Unwind in unmatched luxury set in a bucolic Hudson Valley setting! 20 minutes to and from some of Hudson Valley’s most cherished destinations, a classic aluminum camper envelope contrasts a sleek, modern interior. This avant-garde Spartan’s modern styling re-imagined a vintage home from the inside out. Hauling back to a brilliant modern-day life from a state of utter disrepair, this gem is cradled by equal measure lush and serene nature on nearly 100 acres.
A picturesque floor-to-ceiling window invites the hours to melt away as it frames the majestic nature that unfolds before it. The 500-square foot backdrop beautifully swaddles custom-milled, select grade hardwood flooring, walls and ceilings. Speaking of ceilings, the camper’s do not require ducking. They are flat and tall (unlike its oft-confused counterpart—the Airstream’s) and dotted with recessed Lutron RadioRA lights for a perfect whole-home, dimmable illumination.
The kitchen's pristine and effortless look is sure to make even a New York City chef feel like home. Perlick commercial grade stainless fridge and cooling drawers, Gaggenau stove, reclaimed solid wood waterfall countertops, deep classically-sized kitchen stainless sink serviced by a Brizo magnetic docking pull-down spray faucet, virtually every select detail is this modern kitchen’s calling card.
With their surfaces uninterrupted by pulls, every cabinet door, drawer, and closet in the home retracts on soft-close mechanisms. Sliding solid-wood doors afford visual and acoustic privacy in the spaces that matter most… the bedroom, and the bathroom.
The tranquil bathroom is similarly reminiscent of modern-day luxury suites. London-based manufacturer Water Monopoly shower fittings, Toto wall-mounted high efficiency toilet with in-wall tank system, Robern recessed double-door medicine cabinet, custom vanity, Ann Sacks marble tile atop a marble slab on radiant-heated floor offer the opulence in luscious practicality.
Add to the mix a Haier washer/dryer, 3 floor-to-ceiling closets for all your storage needs, a Mitsubishi heat and A/C split system, Lutron RadioRA lighting system, modern, and classic mid-century top grain leather, wood and marble furnishings, refined décor, outdoor dining and lounging options… and this bespoke, fully equipped 1960 Sparcraft Spartan trailer has all the makings of a comfortable, practical and luxurious home away from home for a traveler of discerning taste.
What Is a Spartan Trailer Camper?
To learn more about the history of this custom vintage camper, let’s find out more about its background.
Owned by one of the richest men in America at the time—oil tycoon J. Paul Getty—the Spartan Aircraft Company switched from war-time airplane production (after a stellar performance during WWII) to fabricating exceptional, luxury trailers. For a very short span of just 17 years, Getty's designers and engineers applied the techniques they had mastered in the aircraft building industry and created brilliant aluminum trailers that are still in high demand today.
Often confused with its rounded roof counterpart—the Airstream—a Spartan camper is typically larger... and no ducking needed! The ceilings inside these aluminum masterpieces of the yesteryear are uniform, high and flat, making them more desirable among the growing community of restorers and collectors... and incomparably more comfortable for today's travelers.
Seasonal, heated salt-water swimming pool. Open from mid-May through mid-October. The pool is gradually steeped toward a deeper end. It offers plentiful areas to lounge and let the day melt away. Sorry, pets are not welcome in the pool, but pooches can have their fun in the sun swimming in the gorgeous natural pond.
