It is a beautifully welcoming Heritage home with all of the ammenities to run like an efficient household during the visit. The outdoor space is exceptional with the wrap around deck and the second floor patio complete with a gazebo offering a beautiful veiw of the Rideau Canal. Definitly a highlight. The Host is tentative and available at all times.

Our host was most accommodating and pleasantly checked in with us throughout the week. Our tour of the stables was custom-tailored for our two toddlers The 200-year-old stone house was beautiful - a bit chilly and draughty for -15oC weather, though

Beautiful relaxing location

It was a beautiful home with character and lovely place for family to be together while attending a wedding. Location on the river, very picturesque.

Jill and her family were great. Come back anytime. The property is very close to a couple beautiful wedding venues so a great place to book when attending a wedding in the area.

Wonderful place

We had a wonderful stay at Jake's. The house was nothing short of beautiful and Jake was always available whenever we need assistance.

Tim booked our Heritage Stone house for his work crew that was completing a job in the area. His employees were respectful of the house rules and did a great job cleaning up after their stay. I’d welcome any future work crews looking for accommodation in the area to stay here.

Perfect for our family vacation

We were looking for a place to stay for a long weekend with family, and this was better than any we found from the listing alone. Upon arrival the building itself was an amazing piece of history, and despite being 200 years old it was the cleanest and best equipped vrbo we've stayed at. Everything you could need for an amazing vacation, from the kitchen to the dock, was here. Thanks to the owner Jake for the stay, we will definitely be coming back.

This property is exceptional! It contained everything you might require and more. We had a good experience with the kayaks and being able to access the dock for fishing. The place was truly enjoyable for the children.

Unfortunately, we never found time to take advantage of all the amenities, but to unwind at the end of our busy days by relaxing under the stars in the quiet on the expansive upper and lower decks was magical. Everything we needed was there.

Owners were great. The owners also own a stable and we had great experience there as well. Great family memories were made. Would go back.

We had a lovely time staying at the property. There was so much character in this beautiful, old home. Each bedroom was spacious and the bathrooms were recently renovated. There was lots of social spaces and we really enjoyed sitting on the deck looking at the stars. The check-in and our processes were easy and we loved that there were so many little touches that made the stat super notable, like coffee, sugar, condiments and laundry soap. We would absolutely stay here again.

Amazing getaway!

We had a group of 11 of us looking for a place to stay close to Ottawa to celebrate a family birthday. Jake was an incredible host and checked in an appropriate number of times to see if we needed anything.The property is gorgeous, and the house itself is just fantastic! Would ABSOLUTELY stay here again!

We are a senior couple who spent 3 nights at Jake’s cottage with 12 other senior friends of ours. We had a wonderful time and all facilities were excellent, as mentioned in the post. It was very easy communicating with Jake who was very patient with our queries and requests.

Fantastic Return Visit

We had another truly wonderful time at your beautiful house this year, and we cherished making more happy memories with our family!The new features were a fantastic surprise – we loved the sauna and the trail down to the river, to the new dock, kayaks, and the opportunity for fishing.Thank you for being such awesome hosts. The host was responsive when we contacted him. All amenities were great. Well stocked (condiments, spices, coffee). Extra linens, kleenex, toilet paper. Very appreciated. It was chilly in the house but to be fair we were there on one of the coldest nights of the year. Below -30C. Would definitely recommend. In fact, one of our group will be booking a family trip there soon.

anniversary visit

location lived up to its billing.Lovely quiet evenings on the deck with a fire overlooking the river.Everything you need is there BBQ, linen etc just great.Location central to Ottawa,Brockville and Smiths Falls.Grandkids loved afternoon visit to Sawyer Critter Farm great spot to spend an afternoon.Hostess was excellent and met all our needs.Great place just to get away!!!

Family BBQ was a hit!

Hosted a family bbq to celebrate an elopement. Played lots of lawn games in the front and backyard. Jake was incredibly helpful and communicative. The property and home is stunning!

Beautiful and family friendly

We really enjoyed our stay! Gorgeous old house with so much original character. Lots for kids to do right out the back door. We also took advantage of the horseback riding offered by the host just down the road - the kids loved it. :) Well supplied with enough of everything (bedding, chairs, hot water, etc) for our group of 9.

We will be coming back

It was a very calm picturesk location where you will find yourself wondering about days gone by, and rest in the breeze. Horseback riding was a highlight for the teens. Local sights and downtown Merrickville are worth it. Thank you Jake and the fam for everything. The Auger's
