Luxury Suite on Beautiful Rathbun Lake!

3BR, 2BA with large living room & Kitchen, all one level with laundry facilities. Huge yard to setup games or just enjoy running around. Has a large outdoor fire pit area to enjoy on a relaxing evening. Has a beautiful swimming pool off the back patio for the kids and BBQ area. Its approximately 3/4 of a mile from the closest boat ramp or about 10 minute walk to water access. The lake is visible from the property. It also has a camper spot for those that have larger families and need the extra room! This space includes water and electricity and sewer all for only $50 per night added.

End of summer getaway

A great time was had! Very clean and modern. We really enjoyed the pool. A few things we ran out of: towels, blankets, and pillows. Lake access was a bit further than we expected. Overall - very nice!

Great place for a girls weekend

This property was perfect for our relaxing girl’s weekend. The neighborhood is quiet and the houses are spread out. Highly recommend.

Remote Yet Close

Sometimes your next getaway is right down the road. We had a blast in the pool - the surrounding communities are typical small Iowa towns with enough chains to satisfy everyone's go to fast food in a pinch. Bring a shade structure and enjoy the swimming pool all day long.

Perfect weekend getaway!

The house was just as advertised, very clean, spacious, and comfortable! Perfect mix of bedrooms, common space, and outdoor space to relax as a whole group or chill with some time to yourself. Pool and fire pit out back were a big hit, kitchen had everything you need to make meals, and the property owner gets back to you immediately. Highly recommended this property for anyone going to the Lake Rathbun area!

Nice little hideaway with pool!

This place was amazing. It had everything you needed to make just about anything in the kitchen. Each room had a TV with either a fire stick or Roku, which helps when you bring kids. Plenty of space to run around although we just hung out in the inground pool which was plenty big and deep enough for the kids to jump in. They do keep it pretty cool in the house to help the AC which was perfect for us but if you get cold, bring extra blankets. Only thing I would say it needed is a couple of lounge chairs by the pool to layout otherwise my family and I had a blast hanging out for a few days just to get away after baseball/softball season ended.

Great location

We had our annual girl's trip here in june 2024. The house is beautiful. The pool was great and the reason we booked this location. The liner in the pool was wrinkly and a little green in the corners, but nothing we couldn't live with. There was, however, bugs in the pool. I get that its outside and that will happen. We could not find a pool skimmer to remove them though. I highly recommend they get a skimmer to leave on location. It rained while we were there and afterwards there was even a dead frog in the pool. We had to keep scooping these things out with our hands. One day there was some flying bug that kept stinging or biting us as we tried to remove them. A skimmer would have been so much easier. Then I recommend having some sort of easy to slip on shoe to wear to the bathroom. One of my friends slipped on the floor trying to get to the bathroom after being in the pool and getting wet. She was fine, but we were extra careful after that. I also suggest bringing extra toilet paper with you. For a house that sleeps 10 and we booked for 6, we only had 2 full rolls and 2 partial, mostly full rolls of toilet paper for 3 nights. Overall it was a fun weekend. We would definitely come back if there was a pool skimmer and we would know to bring extra toilet paper.

LOVE THE PRIVATE POOL!!!

This was a great house for the holiday weekend. We saw fireworks on Sat. night just above the tree line from the back patio by the private pool. Beds were comfortable, the sleeper couch we could feel the bars of the framing but the big couch made up for it. This is a single floor home so no stairs and all the doorways are wide. We had 3 kids 3years and under and plenty of room for them in house to play, the awesome pool has great steps for the littles to play until more comfortable moving to the shallow area, it drops to a deep end about 1/2 way, something to be aware about for those who can't swim or not a strong swimmer. The pool was perfect size for us. 7 adults & 3 littles we were all in together several times and never felt crowded. The pool is not heated, some might find it too cool but we enjoyed it and after a couple hot days, the water was warm even at 9am. There is no view of the lake from the house, there is some gravel road to get to it, just makes it all the better as less through traffic, plenty of open mowed space for kids to play and games, there is a walking trail to a pond and some wild berries that were good to eat. The kitchen is well stocked, was missing some items mentioned in other reviews, just check with the host for questions. All of us enjoyed our time at this property.

Thanksgiving in Iowa

It was perfect for our needs. It is a great house for a large family group. It would be awesome for a summer visit. The pool and fire pit would be perfect in warm weather. It does need some extra blankets and bedding for cold weather.

Wish we could have stayed longer!

We were looking for a quick get away with family. My only wish is that we came earlier so we could have used the pool. The house was clean, and the beds were comfy. I would definitely recommend this home if you want a nice pool, fire pit, and close to Lake Rathbun.

girl friends get away

very clean. doug was the best at helping us with all our needs. lots of room for eight of us and did not seem crowded at all. my group of high school girlfriends (class of 1973) have been renting places for our little reunion for over ten years. doug's properties are number one on our list!

Perfect Weekend Getaway

Rented the house for our parents 40th anniversary. House, pool and property was clean. My siblings rented the owners other property next door. The only thing in would do differently is being my own pillow and some hooks to hang wet swimsuits.

Girls trip

House is big and lots of room to stretch out. Kitchen has some dishes, etc for renters use. Pool is great as is the whole out door area. Patio set is available to use and a nice fire pit. Only thing I would suggest is bringing your own pillows. Most of the pillows are very flat and pretty useless. Do plan on rebooking next year!!

Great, family friendly property

This house was exactly what we were looking for when our family planned a trip to Rathbun. The pool meant see people could stay back from fishing or boating and not have to be stuck inside. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils for cooking. The washer and dryer were great so we could get that done before we headed home. Highly recommend.

Swimming getaway

2nd time staying here always nice to have the pool steps away from the door. Already booked it for another family trip next year. Can’t wait!

You are welcome to walk the rock circle around the subdivision, but please stay off other people’s properties.
