This was our second stay at Coastguard Cottage, and it excelled on all fronts once again. This time, our family of four brought some elderly relatives with us, and they found the cottage met their every need, too. The layout is ideal for groups such as this, with bedrooms being grouped in different sections of the bungalow, and with there being ample bathroom availability. Access is easy, and the location simply cannot be beat - nestled right in the dunes of Bamburgh Beach, next to the iconic Bamburgh Castle. This property is beautifully appointed and maintained, with seemingly every requirement anticipated.
We were very lucky with the weather, staying for the last week of October, which meant we could make the most of the week with daily adventures. In addition to relaxing on Bamburgh Beach itself, we visited Barter Books in Alnwick, Alnwick Gardens, The Treehouse Restaurant at Alnwick Gardens, and even Edinburgh Zoo. We highly recommend taking an afternoon to walk along the coastal path from Bamburgh to the breathtaking Budle Bay, and note that you should keep an eye out for fascinating and entirely complete WWII coastal defence structures, which are dotted long the route. Star-gazing on the dune that towers over the back garden is also not to be missed, with this mound being topped with bench boasting a plaque that declares it is in the Top 10 of lunch spots in the U.K, as voted by Kingsmill customers!
As always, our customer experience with Stay Northumbria was second-to-none, with fantastic, clear communication of information, and warm, friendly exchanges with office staff. This, combined with the high calibre of properties they offer, is why we come back time and again!
