Unique place to stay

We’ve spent a wonderful weekend here with my wife! This house is unique given its peaceful location, views and layout. Soaking in the outdoor bath tub or stargazing at night is so relaxing. House is very well equipped and has everything for a great stay, surely be happy to come back! Thank you Ana for hosting us!

A beautiful Big Sur experience

Five of us stayed and thoroughly enjoyed the unique stone house. So comfortable and we had everything we needed. The outside setting is spectacular and loved enjoying the amazing views. Our host was very helpful and always available to answer our questions. Would definitely return!

Absolutely Dreamy

Wow. What a gorgeous property situated overlooking some of the most beautiful coastline I've ever seen. Ana's house is exceptionally well-equipped, cleanly, and gorgeous, and her communication was stellar. I would stay here again and again--highly recommend!

Great, remote spot with amazing views.

We had a small family gathering and this property worked out perfectly for us. Ana was excellent with her communication and we arrived well informed for our stay. Good wifi and no problems getting calls. We even got to stream the season opener of our local AHL team without any issues. Sunsets are gorgeous and the coastal views are breathtaking.

In a word...EXTRAORDINARY!!! Everything from the wonderful hostess (Ana), who by the way left beautiful flowers in the kitchen area and also the entertainment area, to the well stocked kitchen and a bottle of wine! We wished we could have stayed much longer as there were so many wonderful books, movies and music to chose from. To add to the view, there were deer, quail and the amazing view. Will most definitely love to stay there again. Elaine T.

Beautiful

If you want a secluded getaway with 180 degree ocean views and modern comfort, than this is the place for you. And if you like movies or books, there is a large and varied collection to choose from. Great for just a couple or 6 friends/family members. Fair warning: it is very straight-forward to get there but remote so bring your own food supplies and enjoy the fully stocked kitchen. Enjoy!

Dreamy Big Sur Holiday

What an incredibly special property and exceptionally beautiful place to ring in the New Year. Even in the cold and rain, the majesty of Big Sur was all around us. Ana is nothing short of a fabulous hostess. She was so available to us for any questions or thoughts. She left us wine and flowers upon arrival. The home was beautifully stocked with kitchen items but also books, and music. We loved it and hope to be back soon!

Serene and Peaceful

The design and management of the property fits perfectly with the somewhat remote location. Make sure to plan for groceries ahead of time. Once you're settled in, you're going to want to stay that way. The host do not expect you to clean the property for them which is pretty awesome in comparison to other, similar properties. All in all, 10/10 would stay there again.

Amazing view!

My husband and I along with another couple stayed 4 days at Stone House. Hwy 1 was closed just north of the house and initially we were bummed we couldn’t go in that direction. But we found so many great hiking trails right around us and the area did not disappoint. The house is unique in its set up and very well appointed. So nice to have such a well stocked kitchen too. Stone House is an amazing place to call home while visiting the Big Sur area. The views are too gorgeous for words. Ana is so nice and a great communicator. I highly recommend Stone House!!

Peaceful location

My family and I (8 adults total -they made a special acceptation for us for an extra fee) had a lovely stay at the Big Sur Stone house celebrating my daughter and my birthday. This beautiful location can not be beat - the outdoor set up is great and we spent a lot of time outdoors. Note the outdoor tub only accommodates 2 people at a time. The indoor areas are sufficient, one downside being that the bedroom in the kitchen section is not private and is open to the kitchen, which was not ideal. However, we wanted time away with each other in a peaceful and beautiful environment and we got that here. Cleanliness given 4 stars because this is a remote location and inevitably dust gets into the house. Also the kitchen could use a deep cleaning. Pros of the kitchen are the appliances (note the fridge makes noise running at night, which is tough for light sleepers - we used a fan and white noise machine to block the sound), the numerous spices onsite, and the pots and pans were good quality. We also had lots of fun playing games at the table in the living room that comfortably accommodated all of us. If you are looking for a quiet retreat with gorgeous views and are amenable to the uniqueness of an off-grid place, this might be the place for you.

Dear Anna and Seth, Thank you for your review of your stay. I’m very glad to hear you had a good time celebrating your birthday and your daughter's birthday at Stone House. Please feel welcome to return anytime. Also, thank you for your suggestions and observations about your stay, we appreciate your comment very much. We checked the settings on the refrigerator in the cottage wing and we noticed, as you did, that when set on its highest setting, it makes noise. As it may often be set at that level by other guests, we will replace that refrigerator with a different model. Also, we take your point that when the house has more than six guests there’s not sufficient privacy in the cottage kitchen alcove. Based on your suggestion, we will add some solid wood Shoji screens to separate that area of the small cottage.We were constrained by planning directives to keep the footprint of that cottage to 500 ft.²So we do see the need for adjustments over time to make it more comfortable. Big Sur Stone House

Unbelievable property…nice set up for multiple couples/people. Amazing location for views, privacy, but also close enough for day trips. We loved every minute of our stay here. Ana was timely when we arrived and she explained things perfectly to us. Highly recommend this property.
