Martyn and mary couldn’t have made better choice for holiday.

Lovely property in fabulous location . Owned and managed by charismatic couple who also own/manage popular local bar/restaurant. Excellent food friendly atmosphere. We lived in area for 20 years very happy reunion with friends.courtyard garden is a sun trap local shops supply most things

Lovely waterside gite

Surprisingly spacious - we were just 2 but plenty of room for 4 people, both rooms ensuite. The gem is the outside - right by the river with always something to see - Kingfishers, heron, ducks, solitary white goose, coypus, fish - very relaxing. Comfortable outside furniture too.

Excellent. On a adoré la terrasse avec le salon de jardin au bord de l’eau avec les couchers de soleil. Il y a aussi une table avec parasols pour déjeuner. La maison est très très calme : aucune fenêtre ne donne sur la rue ou sur la place. Il faut traverser une grange pour arriver sur la maison. Les deux chambres avec chacune une douche sont très sympas comme le reste de la maison. Pendant la canicule, nous avions des ventilateurs et nous pouvions laisser les fenêtres ouvertes car elles ont toutes des moustiquaires (on n’a pas été harcelé par les moustiques sur la terrasse). Nicky et Ken habitent juste à côté en cas de problème. La maison dispose de wifi (heureusement car il n’y a pas beaucoup de réseau dans le village). Pensez à demander une rallonge électrique à Ken si vous avez un rasoir électrique. Aucun problème pour se garer sur la place (parking gratuit). Il y a un poste de recharge électrique pour les voitures. Surtout il y a une supérette sur la place qui fait aussi charcuterie, boucherie, boulangerie et pâtisserie… pas besoin de se prendre la tête pour les courses. Autour il y a énormément de randonnées. Les topos avec cartes sont gratuits à l’office de tourisme de Montmorillon (20 mn en voiture) avec la vallée des fresques dont l’exceptionnelle abbaye de St Savin. Je recommande cette locationk.

Merveilleux !Au calme, sur une rivière, proche des beaux étangs de la Brenne et d'autres lieux intéressants. Accueil avec petites attentions, lits faits à l'arrivée , logement d'une propreté impeccable. La propriétaire est arrangeante, très réactive et discrète. Le gîte est meublé et décoré avec beaucoup de goût . Lors d'une semaine de canicule exceptionnelle, nous avons particulièrement apprécié la fraîcheur de l'intérieur (due à l'épaisseur des murs de cette ancienne grange). Tout est pensé pour le confort ( literie, moustiquaires aux fenêtres permettant d' aérer sans risques).A recommander sans hésiter ! C'est l'un de nos meilleurs gîtes.Françoise et Jean-Pierre D.

Behind the barn……

Perfect get away from it all, immaculately clean, two floors with all you need. Great outdoor space to watch the ducks on the water,super hosts.

Parfait

Magnifique gite meublé à l'anglaise et au calme au bord de la rivière. Pour nous c'était le meilleur gite jamais loué. L'équipement est complet, petite attention des propriétaire à l'arrivée, les lits sont confortables, nous nous sommes tout simplement senties tellement bien qu'on aurait pu rester encore bien plus longtemps que cette courte semaine de vacances. Un grand merci à Nicola et Ken.

Gîte en tout point parfait. Confort, propreté, situation... L’accueil de Nicky et Ken est vraiment super. Gentils, prévenants et pourtant discrets. Leurs sympathiques attentions avec une mention spéciale pour le gâteau de Nicky nous ont beaucoup touchés. Une région authentique à découvrir . Cathy et Henri

charmant gite tout confort en pleine campagne

des hôtes accueillants, généreux et discrets; un logement très fonctionnel : deux chambres indépendantes avec salle de bains et wc. Une cuisine bien équipée. Une terrasse donnant sur la rivière. Parfait pour quelques jours de repos. Les chemins balisés permettent aux marcheurs et coureurs de parcourir de grande distance en toute quiétude.

Very enjoyable stay

The "renovated barn" is a spacious, bright, and modern two-bedroom house, and we very much enjoyed our stay (5 nights) there. The rooms are large and comfortably furnished, and the kitchen is roomy and well-equipped. The house is directly on the river, with a lovely terrace on which to sit and watch the water flow. There is a relatively large car parking lot at the door, and a well-stocked grocer two doors down. Ken and Nicky are wonderful and generous hosts, and they went out of their way to make us welcome, and we really appreciated the wine, cheese, baguette, and cake that they provided for our arrival. They were also very quick to respond to our messages when we had questions. Our stay here was very pleasant and comfortable, and we will look forward to an opportunity to visit again.

Perfect!

The photographs of this gite were impressive enough, but the reality is even better! Beautifully designed, furnished, equipped - and impeccably clean. We have been renting gites in France for many years but like many other reviewers, we think this has to be the best. The location is lovely - very quiet....apart from Colin and the ducks.....and there is an amazingly well-stocked village shop a few yards away. Sadly there was nowhere to eat in the village, but this was a good reason to explore some of the beautiful local villages. Montmorillon is a lovely mediaeval town, and Le Blanc was also good to visit. We were exceptionally lucky to have very hot weather and the outside patio was well-used. We especially appreciated the thought behind having 3 different areas for sitting and eating - which followed the sun round, offering shade (or full sun) as the day wore on. My husband found the fishing pleasurable even though the level of the river was low. (He was pleased to get a very 'nice' carp -apparently!) Perhaps the greatest compliment we can pay is to say - we are very much intending to return!

The perfect Gite.

Our week staying in this beautiful gite was made perfect not only by the warmest welcome in person but also with a fabulous selection of basic groceries AND a gorgeous home made cake. The gite is beautifully decorated and sits in a stunning location next to the river in a friendly town which has all the local amenities within walking distance. The location is ideal for exploring the area which has a mixture of large and small towns within a short drive. Castles, churches & markets make for superb day trips but if you want complete rest and relaxation I don’t think you could ask for anything more here. Thank you for a fabulous holiday. Julie & Kevin

Great gite in a lovely setting by the river.

We had a really lovely few days staying at the River Barn. The Gite was ideal for our family of 4 with plenty of space and everything we needed. The decor is bright, contemporary and stylish. We particularly enjoyed sitting outside by the river for breakfast and an evening drink. La Trimouille is a good base to explore the area south east of Poitier, an area we had not stayed in before but we hope to return, and would definitely stay at this gite again. Nicky and Ken are excellent hosts and looked after us very well. The 'welcome pack' was much appreciated. Parking right next to the property is also very convenient.
