The location of the property is good, and the design is good for a family gathering. The property has deferred maintenance with exterior wood railings needing attention. The HVAC is not really adequate and as our stay was in the summer - the upstairs remained hot. Main concern, however, is that there was evidence of a mice and rodent infestation. The pantry had mouse droppings, one of the kitchen cupboards had food or pet food left in it and it was full of mouse dropping. The mice had invaded the lower oven and there were mouse dropping in the lower unit which prevented us from using the oven.

Amazing cabin. We all where able to enjoy our time together in the great room . The windows are just awesome . Cant wait to come back

Awesome scenery! Although summertime would be an ideal time to invest in some curtains. With no A/C and the sun setting around 3, the top floor of the house gets extremely warm. The house had a funky, old musty smell. Possible urine from pets or the rats in the walls. We could hear an infestation in the walls by the bathroom/kitchen upstairs. Not very pleasent. The host said the hot tub worked but we could never get it warmed up. But all in all we enjoyed our stay, for the most part

Beautiful house

The house is very beautiful and comfortable. It came with everything we needed. It was so cozy we just stood there and enjoyed the house. The view from the front and back is beautiful. I would recommend others to stay here. I would rent it again.

long weekend stay

The house is older and and all it's features are older. Such as the beds, cabinets etc. It was equipped with everything we needed for our stay.

Family Getaway

The property was old and obviously not maintained. Many items were broken or in need of upgrade-refridgertor drawer, bathroom door, cupboards and door frames were horribly scratched. The kitchen was lacking in supplies and dishware, etc.

Pros: It was perfect for our party of 15. The house was clean, comfy, spacious and close to stores. Wonderful location. Garage was perfect for our van. Heater worked. Gorgeous windows and views throughout the day. Plenty of pillows, blankets and towels for all. Pool table kept kids having fun. The puzzle was fun. Lots of outlets, although many were loose. Cons: The dishwasher was not working so that was a hassle, considering there were 15 of us. The bathroom door upstairs needed fixing as well as the sliding doors leading to the outside. The jacuzzi didn’t work on our second day ( I suggest better instructions & labels) so we weren’t able to used it. A gentlemen came on our third day and turns out it just needed more water, so we missed out on a day of jacuzzi time. The oven wouldn’t close properly so it had to be rigged with a chair so it would close all the way. More forks were needed. Most of the lamps had no switches so we couldn’t use them unless we plugged them in & out. Labels on the light switches would be helpful as there are a lot. The shower head in the hallway bathroom didn’t work very well. Overall it was a great stay and a great experience.

Colossal waste of money

No air conditioning! TV setup is poor at best, very dated accommodations, pool table is garbage, shower heads were plugged up, driveway is too narrow, exposed copper wires in the kitchen, cobwebs everywhere, and much more. The house is presented as an gem above the lake, and you can barely see a sliver. As far as a gem, maybe invest $100k to have it match the ad representation.

Hello Christina, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and give us feedback on the home as well as your stay. Unfortunately, only 10% of homes in Big Bear have AC. This home just so happens to be one of the homes that do not have it. We do list this in the description of the home. What we do recommend, due to the majority of the homes not having AC, is opening the windows at night, as well as turning on the ceiling fans, and some of the box fans in homes. We apologize that the home was not cleaned properly before hand. This is not what we like to hear from our tenants, and not up to our standards. We will make note of the home not being properly cleaned and address it right away with our cleaning staff. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Not what was expected

Not happy. Didn;t get the paperwork that tells us what to do to get in. The Surroundings and walk ways were dangerous. The bed sheets were dirty. Didn't realize it until we went to bed, so we had to wash them first. It was so hot that we were soaked. If there was curtains or a reflective window protection the sun would not have been so hot. with no A/C it's not comfortable. The deck out by the grill had nails and screws coming up from it. My nephew steped on one. It's also comming apart. The curtains are not up properly. The king bed was broke and all the bed were old. Screens needed changing. Plug covers were broke in bedroom. This place really needed help.

Old and rundown

Overall, it was OK. However, we were met with a few mice inside. Also, when we were cooking, we went to use some pots that were in the pantry and they were put away dirty. All of the pots and pans were in really bad shape. There were a total of 16 of us and we were only allowed to park three cars even though the garage was empty and could have fit two, so the fourth car we had to find a place to park it in town. The driveway could have easily fit four. The cabin itself is older and seems to be starting to fall apart. We went to use the pool table that had a cover on it, and the felt was really dirty and stained. A lot of the cabinets are very worn and one of the bathroom doors came off the tracks when we went to shut it. The downstairs shower was clogged and filled up with water, and we had to have a handyman come out to unclog it. The beds were comfortable and all in all it served its purpose but we won’t be returning.

Very spacious property that was perfect for our dual family getaway with lots of teenagers!! The upstairs area is beautiful and well laid out for large group gatherings and the downstairs has all of the bedrooms. The large communal bedroom is above the garage. Property was as described & we really enjoyed our stay. However, as other reviews mentioned, the upstairs space was really hot!! We were there in early August with 88 degree days and by the afternoon it was 95 degrees upstairs due to all of the beautiful windows (a shade or curtains would be so nice). There isn't much airflow either, but the cool hot tub helped. We'd just jump in to cool off. We had issues with the hot tub - only got it to warm to about 95 degrees one time and the rest of the time couldn't get it to work - but we made the most of it and enjoyed the cool tub. The lake was fabulous and much warmer than expected. We would stay again.

Big Bear Vacation

I loved the house and the view it was very beautiful andcomfortable However the kitchen stove needs to be updated missing handles dishwasher was also a little mildewed however The shower head was weak no strong at all. Very little water pressure . The overall home was very spacious for my family..Thanks for having us...

Charming Cabin

This cabin looks a little quirky and it definitely is! It feels authentic with the heavy wood, and eclectic decor. The great room is excellent for hanging out in all day, plenty of space for the 9 people we had. The hot tub is oddly placed downstairs but hey, it’s still a hot tub. The only disappointment was what they had on hand - no salt or pepper, yet a ton of cookware, and nothing in the showers. The sheets in two of the beds also seemed to have not been cleaned prior to our stay. All in all, would stay again, but prepare to bring a few essentials if you plan to stay in!

Destination Big Bear supplies bath towels, bed linens, toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, cleaning sponge, and minimal cleaning supplies. We do not supply shampoo, conditioner or shower soap. Hair dryers not guaranteed in all cabins. Each home has a different inventory of kitchen appliances and supplies. When traveling with a larger group like yours, that space is very much needed.
