Valentina was very kind, easy and quick to communicate with by email/WhatsApp (with the help of translation! Since we speak English and she Italian), and even picked us up from the train station on our day of arrival! Walking down to the train station takes roughly 10 minutes, which we took advantage of to explore the nearby areas along the coast. Chiavari is busy in the town, so it was nice to be able to retreat to Valentina's apartment where it was a bit more peaceful. The apartment is not far from town at all, but do be aware that it is an easy downhill to get into town but obviously then roughly five minutes of uphill to get back. Being a bit above town, the area by the apartment affords a great view over the town and to the sea. The pictures of the views in the listing are a bit better than what you actually get from the apartment and are likely taken from outside the building, though the views are still very pretty from the windows (though less direct) and in front of the building. This was our fault as an oversight, but the rental did not include WiFi, if that is of importance to you. This could have been more directly stated in the listing details. Some other minor notes: 1) the kitchen is generally well stocked, but there is not a chef's knife, only butter knives; 2) the apartment includes a washer but not laundry detergent; 3) the listing indicated that there would be a hair dryer, but we did not see one; 4) the kitchen sink water did not seem to ever get hot. We likely could have contacted Valentina for these, but they were not big enough deals for us to bother. More important than the kitchen sink, the shower had good pressure and heat! Overall, we did enjoy our stay in this beautiful area and would recommend the apartment to anyone that prefers being slightly away from the hustle-bustle and does not mind not having WiFi.
