Welcome to our newly remodeled 1-bedroom abode! A quick 20-minute drive from the hustle and bustle of downtown Flagstaff, enjoy complete serenity, cozied within the pines. Our house is located on 3 acres right at the base of the Snowbowl ski resort, making it the ideal location for winter ski trips. Just a little over an hour from the Grand Canyon (only 3 stop signs!), adventure awaits year-round. Enjoy the wildlife (elk, many birds, etc), incredible stargazing, trails, and more.
Located off the beaten path, this historic house was home to Lou Bader, a local figure of whom the neighborhood was named after, until his passing in 2008. At 1100 square feet, this 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom wing of a larger home includes a living and dining room combo, kitchen, oversized bedroom, bathroom, and private backyard with a picnic table. We also run another rental, and the two are connected by a door that remains locked at all times (it is keyed on both sides). We live in the main section of the house. While the apartment is on ground level, note that there are 3 steps inside the space.
ENTRANCE: We provide our guests with one covered parking spot in our carport. Additional vehicles may park in our large driveway, and we can accommodate RVs, Uhauls, and other large vehicles. The entrance has a keypad for an easy self-check-in process! Once through, you will find an entry bench, a closet with hangers, and a rack to hang skis and snowboards if you are visiting our local ski resort.
LIVING AND DINING ROOM: The living area contains a large sectional sofa and a dining table, both accommodating 6 people comfortably. A 50” TV sits over the fireplace with access to Netflix, HBO, Hulu, Sling, and Amazon Prime. The living room also contains a thermostat to run the gas heater that powers only your unit so that you can control the temperature for maximum comfort.
KITCHEN: Just off the living room is your full kitchen (no dishwasher). It contains a reverse-osmosis, alkaline water drinking system. We have a flock of chickens in the backyard, so depending on availability, we will provide complimentary eggs. The kitchen is equipped with all your typical cooking accessories and dishware. A coffee bar contains a coffee maker, French press, coffee bean grinder, electric kettle, tea infusers, milk frother, and mixing spoons. Coffee beans, chai tea, cream, and sugar are also provided.
BEDROOM: Just through the kitchen, you will find an oversized bedroom. The bedroom contains a queen bed (sleeping 2), plus two twin-over-twin bunk beds (sleeping 2 each). All beds have memory foams mattresses and personal night lights. Additionally, you’ll find a desk, full-size mirror, and a rod with hangers. Blackout curtains are hung over every window.
BATHROOM: The spacious bathroom contains double sinks and a tub/shower combo. Additionally, it includes a washer and dryer that you are welcome to use. Laundry detergent, toiletries, towels, and hairdryer are provided.
BACKYARD: You may enter into your private yard either through the living room or bedroom. The beautifully landscaped yard contains a picnic table and string lights, making a perfect gathering spot for morning coffee or nighttime stargazing. It also contains a gas grill for you to cook up anything you’d like. Just beyond the backyard, feel free to look at our flock of chickens! While we don’t allow guests inside their fenced run for safety (we have a mean rooster who attacks any human in sight), you can walk right up to the fence and watch them.
OTHER BENEFITS: The space contains a few games. A mesh Wi-Fi system provides strong connectivity throughout the house. We do our best to accommodate anything you may need, so just ask!
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:
NOISE: We do our best to keep noise to a minimum, and provide earplugs to help you sleep in! Note that we have 2 small dogs who enjoy barking. Our rooster usually starts crowing at sunrise, which is 5am in the summer. Additionally, we run a second rental on the property and the two units share a wall.
AC: Like most of Flagstaff, there is no air conditioning, but the house stays cool year-round. Both doors leading into the backyard contain screen doors so we recommend using those at night during the warmer months. We also leave a tower fan for guests.
LOCATION: The last half mile to our property is a maintained dirt road. Additionally, we get quite a bit of snow in the winter. The county paves the roads, but there may be up to a 12-hour delay between snowfall and paving. We highly recommend four-wheel drive in winter and any car that can handle dirt roads in summer. Keep in mind that we are a 20-minute drive from downtown Flag, and a vehicle is pretty much required unless you plan to use Uber or Lyft.
ACCESSIBILITY: Lastly, the space is not wheelchair accessible as there are a few steps inside the unit.
