We had a lovely stay in Ocean Cottage.

We had a lovely stay in Ocean Cottage. Well placed in a Central location with everything in easy walking distance. Everything supplied and very comfortable. Stairs can be a little challenging but the property was roomy and well presented. Albeit we had a problem with the boiler one morning, the management company dealt with the issue very quickly and with great courtesy. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this venue.

great location in a quaint little cottage situated ideally just off queens street. great facilities but very steep stairs which was briefed in the description. would love to stay again and would recommend very highly.

I stopped here for a break over easter with my adult daughter and 2 young children of 7 and 3. We had an absolutely lovely time, the cottage was very cosy, lovely place. I have very few complaints, the overall stay was really good, my children coped well with all the stairs, no problems there. Recieved the Keycode fine, found the box fine. Bit overwhelming unloading the car in the street, would advise if you cant carry your stuff, to arrive later about 5 as its less busy. Same to pack up, get it done before 9 lol. Found parking ok even on the bank holidays, used the permit. Lots of walking though. The only issues i had with the cottage, was no instructions on how to use the heating, only found out about the hive box on the wall from the previous reviews, also no batteries for the hive box or the TV control, so had to go out and buy some. Also had to wash bedcovers which was fine, (dried really well once heating was sorted), it was the mattress that was the problem, that really needs to be changed. Shower was wonderful! We also took our Amazon firestick for the TV, (kids)... lol worked great. Beds were very comfy, would definitely stop at ocean cottage again, but without kids lol Didnt really have much dealing with the host, which is why ive scored low, coz didnt have contact enough to decide if it was an issue or not, but when i did message on a coupke of occasions with a question, they got back pretty quickly. Have a lovely holiday! Xxxx

Not as expected

Pleased with the location and privacy but the property is in need of a general overhaul & freshening up especially with regard to the paintwork on the stairs and that on the inside of the front door. The rug on the floor of the main bedroom is grubby - no longer white. When adjusting the sheet on the bed, I was shocked to see the state of the mattress protector - a lot of stains on it. The radio in the kitchen does not work. Finally, possibly a minor point, there are only 3 knives in the cutlery tray so if 4 people stay & happen to eat in, do they draw lots to see who gets the knives? We did enjoy our stay but you need to address the above if you expect people to leave good reviews.

3rd time we have stayed at ocean cottage since April 2018, always enjoyed our stay there. The only negative comment we would make is that the bathroom radiator has not worked since we started staying there - and was still not working this time!

Had a great holiday, the house was situated in a great place, the only niggle was the parking, but managed to get in a car park at the end of the street for 3 days at a reasonable price, the permit parking was a bit futher away. The house was well equipped, we all had a great time, a bonus we could take our dog too, would thoroughly recommend it. Doing the booking was very easy as well, and kept very up to date with emails too. All in all had a great time.

We found the cottage charming but practical too in an ideal location, right in the heart of Whitby. I would highly recommend it . It has been our favourite cottage so far and that means a lot , considering this is our 10th year here

The location of the property couldn't have been better.

The location of the property couldn't have been better. As we took two dogs the proximity to open grass and the beach dogs were allowed on was brilliant. The accommodation was much bigger than we were expecting given the age of the property and other cottages we have stayed in in Whitby. I would thoroughly recommend the cottage and will be booking again in the future.

We rented Ocean Cottage during a weekend's diving from the marina. The cottage is ideally situated close to all the local amenities, but tucked away in a "yard" so away from the noise and bustle of Church Street. Overall we were very pleased with the accommodation. The only minor irritation was in the hand rails to the stairs. Although clean, the paint had a sticky texture which made the handrail feel a little unusual.

The cottage was so different to what I was us to at home, it was quirky (matched East Whitby) with one room per floor (4 floors). Sometimes you would forget where you were. The rooms are all decorated nicely and it was a nice touch to have a packet of biscuit, hot drinks,milk etc as a welcome pack. The only downside is the parking, but we got round that with the free parking permit which was included in our stay but it was challenging loading/unloading the car outside the alley. You would get use to it but daunting first time. Overall, it was one of my favourite holiday's, the location of the cottage made it for us, as well as the cottage.

Quiet location set back from the hustle and bustle of Church St. Spacious and bright rooms for a period cottage. Everything you need is there. Four storeys so climbing up and down stairs keeps you fit!

We have enjoyed our time in Whitby for the last 20 years, 1st time in Ocean Cottage but it is in the perfect location for adults, kids and dogs. good value for what it costs and all you want when away from home, apart from the parking of course but the parking permits save you about £7 a day so accept the offloading through all the day trippers and load your car early when vacating and happy days.
