Lakefront Cabin on Hyco Lake

Quiet lakefront home. Our lake house is located in a not so busy pass through part of the lake. We have new for 2022, Patio doors with sliding screen, no more carpet upstairs, now new vinyl laminate wood-look. 2021 updates: HVAC Units, new electric stove/oven, new refrigerator and a few other updates.
An outdoor patio, gas grills, small fridge and outdoor brick fireplace and plenty of chairs/tables for those nights grilling out or having a cocktail overlooking the lake. Outdoor string of lights over the patio area. 3bed & 2 bathrooms, One King downstairs, and bathroom and 1 King / 1 Queen upstairs and bathroom and1 rollaway bed for extra sleeping. Can sleep up to 6-7. More then this amount can be discussed.
Kitchen, dining and living area open concept. Dining table seats 6, and 3 counter bar seats.
Fresh sheets, fresh towels, paper towels and toilet tissue provided. There is a washer and dryer to do laundry.
We DO have satelite tv in main living space and one bedroom upstairs. There is NO internet in our area due to being so rural.
Bring your boat or jet ski and park beside long dock. Or Lake Boat Rentals are available from Hyco Lake Boat Rentals. https://hycolake.boatstr.com/
We have one paddle board and one kayak on dock for use and we have standard size, youth and child size life vests for use. Bring your fishing poles or a float to enjoy a day floating.
Sorry NO pets. NO smoking in the cabin. NO house parties. Our Jet skis are NOT for use or rent.

Great property on the lake!

The property was as described and was set up well for enjoying the outdoors and the lake. Loved the paddleboard and barbecue area. No complaints and would revisit. Great communications from owner as well.

Yearly fishing trip to Hyco

Had a wonderful time on the lake. The house was amazing and we enjoyed cooking outside on the patio. House was clean, spacious, and comfortable. We loved docking the boats and coming up for lunch. I would love to stay here again.

Great lake get away

My wife and I were looking for a great place to get away, and this was the place. The property is in a beautiful location, quite, and well maintained. The home was beautiful with views of the lake and nature. We enjoyed relaxing on the porch and dock at the lake. We look forward to returning here on another trip.

Hyco Lake Weekend

Great place for a lake weekend with friends. The host was super helpful and very responsive! The house was clean and the lake view was even more gorgeous in person! A few fun wineries around the area and even a bison farm (Sunset Ridge Buffalo Farm) which was a very different and REALLY fun experience. Highly recommend Tracy and James' place!

Quiet Lake House

Very private and quiet place. Clean. Owner was quick to respond on questions I had at property. Would suggest having lights accessible from the dock for guests. Also would recommend the owners place their personal items in a disclosed locAtion to avoid confusion about who’s items are whose while staying. Also would suggest owner give local places to take trash since trash pickup is not included.

Wonderful Lake Retreat

My wife, myself and our son and a few of his friends celebrated his 17th birthday at this cabin-like retreat nestled in the woods high up on a bluff over looking Hyco Lake. This was the perfect place to get away and entertain without ever leaving the property (except of course in a boat on the water) The view was amazing looking out over the lake. We spent most of our time either on the terrace where we built fires, grilled dinner and sang happy birthday or hangin out on the dock getting in when we weren't touring the lake or skurfing. Tracy was accommodating and very responsive. Can say enough good things about how much we enjoyed out time here. We definitely plan to come back! Fun and Peaceful Lake House with a View

The house is a cute open floor plan with a huge covered porch and amazing outdoor kitchen and fireplace. Furniture is cozy and comfortable. Well laid out floor plan upstairs with full bath and one private deck out the master bedroom. Stocked full of cleaning supplies, toilet paper, paper towels and even sun block and bug spray and tiki torches. No cable or internet didn't matter to us since we had a lot of woods and lake to explore; among being only 15 minutes to the track. It was great to get away from the track at nights and enjoy this private and peaceful property. A few things I may add to the property would be more serving/mixing bowls and screens on the windows/doors. Opening the windows and feeling the southern air thru the house would have been divine. Host was very responsive and very caring about our stay. If we run VIR again we will be sure to come stay again!

Nice place - communication issues

The house is a nice destination if you are looking to unplug and unwind and getaway from day to day activities. Overall, the house is comfortable and has nice amenities - dock, porch, outside patio and fireplace. We rented a boat - which I would highly recommend (as there is not a lot to do in the area other than lake activities). Negatives include a pretty steep 94 step walk from house to dock and other house layout issues (like the refrigerator is sized incorrectly to where you can't stand in front of it to open the door due to the kitchen island layout). My biggest complaint was that the owner took a pretty aggressive verbal stance with me at end of stay due to some inadvertent damage to two frying pans (gas oven) and cleanup concerns. She ended up not returning a significant portion of our damage security deposit. She could have handled the conversation a lot better - I believe that the owners are new to renting with VRBO and need to learn better communication and establish better house guidelines so everyone's expectations can be met. Having their personal supplies (food, drinks, shower supplies, etc.) scattered throughout the house makes it difficult to navigate as guest. Also, I didn't see a lot of evidence that any enhanced COVID cleaning and disinfection of vacation rental was being utilized - https://www.vrbo.com/discoveryhub/tips-and-resources/improve-performance/clean-disinfect-guidelines

Nothing short of heaven.

