at Ellywan.

The most incredible property i have ever stayed at

where to start. This property exceeded all expectations. There was more than enough space for the 14 of us, it was stunning, quiet, and had everything you could need. Music systems across the house, enough firewood to keep warm for as long as you need and just a feeling of absolute bliss, not to mention the most gorgeous infinity pool, you could imagine. THANK YOU SO MUCH ELLYWAN :) it was a perfect weekend.
