Regular Hotel Room, But Needs Work

No need for communication before arrival since the property is a hotel. Issues were: 1 key never worked, despite attempts at re-coding; bedside light never worked but front desk said it was electrical, not a burned out bulb, and the building engineer couldn't do electrical; no coffee maker in room, but they delivered one when we reported it; slooooow elevators; friend lost her keys and has been calling the hotel for 3 days but nobody picks up. On the plus side, room was very large even with 2 queen beds, and the location was great for Broadway shows and dining.

Bad business all around

Checked in smoothly no issues. 13th floor room- elevator non operational, no problem there were stairs. Get into the room. It’s filthy, residual soap scum and product left over from prior tenant, go to pull a piece of toilet paper off to clean it myself the toilet paper handle falls off the wall and the only toilet paper roll in the room rolls right off onto the also dirty floor, okay no problem, no the biggest deal in the world, walk out of the bathroom to go turn the window ac unit on to find their is black mold all underneath the window wall. Spent a total of 60 mins calling every hotel in the area to book a new room somewhere else. Checked out of that place within the hour, informed the front desk of the room issues and requested a refund. They said they couldn’t because it was booked through 3rd party (Vrbo). Advised us to pursue refund through them, we said okay and left. Attempted to pursue refund through Vrbo, at which point Vrbo explained that the hotel denies any such claim was placed and therefore will not be refunding us. Please do not take your family to this place. It is bad business all around!!
