Welcome to this charming home, perfectly located directly between Lake Michigan beaches and downtown activities. This vacation getaway has all the amenities thoughtfully designed for comfort, convenience and relaxation ensuring a memorable stay for families and friends alike. We take pride in our personal attention to detail and cleanliness.

Nestled on a beautiful wooded lot, our Hidden Gem sits very close to the Rootbeer Barrel, Woosah Outdoor Coffee and a bike/walking path to Lake Michigan's pristine shores in one direction and the vibrant town of Douglas in the other. For sun-soaked days, Douglas and Oval Beach await, offering sandy strolls, sunshine, and refreshing breezes. After beachside delights, explore Douglas' charming downtown with its quaint shops and eateries or venture to downtown Saugatuck, boasting a waterfront boardwalk and diverse activities. The home is close to everything you want to do on the Art Coast of Saugatuck/Douglas but private enough to get away from it all.

Our “Hidden Gem” is a thoughtfully designed and comfortable 3 bed 2 full bath, 1900 square foot Craftsman Cottage style house. Be certain to read our reviews from our wonderful guests who really describe the Hidden Gem best.

The spacious open floor plan has stunning oak floors throughout the main living area. The well-appointed large kitchen is open to the huge dining area and living room with fireplace. The three season, screened in porch allows for plenty of downtime with privacy. The backyard has a huge new custom fire pit area, outdoor seating and grill. The front porch is perfect for sitting and enjoying your morning coffee. All bedrooms are on the main floor. The roomy master has a king bed with sitting area and an en suite bath with large jetted tub, walk in shower and large walk in closet. There are two lovely guest rooms with queen beds. The guest bathroom has a large vanity and a tub/shower combination. Hidden Gem is the perfect relaxing place to land after a fun day or the perfect place to hide out when you don't want to go anywhere!

Our goal is to provide a great guest experience. All bed and bath linens are clean, comfortable and high quality. There are ample amounts of paper products and cleaning supplies in the kitchens and bathrooms. We offer so much more than most including shampoo, conditioner, hair dryers, extra linens, room fans, yard games, indoor board games, beach chairs, beach towels, and cleaning products. We provide coffee and snacks. Also includes air conditioning, refrigerator, dishwasher, gas stove with oven, washer/dryer, cable, wifi, gas fireplace, and gas grill all for your use and enjoyment. . The kitchen is equipped with microwave, Cuisinart 12 cup coffee maker with single serve brewer, French press, Ninja blender, Crockpot, toaster, pots and pans, tea kettle, cocktail tools, serving trays and full kitchen utensils. Please do not hesitate to ask if you don't see it on the listing.

Beautiful Cottage and Great Location

We loved our stay at Hidden Gem. The property itself was well maintained, spotlessly clean, and so well stocked. The check in process was extremely smooth, and Renee, the manager, was very helpful and responsive. The cottage is right up the block from the Douglas Root Beer Barrel (a favorite of my husband and 6-year old son) and Outside Coffee, and a very short walk to downtown Douglas. We would absolutely stay again.

The property is CLEAN. I am super picky about where my family stays and this place is pristine. It is updated, beautiful, and cozy. Renee provided fresh strawberries and a sweet, personal note with suggestions specifically for our family. We have four children who are four and under. This was the perfect place for our family of six to stay. We walked to the Root Beer Barrel for ice cream. The beach was a little less than a mile each way—too far for small children to walk but perfect for a morning or evening walk for an adult or teen. There are a couple restaurants and a grocery store within walking distance as well. This location provides a fenced in back yard, a garage, outdoor area, grill, plenty of comfy and clean blankets, nice towels, comfortable beds. The neighborhood feels very safe and the community is friendly. Kitchen is well-furnished. Fridge has water and ice. There are no tvs in the bedrooms—not an issue for us but worth mentioning. We always pack white noise machines for sound. Parking at Douglas Beach is very limited and surrounded by private property, so get there early or walk there if you can. Holland is about 20 minutes away and we explored a couple playgrounds there. We would absolutely stay here again!