I could not wait to write this review from the first hour of arriving to the house. It is absolutely breathtaking. We travel a lot, and have a rule never to stay at the same place twice, because there is just so much we want to see and experience, but this is one to break my rule. I am only 10 minutes in the car headed home in the passenger seat, and I am so heavy hearted to be leaving. The views. The views. THE VIEWS. I cannot express this enough or even begin to describe. Our majority of the trip was spent down at the dock catching bass and catfish, swimming, and enjoying margaritas. The water was so refreshing and calm. The kayak and paddleboard (the one you stand on) got a lot of use and I am so greatful the owners supplied them. I took my fishing rod out and caught my first bass off the kayak. The view during sunset of the lake up from the picnic and firepit area reminded me of something from a magazine. I usually had my last drink up there, and where we ate our dinners. I honestly just cannot get over everything, the house was so beautiful and clean, the owners were so fast to answer any questions, and we fell in love with a local Mexican restaurant La Cocina (may be spelling incorrectly) but the spinach dip there was to die for. The house had everything we needed to dine with, and all essentials plus more. We definitely restocked what we used, out of respect. But it was nice to see they had everything already when we forgot something basic on our first day and just wanted to crack open a beer until the following day until another store run. If I could give this house 10 stars, I would give it 11. It is the slice of heaven my family needed and it exceeded expectations by a mile!!!! Wonderful, perfect, beautiful and very private. P.s all boaters we seen passing by down at dock, waved. Everyone seemed so happy and welcoming. All smiles. The house is very private but the people we did see occasionally passing by were so cool.

Better than expected

We had such a great time at the house that we stayed an extra night. It was clean, well stocked with dishes for cooking, had a BEAUTIFUL patio, and access to a kayak and paddle board. This location is very quiet and tucked away. Check in and check out was very easy. We didn't see an internet connection, so a lot of data was used over the weekend and there are 95 stairs from the house to the dock. A good workout if you're up for it! This was our only issue with the house. Everything else was perfect.

Hyco Escape

What a great weekend getaway! We love Hyco Lake and this trip didn't disappoint. One of the best coves for wakeboarding we've found. Tracy was great and very accommodating. House had everything we needed for a great escape, would recommend!

Great Lake House Week

My wife and I and our grade school daughters had a fun week at the house. We rotated through grandparents. Kids and grandparents were fine with the steps to the dock where we swam every day. We rented a boat to explore Hyco Lake but spent the rest of the time enjoying the peaceful property. We ate outside most evenings on the beautiful patio.

Great place would definitely stay again.

Great place would definitely stay again. The only negative is the amount of stairs. It didn’t bother us and the kids made a game out of it. The house was very nice and clean. The owners were very nice and helpful. The outside area and view we’re very nice.

Excellent lake get away

This was a great rental. The covered porch was quite nice during the rainy day or two and the lake views were lovely. There is a neighboring property immediately adjacent to the rental which we didn't anticipate from the listing. This was not a problem, just unexpected.

Great Getaway!

What a great getaway home! Easily accessible to all things Hyco Lake. The house was perfect and the amenities were awesome. We dinner on the patio most evenings. During the day we road the kayak and paddle board. We would recommend this home for anyone that is looking for a great place, great location and opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of life!

Peaceful and quiet

Property was very cozy and offered us a quiet and secluded getaway. Necessary kitchen spices we made avaliable. Only disappointment was the number of stairs that led to the pier/dock. We didn't know about this prior to renting. This could pose a challenge for those who are handicapped or elderly.

We absolutely loved this house! Great location, beautiful lake views and very comfortable. The outdoor patio area with the gorgeous fireplace was perfect for outdoor lunch with family. Tracey was super attentive and gave clear instructions to make our stay very comfortable. Thank you! We’ll definitely be back.

Lovely stay

We rented for a girl’s weekend and had a blast! Great view from the back porch and deck. We got in our daily workouts doing the steps from the house to the boat deck (there were a lot but it got us moving). Enjoyed taking the kayak out on the water and wished I had thought to bring a fishing pole or net as there seemed to be the potential for great fishing. The outdoor fire place and patio were our favorite part. We had a lovely time chatting around the fire at night. Two draw backs 1. the hand soap in the bathroom seemed pretty water down but it was a quick fix and 2. there were a few bugs inside which is expected when a house is in the woods but some ladies in our group were a little scared.

Relaxing get-a-way

Thank you so much! It was the most relaxing vacation I've ever had. The view was beautiful and the huge patio was so nice. One suggestion would be to provide life jackets for the paddle boat. Would have loved to have taken a spin on the lake, but not very easy to bring own life jackets when flying in.

Beautiful Lake Escape

The house, deck, patio, dock were all great. Very comfortable and welcoming. Our only "negatives" were lack of wifi (our hotspots did not work well) and lack of television/cable. Oherwise, perfect!

Hyco is our lake of choice because it is a small, quiet lake. Not so busy that you can not enjoy the lake. Our house has a great patio to enjoy for some real downtime. Just relax and enjoy the view by a fire or while cooking out.
