Seaside Holiday Apt Outdoor Summer Kitchen

A seaside private holiday apartment in a citrus orchard setting. Enjoy the Kiwiana vibe in a private corner of our unique home. Featuring a large patio for all cooking on BBQ and hobs.

There is a beach at the boundary, only 20 meters away via our rambling path in a native bush setting. 140 steps down to the beach.

The space
Relax in this fully self-contained, three-room apartment featuring a spacious bedroom, a private bathroom, and a comfortable living area. Inside, the living room includes a convenient kitchenette for food prep, along with a sleeping nook that can be screened off if you prefer.

Step out onto the covered patio to enjoy your private outdoor kitchen, fully equipped with a gas BBQ, electric hob, pots, pans, and all necessary cooking utensils. The apartment also features its own dedicated hot water cylinder.

We are harbourside in a semi-rural, subtropical, garden and forest setting.

Guest access
Enjoy the exclusive use of Salt Haven's apartment, including the patio and outdoor kitchen. The orchard at your doorstep and the path to the beach are also at your disposal. However, the upper garden and main house are by invitation only. The onsite parking and driveway link to the apartment with good lighting and level access. Feel free to come and go at any time, but please be mindful of noise levels at night.

We offer free loan Kayaks to our guests. Conditions apply please follow the in-room booking form.

The beach is an unpatrolled public beach. Reef shoes are recommended. The best swimming is within 2 hrs of high tide.

Good shore fishing.

No daily maid service. Linen change and cleaning by negotiation.

A starter pantry including hot drinks, cooking oil, seasoning, and snacks is included with each stay.

This was the perfect base for us. The place was a great size for the four of us, everything we needed. Great location for being close to Whangārei town but also easy access to the heads for exploring, walks and swims. Place was clean and fresh. Nice space to spend sone time. We plan to be back sometime.

Just a greatbplacebthevoutdoor cooking was great. Location brilliantThe beach is a littlle walk andvdegintkey need sandels or reef shoes. Somevcaution is needed as the current is strong so be aware also a lot of rocks. Overall a cool place we will be back

Typical bach, basic but all is there. 1 Bedroom, the other 3 beds are in the living room/kitchen area. Cooking is outside. Beach is only reachable via steep stairs and not visible from terrace. Nice people!

Perfect space for small family

Easy to locate and have a stunning view. Clean and tidy house. Netflix was a bonus as we could enjoy our series. Overall enjoyed our stay ❤️

Lovely location and wonderful hosts!

We had a lovely weekend up north in this seaside bach. Janice and Derek have created a beautiful place to put your feet up, look out at the beautiful view and unwind from your busy lives. The place was easy to find and communication was great leading up to our stay. Even though we experienced wet weather it still felt like an oasis and we’d highly recommend this Bach to anyone visiting northland.

Coastal retreat

Fab location to explore the Whangārei area from. So peaceful but in close proximity to shops if needed. Very comfy beds. Clean andTidy. Appreciated the little touches like milk, tea, coffee, cooking oil, salt & pepper etc.

Quiet and close to the beach

We really enjoyed the accomodation out of the hustle and bustle of town. A well set up self contained unit under main house with a decent amount of space to spread out inside and lovely garden surrounds. The hosts were great. It's only a short walk down to the coast through the forest.

Peace and quiet

Janice was very helpful. Love the place. Kids feel safe and enjoyed the board games at night. Beach was clean and very calm.

Paradise but don’t tell anyone

Ocean Beach is a must. Perfect weekend getaway. The accomodation is 5*. The little touches are just above and beyond. Even a Nespresso coffee machine!We would love to stay again.My only suggestion for cleaning was dust, but the bathroom was spotless.