Hidden Gem - Douglas MI

Our stay was amazing! Renee is a wonderful host, and her home is beautiful. She left s’mores for our family and sweet toys for my two sons. We were able to walk to coffee and the root beer stand easily, and the walk to Douglas Beach was not far at all. It was nice to be able to make the quick 3 minute drive to downtown Saugatuck, but then return to our quiet home for a fire at night. We will be back!

Beautiful House & Great Location

The house was exactly as described and very clean. All of the furnishings and amenities were in great shape. The location is within 5 minutes of both downtown Douglas and Saugatuck. We even walked to the coffee shop nearby. Overall, a very well-managed property and we definitely plan to stay there again.

It’s all in the details

We have stayed at many rentals but never one with as much thoughtfulness as the Hidden Gem. Renee went above and beyond to think of everything you could need and even stocked the house with a few of our favorite beverages from local places. The house is clean and cozy with a great location to restaurants, beaches and adventure.

True Gem

We absolutely loved our week in Saugatuck at the Hidden Gem. The house is centrally located just off of Center Street between Douglas Beach and downtown Douglas. We were able to walk and ride bikes just about everywhere with our two young grandchildren. The house is immaculate and is well stocked with everything you could possibly need. The owner’s attention to detail is second to none. We will definitely be back! Thank you Renee!

Grandparents, daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandchildren under 5. Spacious, open and extremely comfortable. Everyone’s first time in the area and despite some unusual August rain our time was perfect! Fantastic owners/hosts. Good chance we’ll try again next year.

We stayed at the lovely Hidden Gem for a friend reunion trip and we were so pleased with every aspect of our stay. Not only was the house is accurately depicted in the listing - and it is stocked with everything you could need for a perfect Michigan vacation - but Renee went over and beyond as a host. The house was wonderful, the communication throughout was perfect from point of booking to checkout, and on top of that, Renee went out of her way to not only ensure we had everything we needed - from local recommendations to local strawberries and snacks waiting for us in the house. We had a fantastic stay, multiple times commenting “wow, this is probably the best rental experience we’ve ever had” - a sentiment shared across our group :) thank you for a wonderful vacation, Renee and Hidden Gem! Fantastic House!

Siblings and spouses from all over the country met at the Hidden Gem. We had a great time! The area is beautiful! The house was beyond comfortable. Plenty of room for 6, and equipped with everything you would want and more. The brand new Fire Pit and dining area was awesome! We all definitely recommend this! Thank you Renee, you were so kind.

Peaceful retreat

My families stay at the hidden gem was more than we hoped for! The cleanliness and organization of the house was impeccable. Renee was the nicest and most professional host we have ever had. We had our two children age 11 and 9 with us and we’re very comfortable with plenty of space. The house had everything we needed and more. The location was perfect- we got coffee from Woosah every morning and we’re so close to downtown Douglas and Saugatuck. Highly recommend!!!

Truly a Hidden Gem!

We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at Hidden Gem! Located in Douglas, it’s a short drive to the surrounding towns - Saugatuck and Fennville, and an easy walk to downtown Douglas. We spent our days exploring, shopping, walking and enjoying local restaurants. Our family enjoyed the new fire pit and outdoor games that were available at the house. Renee thought of everything and was so helpful giving us ideas of thing to do based on our interests. The house is beautiful and has all the amenities you could want on vacation. We will definitely be back!

Hidden Gem lives up to its name!

We loved this house so much that my mom now wants to build a house with the same layout. Every single thing about our stay was marvelous. The house was neat as a pin and smelled so clean. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom towels were soft, and soaps were nice. The property owner/manager (Renee) was accommodating and a great communicator. The location is ideal - very quiet and serene yet close to everything - beaches, galleries, restaurants, and the like. We will definitely be back!

The Best Near Douglas and Oval Beaches

We couldn't have been happier with this rental! The home's layout was perfect for us, couple staying with children plus our friend. The location is amazing, walking distance to the root beer barrel and woosah coffee. This home contained everything you could possibly need or want, in exactly the place you'd look for it as if in your own home, but wasn't cluttered or overdone in any way. It was very nice of them to include bathroom amenities like make-up remover, in addition to sunscreen, snacks, and umbrellas. We loved playing the outdoor games; they were great. Landscaping was amazing, and the decor was really cute. And it was exceptionally clean. All questions to the owner were answered promptly and with genuine care. We would happily stay here again and recommend it without hesitation.

