Great location, cosy cottage and the beach a field away, brilliant. Also our boys loved the farm which is next door, especially the weighing scales for the trailers. A great family trip and will be back.

Visited Poppy Cottage 3 times now. The cottage is cosy, clean and has everything you need. The garden is safe and secure for our dog Walter.

Very clean. Had everything needed for a relaxing stay. Ver close to a beautiful beach. Easy access to places to visit. This is our 2nd stay and we can't wait to book again.

We went on a little doggie holiday. The cottage was perfect and enclosed garden was amazing. We did not get to use the saunas right over the road. They looked amazing. Beach access was so close and really quiet. Seen Alison and Phil who were really knowledgeable and helpful would love to go again 10/10

Lovely cottage in a perfect location

Great property...very clean and hospitable. Felt very homely as soon as we arrived. If you plan to spend a lot of time on Druridge Bay then this is the property for you. It's literally a five minute walk to the shoreline! Highly recommend this lovely cottage!

Poppy Cottage

The cottage was beautifull and had everything needed for a relaxing stay. The best beach we've ever been on and our collie Walter loved it. Plenty of places to visit. We went to the stunning Bamburgh Castle. We will definitely book again next year.

Great location close to beach

This is a great little cottage very close to the beach. A good base for visiting Northumberlands coast. We loved the log fire and the underfloor heating. The house is generally quiet , though being close to a farm you can hear cows and chickens from the early morning. The property manager was very supportive and responsive to the minor issues we encountered.

Poppy cottage

Lovely cozy cottage for a relaxing stay. Our only disappointment was we could not our small/medium size dog off the lead in the garden as she could get out under the gates.

great cottage in a fantastic location , the cottage was well equipped and spotless , the beach was just what was needed to recharge the batteries , the dog ran free , the Northumberland disc parking scheme was a bonus , all council car parks saying disc parking is free , lots to do in the local area , to good pubs for meals locally not forgetting the ice cream shop at Cresswell , we will be booking again

Poppy Cottage

A lovely comfortable cottage, with a warm feeling. Everything there that we required, maybe a couple more 'Pyrex dishes' would have been helpful for cooking, as we ate in most days. Owners on hand and contactable if required but not obtrusive. Area is lovely, with a magnificent beach only 100 metres away. Plenty to see and visit in the locality. Will definitely return if we visit this area again.

holiday 2014

We enjoyed our holiday at Druridge Bay. The cottage was very nice and had everything needed. We enjoyed the cake that was provided by the owner, also tea, coffee and milk. The beach was a big hit with the dogs as it was very quiet and they could run around without disturbing anyone. Will be returning again.

Wonderful Peaceful Cottage

Cottage was ready and waiting for us on our arrival and the owner had left tea, coffee and scones to welcome us. As we settled in the owner called to make sure we had everything we needed and to drop of a pint of milk for us. The cottage was warm, comfortable and well equiped having everything we needed for our stay. We had two dogs with us who were made equally welcome by the owners. The Garden is enclosed with a pedestrian gate onto a verge, ideal when on foot, and double gates onto the road for vehicles. With a bit of manouvering we were able to get both cars onto the gated drive, not one as suggested. A short walk takes you to a lovely clean beach with North Sea rollers. Dogs are allowed on the beach and we were able to walk for miles admiring the scenery. Short drives away are lots of other beautiful beaches equally welcoming to people and dogs. Worth a visit is the nearby Warkworth castle and the fishing village of Craster with its wonderful smoke house with an array of smoked sea food. Further afield is the Lovely Kielder Forest and reservoir which is a haven for walkers and cyclists. The biggest endorsement I can give is we would visit the cottage again. The cottage is an ideal base for those who want to get out and about but there are plenty of walks on hand if you don't want to travel around.

