Great location, but everything else was a letdown
We stayed for two nights and while the location was undeniably convenient—right downtown with a view of the CN Tower from our room—the rest of the experience left a lot to be desired.
Entry into the building was easy, and the room had a cute, compact layout that suited our basic needs. There were plenty of outlets for electronics, which was a nice touch.
Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end.
Only one of the three elevators serving our floor was working, which meant long waits and overcrowded rides—people packed in like sardines. But the worst part was the fire alarms. The first night, it went off around 4 a.m. with a voice over the intercom instructing us to stay put until the fire department arrived. That was unsettling, but manageable. Then it happened again an hour later. The second night was even worse—three separate fire alarm incidents, this time with no explanation, just loud, endless dinging. Whether it was pranksters or a system issue, it made sleeping nearly impossible.
The condition of the unit was also disappointing. It felt more like a cheap motel than a downtown rental. Everything was dated and poorly maintained. No hooks in the bathroom meant wet towels had to hang from doorknobs. Pillows were thin and worn, sheets were pulled, and while the kitchen area looked clean, the floors were so dirty I had to wear socks inside. The window shades didn’t fully block out the exterior lights.
