This house was originally built to serve the timber mill workers.
The A frame was added to the front in the 80's and it was used as a ski lodge when bus loads of skiers travelled down from Auckland.
Then I bought it as a base for my family close to the mountains. The Waimarino is my traditional turangawaewae, where my tribe belongs, and where I am from.
For many years it was a family holiday retreat, then I started letting the house out for the ski season when the school needed accommodation for skiing students.
I like to maintain a comfortable family atmosphere in the house. There are enough beds for a large family or two. Somewhere to relax and enjoy time together, playing, eating, and having fun.
