Dear Vrbo Renter, my house is also a residence when not rented. So don't be alarmed about some food or personal belongings you might find. My policy is, eat anything you want, but please don't take the personal belongings:) Also, our house requires some continual maintenance, and renovations (currently not in my budget.) But it's a good basic dwelling. Let me apologize for any inconvenience. I have been working hard to take care of issues with the house. Just wanted to give a heads up, about your rental.

So, there is currently no wifi andno air conditioning. Also the cell signals are sort of weak. So don't expect a lot of "home office" work! Also, you might encounter some insects in and around the house.

Everything works in the house, the stove, fridge, lights, heat, etc. but at little back-dated. Propane tank for hot water and stove. Near Jacksonport. Just turn (north) on 57, and I'm 1.2 miles up the road. 6678 Hwy 57.

On State Hwy 57, your private sand beach on the lake Michigan, drive across the peninsula to the Bay and indulge in some of the greatest restaurants and shopping and trendy boutiques and bars.

Bring your bikes and your kayaks. Only 1 mile from kayak rentals in Jacksonport. And the notorious Island Fever Rum Bar in Jacksonport.

You will enjoy full use of the house, including but not limited to the private sand-beach, the patio w/Weber gass grill, the kitchen, living room, 2 full bathrooms, 3 private bedrooms, (3 full size beds total), free free antenna tv.

There is no air conditioning, or wifi, 🤬but the house was designed to be wonderful, and air flow from the large Windows! (And the lake effect.). The house was brilliantly designed in the early 90’s semi-renovated, all season residence.

Door County is a great vacation area with lots of outdoor activities in the summer! There are some great restaurants nearby, as well as art galleries, festivals, state and county parks, etc. And look into the seasonal farmers markets.

I am pet friendly, but please alert me if you want to bring your animals. Also, I have had some issues with squirrels and mice!! So your pets might love it more than you!!

Renter be ware

Cheapy and not quite as described,We left after 10 minutes, thankfully the owner refunded us for one night after negotiations.With a few thousand dollars to update and a good (regular) cleaning this could be a wonderful place, it is on the beach. so the location only plus we found.

Quiet, secluded, waterfront

A very Nice stay. Door county can be really noisy in August but this location is nice and quiet. It was delightful to walk out barefoot to the beach. The kitchen was also quite conducive to having meals at the site.

Great place to relax on the Beach!

Great location near lots of fun restaurants. Beach behind the house is SPECTACULAR!! It doesn’t even feel like Wisconsin. Clear water, white sand & so peaceful. Inside the house is very minimalistic, so if you have certain things you like, bring them. I’d suggest bringing your own towels and pillows, along with something padded for the bed if you can. (Ignore if you are able to easily sleep anywhere) We plan to be back!

Unclean

We were surprised how filthy this place was. The sinks had dirt and grime in them and the house was not very clean. If fact, we didn't sleep under the covers because of the lack of cleanliness. We put the towels down we brought from home. My wife actually wanted to move out after the first night!

We didn’t stay the 2nd night.

The entire place smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. The owner staying in the basement with access to the house felt very unsafe for women staying alone. Ants in the kitchen. The entire place was quite dirty. The owners used towel was hanging in the upstairs bathroom. The owner accessed the rental and put a bottle of shampoo by the basement door during our rental term. It was not a good experience and we were so uncomfortable we couldn’t bear to stay the second night and went home instead.

BEWARE

I was going to let the photos speak for themselves, but I don’t see an option to add any. I’ll do my best to accurately describe our stay. Let me start by saying I’m pretty laid back, I’m no Karen. I’ve been able to travel often, so I've stayed in many rentals all over. Some don’t meet expectations, but this was a bad fail. It’s too bad because the home/location could be great had it been taken care of. Communication with the host was decent, not as great as most. There was trash surrounding the house (pizza boxes, cigs, empty cans, an old appliance etc). The front door has words spray painted and crossed out. Smells of cigs. The main bathroom had mold on the walls. Both toilets were layered with brown stains and filthy. Also the sinks/bathtub. Faucets had been spray painted over poorly. Bugs, webs everywhere. Ants in the sink. “Clean” dishes stacked up for us to put away? Every knob/surface was sticky. The cupboards/walls looked/felt as though they’d never been wiped. Found hundreds of ants/larvae in sliding door track. There’s a MACHETE loosely hanging from a screw off a lantern in the hall. The kids could easily reach. Looks as though he lives upstairs or in basement. We didn’t feel safe. Had to scramble to find housing anywhere near the peninsula. No A/C and he charged us for heat we didn’t use. I asked for a return on that and he didn’t reply. We had to stay one night because it was late but left asap the next am. Got a partial refund. The beach and access was wonderful.

Experience was not good

Location of the property is excellent! Right on Lake Michigan sandy beach. That’s where the good review stops. I asked property manager to call me at least one time prior to check in he chose not to. On our way to property we get notified that he has been having a few issues w house and may need to cancel do to hot water heater not working…a few hours later he says ok it’s fixed..we pull up to the house and there is graffiti spray painted on door with owners name on it. Uh ok…inside the house is relatively filthy spider webs all over, dirty couches, etc..just dealt with that. We go upstairs and into our bedroom and the toilet is leaking..ok guess that toilet won’t work. Now the absolute oddest and strangest thing happened on Saturday after our family got back from a day trip….Ready for this? There is a knock on the door, well it’s Smitty the owner. He is holding a baseball bat. He asks me did I know that the cops were there? I said no I did not. He doesn’t explain why the cops came but said it was cleared up, he says he is brought a baseball bat because of the dogs that we brought? I said ok…then he says did you get my message I said no I did not. He shows me that he messaged me a request to check out early and we would be given a partial refund? I didn’t even ask why but I told him no thank you. Honestly, did not want to talk to him as he was making me feel uncomfortable…Very strange situation, very strange owner, definitely would not recommend.

Stay was okay.

There were a couple things that were a little off. Initially, I had some difficulty with communication with the host. So, just anticipate that he may take a little longer to answer questions. I'm a little sensitive to cigarette smoke, and it did smell in various parts of the house. The upstairs toilet needs some repair as the toilet runs all the time. My husband looked at it and said there is a problem with the stopper and the float. Additionally, that toilet started leaking, not a lot but we did have to wipe up water from the floor on 2 occasions during our 2 day stay. The other thing is the downstairs fan in the bathroom is really loud which is an issue when someone is in the shower downstairs and someone is trying to sleep upstairs. Also, several cigarette filters were found in pots and pans and there were dirty dishes in the sink when we got there. The view is great and the short walk to the beach was great. The grill was really good as well.

Perfect location!

As soon as we arrived and I walked out on to the beach, I relaxed. It's a wonderful location with a beautiful view of the lake and a nice stretch of sandy beach. It's quiet and away from the touristy area. The cottage is comfortable and well stocked and the owner is friendly and responsive. It's not fancy but the view definitely is.

Comfortable Beach House

We really enjoyed our stay here. It's nothing fancy, just a comfortable beach house, great layout with beautiful views. Great beach area and sitting deck.
