Nauti aamukahvi katsella luontoa joella. Kuuntele veden virtausta ja tuulta puissa. Massanutten vuorijono on etäisyys, suunnitella vaellukselle. Joki on jalat, mene melomaan. Riippumatto on koukussa puiden välissä, hengailla ja lukea kirjaa.

Revisiting for Relaxation

We stayed here last year and really enjoyed it, so we decided to come back. We love sitting on the deck and just listening to the birds and water. I think our dog also enjoyed being lazy and sleeping in his bed on the deck. Much needed break from normal every day life. Hope things will be drier and warmer next time so we can enjoy the water.

Wonderful Cottage right on the river!

Exceeded expectations! The cottage was so nice. You could throw a rock from the deck and it would land in the river. Serene and relaxing. Anne was a great host. We will be back for sure.

Bookcation 2024

We had a wonderful stay again! The house was clean, comfortable, and peaceful. We watched the water and the birds while cozied up on the porch with tea and books. A lovely little vacation!

Birthday Fishing Celebration

The River House was the perfect choice for our birthday trip. Although the river was high and grounds a bit soggy from recent rains the weather was gorgeous for our hiking and fishing. We truly appreciated all the local info provided by the host, Very clean, well maintained, comfy beds.5

Peaceful Stay

We were in the area to visit the National Park, and this was a great spot to return to and unwind after spending the day hiking. We loved the quiet spot along the river, the fire pit, the kayaks. A great family vacation spot!

Amazing place

This cabin has everything we needed, is clean, peaceful, near the river, and communication with the owner was fast and accurate. We definitely come back on fall. I extremely recommend this to anyone needs a relax!

Amazing stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property was clean and well stocked. All of the amenities listed were available. The location is amazing! The river and property were awesome. Every meal we were able to eat on the screened in porch and enjoy our time outside.

Great time

The house was perfect for our family. Plenty of room and clean. It was great waking up to the views of the river and mountains. Just a short drive to Luray caverns. The host was very responsive and helpful. Would stay again.

Home away from home

This was our 2nd stay at the River House, our now Anniversary favorite. Awesome place to get away and unwind. Always clean and has everything you need. All you need to bring is food.

I've stayed at about 15 riverfront places near Luray. This one was the best. No issues whatsoever and best brush free river frontage for fishing.

An amazing house on the river

This was the perfect place to spend a long weekend. The host was great, and answered all our questions quickly. The house was clean and well stocked. The house is on a great stretch of the Shenandoah river. We will definitely be back.

River house

We had a wonderful stay! View of the river is breathtaking. We were outside playing games or enjoying the fire pit the entire time. We will be back! We loved the deck and the screened in porch.

Peaceful Retreat

Anne’s house was the perfect getaway for my family. We lived on the screened in porch and just loved sitting out there and watching the river go by. The kayaks and tubes gave us some fun water activities. The kitchen had all the supplies we needed and there was an expansive living room for our toddler to play in safely. I highly recommend and we’d like to return soon!

We're coming back!

We had a wonderful stay at the river house! We were between many similar properties and we chose this one based on all the great reviews and they did not lead us astray. It's a wonderfully spacious place, well stocked and just really tranquil. The owners also went above and beyond when there was a brief power outage, beyond having all the necessities available at the house in case of an outage they also gave us a refund, which was not necessary but very nice.

Beautiful and Relaxing!

My husband and I stayed here in May of 2024 to celebrate our anniversary, and this location did not disappoint. The house sits near one end of the road, so we didn't experience any traffic during our visit. We were able to relax in the peace and quiet while enjoying the beautiful views of the river. All the basic amenities were provided so we only needed to bring our food/spices, drinks, and personal belongings. We brought our own games with us, but there were plenty available to choose from. Our dog loved stretching his legs and chasing his ball in the big yard. There's also a shelf with books to read that visitors can trade their own books for (such a cool idea). The owner was very responsive and easy to reach. This is definitely a place we would like to revisit.

Relaxing at the River House

The River House was everything we hoped for and so much more. Imagine waking to the sounds of birds and water flowing in the river right outside your door. Bring your food and enjoy communing with nature. The hot tub was great after a day tubing or hiking. The fire pit prompted stories and subsequent laughter. And the best part was watching our grandsons play and explore and not even miss their electronic devices! On the drive home, the boys said, "can we come back again next year?". Absolutely!

Secluded retreat!

This home has a fantastic location. Very secluded from others with excellent river views/access and lots of yard space to play. We enjoyed all the outdoor amenities: fire pit, games, Kayaks, etc. We loved fishing from the concrete access which had wonderful shade - could’ve sat there all day. The house was well stocked with lots of things you might need (even some toiletries,detergent, soap, etc that you don’t often find at rental houses). Communication with the owner was great. You should be aware that it is a good 25-30 mins to town for any groceries etc and that the last stretch to the property is gravel road. This is not a problem if you plan ahead. My only critique is the carpets could use a thorough cleaning or update. However this was by no means a detriment to our stay. We would gladly return.

A Lovely Stay, with Caveats

My family has been vacationing in Luray since I was a child; we LOVE the area! We had a nice stay (loved the space, all of the board games, a beautiful view), but did have some issues. 1. The pictures in the listing showed a hammock. It sounds like such a silly thing, but we always stay in a rental with a hammock because it's my husband's favorite thing! We found out once we got to the rental that the hammock was damaged last year and never replaced, but the listing pictures were not updated. We should have asked in advance. 2. Temperature. Upon arrival, we learned that the house must be set at 71 degrees or warmer in the summer. Not a big deal, but it was set at 66 degrees when we arrived - make sure you check the thermostat upon arrival so that you don't get charged for an HVAC callout if the unit freezes! Also, while the living room was very comfortable, the bedrooms got considerably warmer during the night - you may want to leave the doors open. 3. Cleanliness/Safety: We noticed small cleanliness issues during our stay - cobwebs near the game table, an old contact lens on the living room floor, etc. We're not super picky about cleanliness, so this wasn't a bother. But, when we were packing up on our final day, we found a prescription pill under the bed my daughter slept in. My daughter is old enough that it wouldn't have been a dangerous situation for us, but I hate to think of what could have happened if a small child had found it! An unfortunate end to our stay.

We bought this property so we could spend time here and share it too! Our kids are growing up fast and we realized the need to show them more than the suburban environment they live in. Luray has so much to offer: Luray Caverns, hiking, tubing, kayak/canoeing, mountain biking, campfires, Skyline Drive, not to mention all the stars! It's truly a great way to reconnect with your family and yourself.

There is not one home on the rental market in Luray that has better river views than we do. Our house is 30 feet from the riverbank. Step out the door and you are there.
