Second stay was as great as the first!

We love staying here. Plan on rebooking ASAP! The whole family really enjoys the house and the farm and it is close to everything we want to do.

Beautiful Home

We had a wonderful stay! My brother got married at Watterson Hall and it was the best place for the bridesmaids to get ready and stay! I would love to go back just to stay and unwind!

Beautiful historic home

Absolutely beautiful historic home and very comfortable! The owners answered the few questions we had very quickly. The property is amazing and there was so much to explore. I can only say positive things about our experience. We could not have been happier and I can’t wait to go back!

We wondered where we were for a moment but after following the long driveway back, it opened up to a beautiful, spacious property. The old farmhouse was nostalgic and it was a perfect setting for some peace and quiet.

Beautiful, Quaint, Great Hosts

The Hosts are wonderful and encourage you to enjoy the land around the house. Great communication from the Honeycutts. They are sweet people. The house is an old farm house (obviously) and is just great.

Fabulous Family Getaway!

This property is breathtakingly beautiful! We enjoyed our coffee on the front porch and watched the sunset over the pond! It was so relaxing! The home is very spacious and clean. I loved the historical touches--pictures & artifacts-- were visible throughout the home! It made our stay even more special!

Making Memories

We drove from Southern California in our RV to visit our kids and grandkid. All camping spots were booked so took a chance on this property and we hit the jackpot! Had the kids over and they had room to run and play. Amazing location! House is cozy and comfortable. Owners are quick to respond and very generous. We will be back.

Weekend Getaway

The farmhouse is super cute, everything you imagine an old farmhouse to be. The bed is very comfortable and the sheets are the softest sheets you can imagine. The AC works great, we stayed cool the entire time. The kitchen is big and completely supplied. Would definitely stay again if in the area. Owners are super easy to communicate with and very responsive. There are plenty of towels and extra blankets/sheets if needed.

Nice Old House

Comfy stay...although a few things where not right...food left in oven and water had a bad odor to it while running it! The house itself was fantastic. More for a group setting/wedding venue! I felt a little out of place...def for big parties!

Country Get Away

Absolutely fabulous! Rural but easy15 min drive to Germania Amphitheater for concert, 40 min drive to great Texas Farmers Market at Mueller, and hour drive to Gruene for music, German food and antiques. The Lazy W Ranch was a destination in itself! We spent the whole first day exploring the property even tho it was 100 degrees outside. AC was cold, beds were comfortable and jetted tub was relaxing. The Honeycutts were prompt communicators and gracious hosts. We spent a lot of time sitting on the back porch and feel privileged to have been able to stay in a beautiful piece of history. Thank y’all so much for sharing it with us! We would definitely choose The Lazy W again!

Loved it!

We had a great time at the Lazy W! The house is super cute. The property is rugged but all the wildness (critters, etc.) stayed outside and I never saw so much as a single bug indoors. There were wildflowers everywhere and we loved exploring the property where we found various animal tracks, dragonflies, caterpillars, and blackberries! We came on this trip for a specific purpose and just needed a nice place to stay, but we ended up wishing that we could just hang out at the house! I would love to come back here again. Also, the hosts were just right ;). I believe their personal home is on the property but it's far from this house and we had total privacy, I never needed to tell the kids to "keep it down" We never saw the owners, but when we had a problem getting the gate to open, they picked up the phone and got it to open immediately, I think that if anything else had come up (it didn't) they would have been easy to reach. I would absolutely stay here again.

Restful and relaxing

A great escape from the rush and racket of city life, this oasis of calm and quiet is a welcoming retreat. From enjoying the beautiful surroundings, gorgeous old oaks, wildflowers, and local wildlife all seen while sitting in rocking chairs on the wide shaded porch, to the super comfortable beds and cranking A/C inside, to the jetted tub in the master bath, it is all about comfort and just enjoying the moment, and letting that peaceful easy feeling last, even all day if desired. But there is a lot to see and do within easy reach, from exploring the grounds to making the short drive to Austin (should you start to miss the big city). Even in Bastrop there are many restaurants if you don’t want to drive all the way to Austin. Plus there’s hiking, fishing, a game room, and an firepit for cooking outdoors with all the convenience of a kitchen nearby. And Rick and Scarlet are perfect and generous hosts, nearby if you should need something, but unobtrusive so you feel all the wonderful privacy of the beautiful country setting. Whether you’re looking for peace and quiet, lots of outdoor activities, or quick access to city nightlife, this ranch house is the perfect location.

Homey experience.

Gorgeous scenic outdoor experience. Only thing we were disappointed for was the cleanliness. Spiderwebs in some places, fridge was dusty and dirty. Other than that, we enjoyed our little getaway at the home.

Peaceful

The setting is wonderful. Great place to bring the dogs. The house is as described. Everything important - sheets, towels, tubs, sinks, toilets, appliances, dinnerware, and surfaces - is clean. Bed is comfortable. Only suggestion is to bring your own frying pan if you will be cooking for 2 or more. The two large pans on site are former non-stick pans with the coating peeling off.

Loved the Experience

Perfect spacious and comfortable home for our family of 4. Spent the evenings on the back porch taking in the serene views. Basket of goodies on the table was a nice treat! Great place to relax and unwind.

Wonderful little farm house

Peaceful Historic Retreat

We had a wonderful few days rocking on the porch swing on the wrap around porch looking out on the beautiful property. The kids loved roaming around and seeing the natural wildlife. Great location for a peaceful getaway!