TRANQUIL ESCAPE

Beautiful cosy cottage decorated to a very high standard, fully equipped with all amenities. The owner Alison, has taken such care in ensuring that guests are fully catered for. We had such a relaxing week here with the idylic beach within a few minutes stroll just across the dunes. This is part of a working farm but there isn't any noise from the farm and the view is lovely. As it is pretty isolated transport is essential to reach shops and places of interest. Highly recommended, don't miss out on this one.

Great Holiday

Had a fantastic family holiday at Poppy Cottage. The cottage itself is perfectly suited for a family of four and very comfortable. It has everything you need and is clean and well kept. The cottage is also in an excellent location for easy access to a stunning beach (which we made the most of despite it being February!) and a short drive away from many of the excellent attractions on offer in Northumberland - Bamburgh Castle, Alnwick Gardens and Cragside were all places we visited and enjoyed. Thanks Alison for a lovely holiday - we'll be back!

Excellent Cottage

My Wife and I along with our two Bassett Hounds stayed for a week in the cottage. The cottage was excellent in all regards, well laid out and well equiped and furnished, the underfloor heating and log stove made the cottage very cosy on a few windy nights. The walks onto the beach were wonderful,the whole beach is literally miles and miles of unspoilt sands. The Country Barn farm shop and cafe just up the road sell superb local food. The cottage is located south of most of the attractions, but the extra travelling is more than made up for by its location on the beach and the quality of the cottage itself. The village of Warkworth and its castle, Alnmouth and Alnwick are all just a short car journey away and all worth a visit, whilst slightly further away Holy Island, Bamburgh and Low Newton are great to visit.

Our Holiday

We have just returned home after a brilliant 2 weeks stay in Northumberland at Poppy Cottage.The cottage is bright and spacious in a quiet location.It is the perfect base for exploring the stunning coastline and many castles in the area.The beach is only a minutes walk across a field and over the sand dunes then you can walk for miles in either direction,it is also an excellent location for spotting wildlife .Thank you Alison for being so welcoming and we will definitely be coming back.My children have both said it was" the best holiday ever" x

Beautiful and quiet location

Lovely location just the other side of sand dunes and a very large unspoilt sandy bay with very few people on it. The house was very clean and the garden was totally enclosed by stone walls and a farm gate so safe for dogs and young children. On the edge of the owner's farm so lots of lovely cattle to see and the owners and family made us very welcome and provided enough food on our arrival for a good breakfast including eggs from the hens next door. Enjoyed Alnwick gardens and the National Trust properties. Trip to Seahouses and wonderful boat trip to Farne Islands with thousands of Puffins popping up from the sea - magical. Morpeth is the local town and interesting to walk around.

Fabulous cosy cottage

The cottage is refurbished to a high standard and is definitely a home from home. Really clean and well maintained, it is a fantastic base to explore the beautiful surrounding Northumberland coastal villages and beaches. The cottage is located literally over the road from Druridge Bay which is a lovely long sandy beach and is exceptionally quiet - a beautiful space to have an early morning or late evening walk, as well as spending a lazy sunny day! The owners live next door and are friendly but unobtrusive - customer service was amazing - we couldn't locate the barbecue and after texting early morning, a brand new barbecue was purchased, built and in the garden by early afternoon, ready for us to use in the evening - couldn't ask for more than that! A car is a necessity as if there is not much to walk to, other than the beach. However, that is more than made up for by the excellent facilities within a short drive. Beaches, pubs, restaurants, shops and more are available in all directions. A good supermarket is a short drive away, enabling you to stock up for your stay. The cottage is dog friendly and is a great holiday if you intend taking your dog as all beaches and the vast majority of pubs in the area are dog friendly. Unfortunately we could only stay for 4 nights but would have loved to stay longer. We certainly intend on returning and look forward to it. I would certainly recommend and have already personally recommended to friends and family.

Nice stay

This is a really nice cottage situated across from an amazing sandy beach that is massive and nearly always empty. The property was very clean and well furnished. There is a good layout with a very large area to leave beach stuff and boots. There are two toilets a bath and a shower. There is a good garden with a bbq. This is a great place for a family.
