Build a beautiful resort village on a favorite Hatteras Island location, and they will come. The Cottages at the Cape are the closest rental units to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton. They share a long border with the national park and are literally steps from the beachfront. Bring the bikes, because Buxton’s unique shops, restaurants, and lighthouse are all very close. Forget the 4WD vehicle - those in the know have discovered that the three jetties to the east of the cottages produce some of the best fishing, surfing, and swimming on this island. Walking to the south will take you to open beaches, the famed Cape Point, and if luck is on your side during the summer, a few sea turtle nests (be careful to stay outside the barriers). This is a spacious two-bedroom condo with one-and-a-half baths and a large kitchen and living areas. The interior has been professionally-decorated with comfortable and fun beach décor. You'll have access to an outside shower and a patio. An escape to the cape never looked so good as at Cottages at the Cape.

* You will be required to sign an additional lease agreement upon making a booking which will be sent to your email. You will not be able to check in until we have received your signature electronically. Please contact us directly if you do not receive this agreement.
** Please note: Guests have access to the Club Hatteras Pool Facility. Additional details about this facility will be shared in your check-in email and during the check-in process. The club is typically open Mid-May to Mid-October, depending on the weather.

If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting ‘Yes’ to pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us. The pet fee is per stay and ranges between $150 and $200, depending on the bedroom count, and will apply for each additional dog.

Parking notes: There is free parking available for 2 vehicles.

Beach Vacation in Buxton

Our house we rented was in a culdesac very close to the ocean and we met friends and their dogs who were also staying in the same “village” it was Wonderful!!

Book this home!

This home was wonderful! The entire house was spotless when we arrived with all provided amenities fully stocked. The keyless entry/ check in was a breeze and made the process effortless. The WiFi was fast and there are TVs in each room and living room. The kitchen was fully stocked with cooking supplies. There were even a few games in the closet which was fun in the evening. The AC worked great the whole time which was awesome after a hot day. The proximity to the beach couldn’t be beat! The area is perfect for riding bikes which is so fun for the family! The area is quaint and perfect for a family getaway- there’s just enough to keep you busy but not so much that you feel pressured to “do it all” while you’re there. The neighborhood is SO QUIET! We absolutely loved sitting on either of the porches at night and listening to the waves. I can’t recommend this place enough! Will 100% be booking again!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed staying here for our one year wedding anniversary. Great location, super comfy beds, clean, and perfect for a trip with some doggos! A 30 second walk to the beach is an added bonus too!

Great location

The location was perfect and there was plenty of room for four adults and two dogs. Easily accessible and a short walk to the beach. We only had an issue with the front door lock so we had to use the back door the whole time. Not a big deal, but we couldn’t fully lock up the house while we were gone. Would absolutely come back again.

Wonderful property

This was an amazing stay. The proximity to the beach was wonderful, just a quick walk to the lighthouse. Our pup enjoyed it immensely. The bed was super comfy, kitchen well stocked with essentials, and most importantly super clean.

Do not stay here

The apartment smelled of mold and mildew as soon as you step inside. The carpets felt dirty and the furniture has stains on it. There were two roaches in the kitchen, and a bunch of dead bugs in window sills and in the entrance way. It is a quick walk to the beach but you cant swim or really sit on it due to debris in the water and on the beach.

Minimalist property

Love the location & price. Furnished with the bare minimum kitchen items & furniture. TV remotes didn't work right. Linens included 1 towel per person & 1 hand towel per bathroom, & 1 dish towel. We have stayed in three differ units there & it all three had the worst mattresses we have ever slept on. Must be cheapest on the market. You immediately roll into the sagging middle. Crate furniture, hard, no couch pillows, like sitting on a rock. These seem to be cookie cutter rentals, no personal touches at all. Doors in disrepair. Front lock stuck, called 3 times & never did get fixed. When we first got there were burrs all over the carpet. Found most of them with my feet. Will not rent one of these units again.

