It was the perfect 'pit stop' for us needing to be close to Albert Park. After a long day it was great to come back, cook up a delicous feed,or sneak down to some restaurants near by. We will return!

The host was very welcoming. The apartment was in a great position to the beach and St Kilda. The only downside was the keys to the gate. They really need to get them fixed, as sometimes itntook up to 20 minutes to get in the gates.

Great Location and Accomodating

My partner and I had the unfortunate position of having to move for a few weeks whilst our rental had to do a bathroom renovation due to some leaks. The property manager for this property was very accomodating and responsive to our needs and when the property couldn’t be rented to us anymore they were quick to find suitable accomodating for the remaining time. The property itself is a nice simple one bedroom with modern furnishings and a nice central locating in Elwood and the beach. For the duration we stayed we probably needed a bit more wardrobe space to put our belongings but for a short stay this is suitable. If we had to we would rent with Maisonettes again.

Overall, the experience was disappointing. Although the house looks nice in the photos, it lacks basic amenities that make the place livable: the wardrobe is unusable (the worst I’ve seen in 50 countries), there was no dinning chairs, just primitive stools, and there’s no dryer, an issue in winter, there weren't basic hooks for jackets. The bathroom ventilation is broken, causing mold and respiratory problems, and the bed blankets are uncomfortably cold. It feels like the property was optimized to cut maintenance costs rather than comfort. Moreover, they were quite money-grabbing, charging for every little thing. They charged me extra fee to upgrade the sofa, and despite my nine-week stay, they still wanted me to charge an extra night for early check-in. The host experience felt overly transactional and uncompromisingThe host exists, but there is no true support at all: replies are slow, and sometimes days pass with no assistance. I spent four days struggling to open the gate; despite daily requests, I received no help and had to figure out an unusual, poorly maintained way to operate the lock, suffering outside in the cold. For the price, I expected much better accommodation and support. I strongly do not recommend this place, and I would never return.

Many of the points raised relate to features that are accurately represented in the listing. The property photos clearly show the dining stools, the style of the wardrobe, and the amenities provided, including that there is no clothes dryer. Guests are encouraged to review the listing details before booking to ensure the property suits their needs. Regarding the bathroom ventilation, we were not made aware of any issue during your stay. Had this been reported, we would have arranged for it to be inspected as soon as possible. We also did not receive any reports regarding mould or the bedding being unsuitable. In relation to support, we responded to your messages throughout your stay and assisted where possible. The sofa upgrade and early check-in fee were optional services, and these charges were clearly communicated in advance rather than being unexpected costs. We’re sorry to hear you experienced difficulty operating the gate. While we understand this was frustrating, our records show guidance was provided, and we appreciate the feedback as it helps us identify where clearer instructions may be beneficial for future guests. We value all guest feedback and will continue looking for ways to improve the experience for future stays. We wish you all the best in your future travels.

Good location shame about the property

Location good. Old property with narrow stairs. Not good access for older patrons or those physically challenged. Kitchen good plenty of light. Bed was low and uncomfortable, clean. No where to put a suitcase except on the bed or sofa. Two electric heaters. Only one worked. Two lamps in the living room, only one worked. No air conditioning. Bedroom and living room had minimal natural light due to the proximity of the adjacent building. Bathroom small but functional. Shower is in a narrow bath. Showering would be difficult for older people or this physically challenged. Property manager unhelpful although she did make an effort to make contact but not really interested.
