Maison des 'Etoiles is an architectural masterpiece sitting on the northern face of the Gros Piton, a World Heritage Site, and is the highest Villa. The three-sided home is built of Greenheart wood native to the rain forest and volcanic rock which bubbled to the surface millions of years ago. If you love to go natural, this is the vacation home of your dreams. The home is artistically decorated with carvings from local artists which blend into the rich deep wood grains of the Greenheart. This is a truly unique home which you will only experience once in a lifetime.

The expansive view from the villa's multiple decks unveil one of the world's famous World Heritage Sites, consisting of the heavenly blue Caribbean Sea, the cliff of the Gros Piton and the majestic Petit Piton. The two Piton Mountains are the symbols for St. Lucia and Maison des 'Etoiles is enveloped in this spectacularly beautiful mountainous setting. A true Nature Lovers Paradise!

The home has an expansive living room with a volcanic waterfall as its central theme, one master bedroom with its own sitting deck and full bathroom, and two guest rooms which share a second bathroom. The second bedroom also has its own sitting area and spectacular view. All bedrooms enjoy a panoramic view of the Caribbean Sea and Sky. A full-sized dining room seats eight as candlelight flickers in the light ocean breeze. The bathrooms are a combination of volcanic rock and natural wood. Enjoy a sizzling hot shower while hearing the birds singing outside. There is a third-story tower which can be used as a sitting area or sleeping area. At night reach out and touch the personal star you are making a wish on.

Newly remodeled Kitchen is a chief's dream. Our guest consistently rave about Mary's cooking for them. Come and enjoy a relaxing vacation with wonder local food being cooked for you if you are interested.

Absolutely stunning

As multiple others have stated, while the listing pictures are beautiful, the actual property & views are better - simply spectacular!The owner answered all of our (many) questions quickly & was great to work with.Selecting the option of a house car driver during our stay was the best decision we made. The roads in the area are challenging at best; Pius (the driver) navigated them with skill & ease. He was incredibly polite, unbelievably prompt, & had great restaurant suggestions as well.While we did not utilize Mary (housekeeper) for any cooking, she too was incredibly polite & kept the property spotless.Simply an amazing place to stay - highly recommend!

Amazing stay

The villa is perfectly situated on the side of Gros Piton with a beautiful view of the ocean and Petite Piton. Mary prepared a wonderful welcome dinner and Pius was available to help us with any needs around the property. On clear nights the view of the stars from the tower deck is breathtaking. I would recommend this home to any and everyone looking to enjoy a peaceful retreat in Saint Lucia!

Remote but world class view

This house is so unique and special. The views of the pitons are indescribable. The things we most enjoyed- the view, especially yoga from the crows nest, also the stars, having evenings to watch TV in an air conditioned media room, pool days, meeting Mary and Pius and enjoying Mary’s cooking and Pius driving, naturally waking up to the daylight coming in. We ate went out for dinners at Ladera and close by soley kouche. Both were awesome. Things to know- we drove and also had Pius drive some. Wish we had gotten a 4 wheel drive but we made it without. Also adding Pius to rental insurance. The roads are rough and steep getting to the house and all over the island. The house location is awesome but know there it is highest house on mountain and not much close by. Thankfully Mary and Pius check in often and Pius answers what’s app quickly. We had some mosquitos and lizards but not many other critters. Just take bug spray. It is humid in St Lucia and even with the fan above the bed I was glad I took a portable small fan for night. Sugar beach is closest beach- I would personally not have wanted to walk there- very steep road. We drive down the road and parked on the side of the road closish to the beach. The beach is public, but the resort staff and bar aren’t the most welcoming if you are not staying at resort. Overall this place is so unique and amazing especially for the nature lover and we had such an adventurous but also relaxing time.

Back to nature

We enjoyed our time at this house. The view is amazing. We loved being away from the crowds at resorts and really appreciated the alone time. I recommend hiring Pius to drive you around. The house is hard to find and the roads are tricky. Mary is a great cook and makes the house welcoming. The pool was a huge benefit and I think we used it every day. We went diving 2 days and used Chester at Action Adventure diving. Chester was recommended in other reviews and made the dives perfect. Dive the wreck if you can. It rained almost every day very hard but only last a short time and then it’s sunny again. There was a nice breeze so it was never too hot. We are from Florida so we are used to the heat. It’s an open air concept so don’t book if you are afraid of a few lizards. We were never bothered by bugs though. If I had to find a negative it would be the bed in the primary was a bit hard and uncomfortable. This was by far the most memorable vacation and I’m glad we choose this house!

