We enjoyed our stay at Horseshoe Lake Hideaway. Everything was very clean and tidy. The three separate buildings provided us with a lot of space but are close enough to still feel like part of the group.
It is clear that the owners take care of the property and pride in its beauty. They show a lot of attention to detail in both the aesthetic of the property and the little touches like leaving a tea cake for us. They left a basket of small toiletry items in case we forgot anything, fresh bottles of hand soap at the sinks, dish sponges in each kitchen, fresh bottles of bodywash in the bathrooms, and towels…so many soft towels!
The kitchen and grill area are well stocked. I only used my own knives. I couldn’t find an ice-cream scoop, but it could have been in another kitchen I didn’t get a chance to search. There are no containers with lids, so bring containers, Ziplocks, or saranwrap if you think you will have leftovers. We brought lots of drinking water; it is very expensive at the local grocery store, and we used it to cook as well as the water smelled like well water.
Coffee is ready! The owners left coffee, water for the pots, powdered creamer, and sugar in an adorable display in each kitchen.
The lake is beautiful with lots of small fish for catch and release. It is not great for swimming because the bottom is typical for inland Michigan lakes. However, we still swam.
Like another commenter said, one room is really bunkbeds in a large closet, but it does have its own