Location was amazing. Unfortunately the property was very dirty, the cleaning crew needs help. To have laundry on site is a plus when it works. The drier was broken, that sucked. The beds need updated. The furniture was out of the 70’s. 6pm check in is unacceptable you lose your first day of your vacation. The property needs a exterminator for the palmetto bugs/cockroaches.

Please do not stay here

If you are looking for a dirty and unkempt house, this is the place to stay! You can start your visit by pulling in and finding the door wide open, then as you walk in the front entrance you will be met by the smell of cigarettes and cleaner. And if you're wondering where the cigarette smell came from, you only need to look at the end tables - where there are still cigarette ashes. And if you are wanting to cook a home-cooked meal, you are in luck as there is one and only one working burner on the electric stove. And I hope you and your partner love to cuddle as both of the queen size beds are so old, you will immediately roll right into the center. It's great if both of you are into massages, because you will need a massage after sleeping in the bed. You won't want to sit in front of the tv all day as the sofa and chairs are so uncomfortable, you'll want to get outside and on the beach. You'll want to spend as much time as possible outside as all of the walls are white and there are about 3 wall hangings in the entire place- you kind of feel like you are in an asylum. And please stay here if you like to clean. You will have a chance to rewash all of the dishes, mop the floor so no one steps in the dried sticky mess that was left there. I've never been so disappointed in a rental - and my husband and I have stayed in places all over the country as we travel and work remotely. I can't believe how little pride is taken in their work and in their brand.

Nice stay

Went for a long weekend. Didn’t arrive until 11pm. Checkin process was easy even that late. Sand spurs were terrible in the yard but I don’t think anything can be done about that. Would stay again.

Good choice

This location was great for a family of surfers and beach walkers. Perfect size for family of 4. There was evidence of previous pets, but it was very well cleaned before we arrived. It was stocked with all essentials. Make sure that you dont arrive at real estate office until after 4pm, or you will wait. Dog friendly was a great convinience for us. Overall, basic but nice.

Great Location needs overall TLC seriously

Our stay was wonderful location is everything. It's a wonderful property, but it's very obvious that TLC and updates haven't happened in years. 1. The beds really are uncomfortable and extremely soft feel the springs! Not easy to sleep on. We had to sleep in different beds! Seriously not restful. This and a bad fall with broken ankle was the unhappy ending. When you update your property because the beds were the major things but there is so much more like cutting board is nasty, stained not something i would ever put my food on obviously mold growing in it. Toaster oven unsafe so old and it does not work correctly. Dishwasher not attached and screwed into counter falls forward! No silver ware utensil basket!

Nice house/Good Location

House can use some TLC, but overall nice property, and just minutes from beach. The houses in the development we stayed in were mostly pet friendly. The property grounds can use a lot of work. Can't walk your dog without them or us stepping in spurs. They have a playground as well that looks like it has not been kept up. Some of the white fences were knocked down and just laying there. Our house had issues with the doors locking. I also would recommend if the home is pet friendly that the entire house is tile/hardwood. Lots of pet stains on the carpet.

Buxton townhouse

Overall we had a nice time. The location is great and views from the property are nice. The front deck and covered porch were both pleasant and have nice partial ocean views. The biggest problem was cleanliness. The area over by the couch has a distinct urine smell and, most seriously, there were quite a few Palmetto bugs in the kitchen (that occasionally ventured out into the family room). This is kind of a deal breaker with us. Otherwise, this house would be a great value.

Location

The location was perfect - right by the beach, amazing views. Absolutely perfect. The house itself was fine - it is just in need in some overall updates. Rugs were very stained, blinds were broken, lots of dog hair which is great they allow pets ... it just needs some extra TLC but overall it is still a nice house and you can’t beat the price with that location. We had a blast.

Great vacation!

Great place, great nature, great little village! Unfortunately, museums, lighthouses and pools were close due to pandemic, but we still enjoyed our vacation at the Outer Banks. Being able to bring our dogs with was definitely a plus!
