You rented me a property that did not exist

Upon arrival, in the middle of a blizzard, four hours from home I was told that the prooerty was never intended to be rented.I was not permitted to check and was given no alternative accommodation.Completely inexcusable.

DON'T BOOK! NEVER AGAIN!

We booked this property and got multiple confirmation emails. I guess this property is in a gated community but none of the emails had directions for how to get past the gate so I called the host. He proceeded to tell me that particular property that we booked and paid for was not available and should not have been advertised. So I asked if he was saying we have no place to stay and he nonchalantly said "yes but just call and get your money back there are so many places you can stay in the Poconos". Mind you, it's 4th of July week/weekend and it's last minute. He mentions a possible available property he may have, tells me to hold on then hangs up. I haven't heard from him since. We do a live chat with VRBO customer service and Yoe R tells us we will be given a refund, a relocation and 2 nights free at a hotel but we have to call a number they provided. Luckily, I screenshot the conversation because once we called, the first lady who spoke to us, Nour, tried to tell us we get the hotel of our choosing for 2 free nights and that's all they cover. But we would have to pay upfront and they would reimburse us after the stay. This was considered the "refund/relocation". Once again our stay was supposed to be from July 2nd to July 7th. This was in no way equivalent to what we paid for. So after reading the messages verbatim she transferred us to another woman who gave us a choice between a refund in 2-5 days or a 2 day free hotel stay. We opted for the refund. Never again!
