Truly breath-taking experience
We stayed at the cabin for a few days in August 2019 and I am so happy that we did. The BBQ grill was used nightly and the views from the cute deck were awe-inspiring. There is no cable or netflix; however, there are a few great DVDs in there! We watched cityslickers and I loved that movie! The kitchen is well equipt and even has a dishwasher. The roads coming in are bumpy but we got through them fine with our Subaru Outback- if you want to drive through them quickly then I suggest getting a nice jeep or truck with great shocks and suspension haha! We used this cabin as our homebase for Yellowstone and it was perfect. We wrote down our recommendations on things to do inside the guest book :) Thank you so much for letting us stay at this peaceful cabin!
Unmaintained Road Made Access Difficult
The cabin was nice. The owners are helpful and responsive. However, getting to the cabin once you leave the highway was very difficult on an awful unmaintained rock filled road. After check in, owners advise guests to open and close a metal farm gate to go in and out, unlocking and locking gate with a key for security reasons. This was not expected nor welcome. Fortunately I did not end up having to unlock, open, close and relock gate the times I went out.
The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, glasses, utencils, cooking gear and daily basics like coffee, tea and condiments. Bathroom had basic amenities for anything forgotten.
Things cabin lacked. No TV service other than for use of DVDs. No hair dryer. No washer/dryer. Stools for kitchen counter are tall bar height but counter is standard height so awkward to eat. No kitchen table just kitchen counter and bar stools. Couch was not full size and not very comfortable.
While cabin was generally clean, there were some tiny dead bugs and misc. debris in a few lower cabinets and fridge. Cabin needs a fly swatter. I used a newspaper to kill the flies. The bed mattress was modestly comfortable. The steps into cabin are extremely narrow and steep.
If one wants a remote cabin experience with mountain views this is a good option. The drive to Yellowstone’s north gate at Gardiner,MT is about a 45 minute drive once you get back on the highway. Once you leave the cabin and get thru the gate, you need to plan about 10 minutes and drive very very slowly on the unmaintained dirt and rock filled road to get from cabin to main highway. This cabin is unique and could be a very nice remote escape, though it seems to be priced a bit high for what it is and what the road situation is. One needs to understand what to expect road wise and what amenities are lacking depending on what your plans are. It could be a nice option for some.
House was perfect! Views are incredible! Elise was great to work with!
The house was great, perfect for my husband and I. Elise was great to work with and we really enjoyed it. Loved sitting on the porch in the evenings after we returned from our daytime adventures! Was nice having the kitchen and grill to cook and her extras with condiments and any bathroom items if you forgot then was very helpful! The drive from Gardiner to the cabin is a beautiful drive! The only negative is the road once you get off the main road. Really rutty and if you don’t have 4 wheel drive, it is really slow! However, once you get there and see the views, you do forget about the road!! Thanks for having us!!
Thank you for being such great guests to host at the cabin. I'm glad you found it to be an enjoyable and relaxing stay despite the rutty road conditions that last 1 mile of your journey here.
The property was great. We enjoyed our stay.
I loved the cabin. Downtown Livingston was also great. I would like to add that they advertised as having a plentiful amount of towels. We had 2 for 3 days. A little disappointed in that. It was very well stocked and clean.
I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at the cabin, the spare towels and wash clothes were in the bathroom cabinet as mentioned in the walk-thru - it would have been no trouble at all to have brought you 4 more towels if you needed them. Sorry to hear that.
Enjoyed our stayed loved the cabin and the view of the mountains. The Road to get there not so much
Great view in Paradise Valley
We had a great time here. The front porch has a wonderful view of the valley and is a great place to relax after a day in Yellowstone or nearby Livingston. It’s very close by a number of fishing and recreational locations. The owners were very nice, and we had a great conversation.
The property itself is beautifully clean and well-stocked. I can imagine the road in (right off 89) can be an adventure for lower clearances, but otherwise we had no issues. Would definitely return when we’re in the area again.
