We booked the house months on advance for a family get together based on the location of the property and number of rooms. The property is in the Hyde Park neighborhood which is also on the north end of Boise about two blocks from Camel’s Back park. Restaurants and shops are one block away. The Sinclair/Stinker store is behind the house so you will get some noise (not too bad) and plenty of traffic because of that.
It was very hot upstairs, but we were able to find a portable air conditioner and make it work; however, the one upstairs bedroom had no (zero) power outlets. We had to search for an extension cord to plug it in and cool off that one room.
The upstairs bathroom had an ant problem – which was evidenced by the can of Raid ant spray in one of the cabinets.
The carpet in the house was visibly dirty and worn.
The stairs are creaky and very loud. If anyone is sleeping, walking up or down the stairs will definitely wake them up.
The biggest issue of all was the smell when the air conditioner was running. It was very musty and smelled of cat pee. We got used to it, but once you leave the house and re-enter, you smell it all over again. I contacted the house management company and informed them. They were supposed to send someone over to investigate, but nothing happened.
Overall, the location was perfect, but the house was not. Would we spend time here again? No. We would also not recommend this property to others due to the odor.