Douglas, MI - Hidden Gem

Our family has vacationed in Douglas/Saugatuck 9 or 10 times over the past 15 years. We have used VRBO every time and this is the best place we've ever stayed. Beautiful, comfortable home close to the Root Beer Barrel. The screened porch and fire pit were favorite spots to just hang out and relax. Six of us shared the house and it didn't feel cramped. I'm an old carpenter and I told my family I want to find a lot back home and build this house on it. That's how much we loved it.

Spectacular Property in a Great Location

The property was as advertised and amazing. Clean and stocked with all the beach towels and kitchen / grill equipment for home cooked meals. There was plenty of space for our group of 6 whether that was on the front porch, using the screened in back porch, or the outdoor area by the grill and fire pit. We walked to get coffee just at the end of the street each morning, a 15 minute walk to Douglas beach, and just a short drive to Oval beach and the restaurants and shops of both Douglas and Saugatuck. Renee was amazing with communication and coordination for check in and out, and she even left some local fresh blueberries for the kids. We would 100% stay here again.

Beautiful & Relaxing

This home in Douglas, MI was absolutely perfect! The beds were comfortable, the house was impeccably clean and well stocked with everything you could possibly need. Contact with the owner was great and responses were quick. The screened in porch was our go to spot in the morning for coffee, we had one rainy/chilly day and the gas fireplace was wonderful to sit by and read a book. My boys kept asking to stay a couple more days and look forward to coming back to this house again. Everything was better than advertised!

The Hidden Gem was great place to stay! The home is well equipped with items for the kitchen (including spices) to gear for the beach. Smart TV with apps - good wifi. Nice outdoor area, firepit for smores, and a gas grill. Great location. 1 min walk to the root beer barrel and for morning coffee. Nice walking trails around. Douglas beach is a short drive away. The place is walking distance to attractions, yet feels secluded at the same time. The host couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful. She even dropped off some personalized items for my wife and daughter. Our stay really exceeded my expectations and I look forward to coming back next year!

Wonderful stay at Hidden Gem

We had an absolutely wonderful experience staying at this lovely home! The owner Renee was just amazing to communicate with from check-in to check-out. She arranged special touches for our stay, such as fresh flowers, farmers market blueberries, special treats and plenty of tourist brochures to help us plan our activities during our stay. The home is beautiful, spotless, well-appointed and fully stocked with everything we needed. We especially appreciated the high-quality bedding, towels, kitchen dishes and more. The sunroom was our favorite spot to enjoy morning coffee. Can’t say enough about how warm and inviting the whole home is. Location was great as well, close to beaches and restaurants. We absolutely enjoyed our experience and will be sure to stay again next time we are in the area. Thanks again Renee, you are a great Host!

Perfect location, impeccable home

We absolutely loved our stay at Hidden Gem! This is one of those thoughtfully arranged houses where anything you need is exactly where you'd want it. Need a coaster? Right where you want to place your drink. Have sandy beach towels? Hang them on the garage rack. Ice cream scoop? Multiple coffee making options? Cozy blanket? All right there and in excellent condition. You also can't beat the location: walking distance to great coffee and Douglas Beach, and a short drive to anything you could want. Renee was so welcoming, has created a lovely home, and gave us wonderful personalized recommendations of activities and restaurants. We would happily return for our next trip to the area!

Thank you for considering our "Hidden Gem". My husband and I both grew up in the midwest and love the outdoors and nature. We came to the West coast of Michigan over 20 years ago because of all there is to do here. Although we have travelled all over the world, we can't get ourselves to leave and still love it more each day. Our favorite things to do are boating, golf and paddle boarding. We hope you fall in love with our beautiful area and friendly community just as we have.

Brand new listing, previously owner occupied; meticulously cared for and maintained; near everything beautiful Lake Michigan has to offer. So close to all the great restaurants, sights and shopping, yet away from it all!

Walk to downtown Douglas or Saugatuck. Extremely close to the famous Root Beer Barrel(seasonal), Woosah Outside Coffee and The Farm House Deli.