Hidden gem with abundant views

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and couldn’t have picked a better location to stay. David was quick to respond to all communication. Mary & Pius were a true pleasure and very helpful during our stay. After a long day of travel, Mary’s welcome dinner was simply amazing. We wish we would have reserved another night ahead of time to enjoyed more of her cooking. The pics simply don’t do this place justice. The architecture, & attention to detail that went into building this place is incredible. We weren’t sure what to expect with the open air concept, but we were pleasantly surprised and had no issues with bugs. The evenings were cool and comfortable once the sun set, & the pool was refreshing after spending the day hiking and snorkeling in the sun. The view from the master bedroom & the observation tower is unreal, but there isn’t a bad view from anywhere here. The bathrooms with all of the stone and rock were the coolest! Many people spoke of needing ear plugs due to the sounds of nature at night, but we normally sleep with a white noise machine & didn’t need one and didn’t mind the noise at night. With the sun rising earlier here, & no way to block out the light we were always up way earlier than typical so if I had to do it over again, I would bring a sleep mask. I would MOST definitely recommend going to Soley Kouche for dinner one night. The view was great, drinks were yummy, & the food was spectacular!!

One of a kind - wonderful stay

Echoing much of the themes of previous reviews: wondeful, architecturally intriguing house, Mary and Pion are great, walked down to the Gross Piton trail, as well as to a beach. Had a wondeful time, and would not hesitate to book again! But a couple notes that weren't negatives for us, more like tradeoffs to keep in mind: - open air is great, but middle bedroom doesn't have as consistent airflow as other main bedroom, and is subject a little more to humidity. Half our nights were great - half were less so, had to move a fan from unused bedroom and/or sleep a little in the downstairs room w A/C to cool down before going up to bed. - will be a 15-20 min drive away from groceries / restaurants, and most any activity. Island is very geared toward serving guests at resorts, day-trips from cruise ships etc. so things like roadside stands, local gathering spots etc for independant travelers were not common here, so we're at house more than what we planned - which is not a bad thing! Like I said everything at the house was as-shown/-promised, if not better! If the house interests you, and can handle moderately bumpy roads with British-based driving, do it!

My family's favorite house ever

The house is truly a work of art and as much as my family enjoyed exploring Saint Lucia, we all agreed that the house was the highlight of our trip. One of a kind view/house

The house has an incredible view. Features an open house concept which was both unique and enjoyable. Bedrooms had fantastic views. Pool was nice. Good kitchen to cook, the grill is propane and no longer requires charcoal so while we purchased some as the description stated to, it was not necessary, I wish that was updated. Home caretakers were friendly.

A Living Work of Art

This house jumped out at me from the VRBO listings and booking here was the best decision. Communication with David was great for all the arrangements. The home itself is a work of art that frames an unforgettable view. We liked the open layout and the two ensuite bedrooms with rock wall showers. Nice to have AC in the kitchen and media room, which was perfect for our remote-working night-owl son. Cool breezes and remarkably insect-free throughout the home. Refreshing and beautifully maintained pool. Roof deck is a dream location for photos, videos and just admiring the view. We're so thankful that Pius was available to drive our rental car. Mary made sure we never wanted for fresh towels or anything else. Her welcome dinner was much appreciated. The kitchen is well-equipped if you decide to do your own cooking. This is good location for everything you want to do in and around the pitons if you have a car. We recommend Action Adventure divers and a dip in the natural hot tubs of Piton Falls. In hindsight we would not have done the tough drive to Pigeon Island, even with Pius at the wheel. The wildlife sounds are loud at night, so bring earplugs and a small flashlight to get around safely after dark. Otherwise just relax and enjoy this memorable home base for your own St. Lucia adventure.

Great spot! Amazing views, the open air home felt very close to nature. Our friend did get a lot of bites, but she said totally worth it! Seeing a rainbow over the Pitons as you wake up in your king bed is quite the experience! Check in was great and Mary and the staff were very helpful and polite. Highly recommend booking this paradise of a spot

Magical villa on Gros Piton

The villa and location are gorgeous! Everything I wanted to do was within 25 min driving distance. Mary and Pius made our trip special and stress free. Pius alone, makes it worth renting the villa! He drove us, made dinner reservations, scheduled a massage therapist, got a birthday cake, cleaned our car...nothing was too much to ask! He did things without us asking and made it look easy. Mary is the heart of the house and we enjoyed her cooking several nights. She also did laundry, changed sheets and towels and did our dishes. We greatly appreciated them both and are lucky we got to meet them! They made our trip easy. The villa is sprinkled with lizards and a bit of magic! We didn't have any issues with bugs. Don't hesitate and rent this place! The view is one for the books! It would be difficult if you don't enjoy nature or if you have mobility issues, there's a lot of stairs. We loved our stay!

A Villa to Experience

One cannot describe this property, it must be experienced. After reading many of the reviews and looking at all the photos, I still experienced awe when arriving at this villa. The openess is like being in nature without sleeping in a sleeping bag. The view is spectacular. Having a cup of coffee in the morning and watching the sun rise made you want to just stay in place all day. We were lucky enough to have a full moon during out stay and provided us with an incredible show at night. We were a group of five women - ages 76, 49, 45, 20, and 14. Everyone enjoyed staying at this beautiful property. We did not experience any bugs much at night. We had a few moths which were eagerly gobbled up by the lizards. The lizards were our friends - they did not bother us; we did not bother them. It is a must that you have transportation to go anywhere from this villa. You can walk to Sugar Beach but it is a very steep road so be prepared to take a slow walk to and fro. There is a brand new restaurant - Soley Kouche - very near the house but not within walking distance. The views and sunset from this restaurant are lovely. The food and service were impeccable. As all the other reviews mention, Mary and Pius are your guardian angels while you stay at the villa. They were a delight and so much help to us. We never worried about security because one of them was always around. In addition, as the owner states, the community takes care of you. The locals were friendly and kind. Highly recommend

Best vacation ever!!

