Movie Colony East is one of the oldest and most sought after neighborhoods in Palm Springs; a rare location where you will experience unobstructed views. This vintage, star studded neighborhood was home to Cary Grant, Frank Sinatra, and Marilyn Monroe.
It features two parks: (1) Ruth Hardy Park has tennis courts, basketball courts, 2 volleyball courts, 2 play areas for children, plus ample picnic tables and parking. It’s also a very popular park to bring your dog for a romp. (2) The Wellness Park has a ¼ mile loop for walking or jogging, 5 exercise stations, and four gardens including a meditation garden, healing garden, fragrance garden, and memorial garden.
Robolights: A two-acre art installation by Kenny Irwin and maintained by Kenny Irwin Jr. Private tours are currently unavailable due to COVID-19.
Araby Hiking Trail: This challenging hike gives the hiker great views of the Coachella Valley and you get to hike right past Bob Hope’s house.
Indian Canyon Nature Preserve: Just a 5 mile drive away. Includes a 60ft waterfall and short, beautiful trails for beginner hikers. Must purchase tickets.
The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens: The Living Desert is set on 1,200 acres, with 80 developed as zoo and desert botanical garden located in Palm Desert.
The Indian Wells Masters/BNP Paribas Open: An annual tennis tournament usually held in mid-March at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
Modernism Week: Tour Frank Sinatra's Twin Palms Estate, a Class 1 Historic Site.
Desert X: Tour this site-specific biennial exhibition where contemporary artists from different parts of the world are invited to make work in response to the unique conditions of the Coachella Valley.
