Escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and come relax and unwind at Crane's Landing. A rustic Parry Sound cottage rental retreat nestled along the shore of beautiful Crane Lake. This beautifully maintained 3-season cottage is a great place to create lasting memories with family and friends while being immersed in nature. IMPORTANT NOTE! - The cottage is on a sloped lot, so you need to be comfortable with a long staircase to get up and down from the driveway to the cottage/waterfront. See pictures to get a feel for the staircase. The main cottage features 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, toaster, nespresso machine, kettle and everything else you'll need. Enjoy your meals at the dining table while enjoying views of the lake or sit outside at the patio table on the upper deck. The living room has a comfy sofa and loveseat where you can curl up with a good book, play cards, have fun with a board game or watch a movie. There is also a bunkie on the property that you can use for extra space, or if the kids just want a cool place to hang out. Crane Lake is located about 25 minutes south of Parry Sound. It's about a 10 minute drive after exiting Hwy 400 at Lake Joseph Road/Rankin Road. Along the way you'll enjoy the breathtaking scenery as you follow the winding road to the cottage. Pine trees, granite rock, lake views and local wildlife will all greet you along the way. Things to do at Crane's Landing
Enjoy the great outdoors by going out for a walk, hike or run. Jump In! Go for a refreshing swim just off the dock. Sit on the dock and enjoy a few drinks while soaking up the sunshine. Do some fishing. Go for a canoe or kayak ride and explore all the nooks and crannies Crane Lake has to offer. Sit out on the deck and enjoy a good book or just take in the soothing sights and sounds. For all you nature lovers head out and do some bird or wildlife watching. Sit around a campfire and make some s'mores in the evening. If you have your own boat you can get it into the water at the local boat launch nearby; Mike's Crane Lake Marina is located on Blackstone Crane Lake Road if you need anything. If you get restless you can always head out and explore some of the nearby towns.

Waterfront
The land slopes quite steeply and continues at the waterfront so that the water deepens quickly from the shore. The lake bottom is Canadian Shield rock, about 6-8 feet or more off the end of the dock, and weed-free, and there is southern exposure. It is good for swimmers but perhaps not the ideal choice for toddlers and non-swimmers.
Trivia The body of water that gives the town of Parry Sound its name was surveyed and named by Captain (later Admiral) Henry Wolsey Bayfield in the 19th century, in honour of the Arctic explorer Sir William Edward Parry. In 1857, the modern townsite was established near the Ojibwa village of Wasauksing ("shining shore") at the mouth of the Seguin River. Parry Sound's other claim to fame is that the Sound (or bay) is the world's deepest natural freshwater port. (Source Wikipedia)

We stayed at this cottage last week with my husband, our two teenage daughters, and our puppy, and we had an absolutely wonderful time. The kayaks and canoe were a fantastic way to explore the area, and we even managed to catch a few fish off the dock during our stay. One of our favorite surprises was a large, friendly turtle that would swim by for a quick gulp of air. We saw it most mornings and looked forward to its visits. The peaceful mornings were truly special, with the water perfectly calm and still. In the evenings, we spent time stargazing and were amazed by how many shooting stars we saw. The night sky was breathtaking and made for a perfect end to each day.We made some wonderful family memories
