Very dirty house - but good location

We enjoyed the location of this home, but have to say that I have never stayed in a dirtier vacation house in my entire life. The floors were sticky and if you walked around in your bare feet your feet would turn black from the dirt and grime. So needless to say we wore our shoes the whole time. The carpet was equally disgusting and looked like it had been vaccumed in a looooong time. Additionally, there was garbage scattered around the house from the previous visitors. We will not be staying in this property again.

Birthday Stay

We often stay in Sunriver over our daughter’s birthday with some of her friends. Sunriver is a perfect place for them to jump on their bikes and head out on their own. The house was very comfortable for the six of us plus the dog. We only had to rent one bike since two were provided with the rental. We enjoyed the location and the hot tub.

Clean

I have issues with dirty hotels and vacation rentals. I always come ready with lysol wipes. I inspected the house immediately upon entry. I found the house to be very clean. I read a terribly mean review about dog hair and I feared dog hair being everywhere. It is a pet friendly home. I found literally 1 dog hair. The towels were very soft and of very good quality. The house is a bit older, but it had obviously been well maintained. The only complaints I had for this home were quite minor: 1. The kitchen needs a new pitcher, new ice cream scoop, more cereal spoons and a vegetable knife. 2. Some outlets must be internally loose because not all outlets would consistently maintain electrical currents. That is it, I was overall quite pleased.

Nice quiet home

Went to get away for a few days and we really enjoyed, close to the Sunriver Village and Bend. The deck and hot tub were very nice. Would book again!

Nice house overall.

I'm probably judging this house too harshly but we have been going to the same house for close to 7 years but it recently sold and we are having to find a "new to us" Sunriver vacation home. 8 Tamarack was a decent house overall but I was left wanting more. It was not as clean as I would have hoped for, or what I expect. There was A LOT of pet hair on the furniture. We had a lot of allergies happen in the 4 days we stayed here...even though we are dog owners, so it wasn't super clean. It was a looooong bike ride (15-20 minutes) to the village but we managed. It is a short bike ride (5-7 minutes) to the north store and the tennis courts by the north store, so that was a bonus. I appreciated the big dog crate and we used it for our dog the whole time we were there; especially on those long bike rides. I liked the quiet neighborhood but it was just too far away from the village for our liking. The beds were comfortable but I did see a lot of pet hair, which was a bummer. If you are not a clean freak, and if you are not bothered by pet hair on furniture or your bedding...if you are not bothered by a very long trek (up and down many hills) to get to the village, and you are not bothered by a "meh" interior then this may be the house for you. It is pretty dated inside but overall OK. This house is lacking the "IT" factor or any "WOW" details besides the gas fireplace and some cool beams and vaulted ceilings. All the couch pillows need updating. The towels were rough as sand paper. It was not advertised that there were beach towels in the cabinet over the dryer for the pool/hot tub so I did laundry and no one wants to do THAT on vacation. There was not one brochure/menu of the restaurants in the village which I was missing from having that in our previous house. We plan to keep looking. It was close but not "The ONE" yet. We still had fun!

Basic house that met the needs

This house met our family of 5 + 2 dogs' needs. Given we spent our time skiing, we didn't need to be at the house very much. A few things to note: The beds were not super comfortable, and the loft gets quite warm when the main floor was comfortable. And the main floor shower did not drain well.

Cozy retreat

We really enjoyed our stay here. Everything was clean and cozy! The location was great, too. The trails were easily accessible and it was a nice walk to Fort Rock park and the Deschutes River. We would definitely stay here again.

Great property would stay again.

Overall great property, superb location. Always love visiting Sunriver and this stay was also memorable. Very well equipped and clean place. The hot tub was excellent! Love the location as it gave us the privacy we wanted. The only notable area for improvement should be internet. Speeds were very slow and we are not able to watch shows on our connected devices. Netflix show would buffer every few minutes. Thankfully we did not have to rely on the connection to do any work so this was minor issue. However, this should be considered by anyone who is eyeing this property and does need reliable connection.

Enjoyable

This was a very nice place to retreat with our pups. It was darker than it appeared in the photo and it he lighting once there was hard to find. Kitchen was very dark si hard to cook which we live to do.

The mattress in the master bedroom needs to be replaced, some of the outlets the house were loose from years of use, the overall layout allows (or funnels) living room noise into the master bedroom, and there are no bikes provided like all the other houses I have rented in Sunriver in the past.

House was fairly clean but had quite a layer of dust build up on blinds especially upstairs bath. Upstairs bath both the sink and the shower had slow drains. When you were done showering you were standing in water. The towels although absorbant were not very soft.Very stiff. Kitchen utensils looked to be quite old and not of high quality. Hot tub was not very clean. After sitting in the hot tub for awhile , when you got out you had a greasy, oily ring on your body where the water line was. Liked the location and all but just looked to be a little ran down and outdated.

Loved the kitchen sink. The deck was big and had plenty of seating. Floors and countertops in the kitchen and bath are dated but everything was very clean. We enjoyed our stay.

Lovely getaway at this house with a great deck.

Reviewer Comments: We have rented this home three times, mainly because it's near a house owned by friends who are sometimes able to coordinate vacations with us. We like this house because it's pet-friendly too, with no dog or cat odors or evidence! The train runs by relatively close---maybe a quarter mile away, so we are often awakened in the middle of the night with train track sounds, but it's kind of soothing too. Sometimes we are awakened by owls or the sounds of deer bugling or wolves howling, depending on the season. Who doesn't love that? We find it wonderful. The furniture is comfortable, the deck is awesome, and the kitchen is well-stocked with pots and pans and equipment for anyone who enjoys cooking. We love the location of this place since we bike ride two or three times per day and we like being a distance away from the Shark pool and the main shopping area. We can get there quickly by bike and also enjoy the tranquility of being "in the woods." My only complaint is that the house wasn't super clean. Some splashes of coffee or chocolate by the upstairs bedroom's wall by the stairs, dust bunnies under living room couches, plastic placemats not all washed after the last use, deck furniture not on the deck in April, so we hauled it out of the garage. Warning: upstairs "master" doesn't have a door! It's open to the stairs, and there's a wall of shutters on one wall, so there's not much privacy for whomever gets the master! The bed in the master is very comfortable, though, and the ceiling fan is great for comfort on a warm night. (Of course, the temp. goes down a lot in Central Oregon at night, so it's always very cool by the morning.)

Great Get Away

All the windows in the main living area were terrific. This home could definitely use some updating since it looks like it's stuck in the 1980s and maybe put in some cadet heaters in 2 bedrooms downstairs as they were super cold and running the furnace was somewhat noisy and didn't really heat those rooms very well. We felt the home was super clean upon our arrival. It was great they had 2 snow shovels as we ended up using them during our stay.

Good dog friendly property

If you are sensitive to fragrance bring your own laundry & dish soap. Modest cabin but a worked well for our 4 young children & golden retriever. The carpets could be cleaned. The beds were quite comfortable. The bunk beds & hot tub were a hit with my family. The large dining table is great for games.