The villa is absolutely magical. The views are incredible. And Mary and Pius are exceptional. Mary’s cooking was the best! Any time we had any questions, Pius was always there to help. The sounds of breeze at night made for some of the best sleep I’ve had in years. St.Lucia is filled with so much beauty and rich with so much history. I really can’t say it enough, best vacation ever!!!

I found this listing years ago while dreaming of a St. Lucia vacation. I saved it thinking one day it would be a reality. Finally, we planned the trip and this house was the first place I thought of! This house is stunning and the view is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It was truly breathtaking. People who have seen our photos assumed we “knew someone rich” because of how amazing the house and location were. They are shocked when we tell them that it’s a vrbo rental! And well-priced at that. It far and away beats any view resorts can offer. David, the owner, was very communicative and always answered any and all questions we had prior to the trip. Mary and Pius are incredibly helpful and present when you need them. My only complaint is the bugs. I read reviews thoroughly before traveling and I was specifically worried about bugs given then entire house is open. No one seemed to have an issue so I assumed it would not be one. We were inundated with bugs- moths, beetles, ants, mosquitoes… dead/alive, huge/tiny everywhere on the property. They were all over the house, on kitchen counter, in our loaf of bread before we even opened it, on the built in dressers etc. I only mention it so others can be better prepared. It did not negatively affect my husband or kids, but it was hard for me to deal with. Aside from that, it was an incredible experience and I would highly recommend this location! I wouldn’t have wanted to visit St Lucia any other way.

The caretakers of the property (Mary and Pius) are absolutely lovely and the view is impossible to beat. However, if you stay here be prepared to drive for any amenities. If you do not have a vehicle, anticipate at least $50-$75 USD to go to the nearest grocery store and a little less to a restaurant. The villa itself did not live up to expectations for the rental - over $7,000 USD for 2 weeks). One of the bedrooms is really only suitable for a close family member/child as you have to walk through the bedroom to reach the master bedroom. When we seemed surprised that there were not more insects in the villa (given it is all open) we were told that they spray all the floors and baseboards with insecticide - assuring us that if any bugs found there way into the house they "would already be dead"... Unfortunately we were already walking around in bare feet for 10 days - wearing shoes is highly recommended. The kitchen is fully functional - has pretty much everything you need, but could use a sound scrubbing. How things were to be billed/paid for ( directly with the caretakers or not. - and when). was not clear and consequently a little awkward. The "media room" has air conditioning ( a plus on a hot eve), however it is extremely musty - to the point we watched movies on a laptop instead of going into the room. The "volcanic centre piece waterfall" in the living room was not operational. However the pool was great and well maintained.

That View!!!

Wow! Pulling up to this incredible home with incredible views was a beyond my expectations! I’m a beach girl and waking up to these views may have changed my mind a bit. Mary and Pious were so sweet and willing to answer questions we had. Easy access to the Gros Piton which is a bucket list hike accomplished. Enjoyed our stay !

Unbelievable experience

I cannot underscore enough how amazing this place is. The open air architecture provides a breathtaking view of the ocean and pitons at just about every square inch of the villa. You fall asleep looking at the stars and wake up to the sounds of local wildlife and views of the early morning ocean haze. The beds were clean and cozy, and the house was equipped with everything you might need. Sugar beach, one of the most stunning on the island, is a quick 5 minute drive from the villa. Everything about the accommodations was perfect, but the best part was the warm hospitality of hosts Mary and Pius. Mary cooked us an incredible welcome dinner and came through each morning to tidy up and provide fresh towels. Pius was available to drive us anywhere on the island throughout our stay, always accommodating our schedule and making multiple pickups/dropoffs per day. This was essential, as it quickly became clear we would not have been able to navigate the steep and winding roads of the island on our own. Pius went above and beyond, even arranging a wonderful private dinner for us at local restaurant Zabriko (which I highly recommend). Mary and Pius’s kindness, generosity, and hospitality made our trip comfortable, seamless, and overall outstanding. I look forward to returning someday to this magical place with such wonderful people.

We took our boat from Ohio all the way down to St Lucia. We love adventure. When we arrived in St Lucia we anchored at Sugar Beach and saw the Villa from a distant. We have sailed around the world. Our Villa is in the hands of our staff who have been at the property since it was built. When you rent the Villa you are renting it from us not a management company who may have no personal interest in your stay.

Love at first sight. When we where looking on the Island and the minute we walked through the door we knew this was a special place and we where meant to own.

Calm, peaceful and constant exotic scenery. Near the beach and has a wonderful hike up the Gros Piton in it's backyard. Also close to shopping and great places to visit. Enjoy the pool and relaxed atmosphere of the surrounding area.
