The checkin process was difficult as the door codes were not working upon arrival and the communication was poor.
When we arrived the elevator on one side was broke and the HVAC unit as well. Unfortunately 2 of our bedrooms had no a/c the first night as there were noisy birds in the ducts. They did not offer to comp any of our stay despite the heat and took over 24 hours post check-in to fix the unit. We were grateful it was fixed, but very uncomfortable the first night.
One of the hot tubs also was not working with no electricity and other minor things around the house were broken including toilet paper holders in the bathrooms and the outside spigot (it would not function) to rinse off sand from the beach.
The smoke alarm was too sensitive in the kitchen for us to cook or toast our bread each morning, so we had to operate the oven with all the windows open.
Overall, the house was a little tired and worn out for the quality and price it was listed at. It felt like death by a thousand cuts from things not working, breaking, or just generally letting us down. I'm sure there's a lot I forgot purposefully given the whole experience.
Once we dropped our expectations of the rental company and the house to zero, the vacation ended up okay. I would say we will not be back, but hope the rental company invests in some improvements and maintenance to the property for future guests to avoid the heartache of a vacation fully of challenges.
