Bay View Retro Retreat

This mid century gem is located in Bay View, one of Milwaukee's most coveted neighborhoods. Built in 1960, this duplex is one the areas most unique & recognizable homes. Only minutes away from MKE airport & downtown, it is the perfect spot for visitors to retreat to after a day of exploring. The location offers easy parking & transit options, and is full of amenities to make your stay as comfortable as possible. This home truly is the perfect place to enjoy exploring Milwaukee to its fullest. We just added central air conditioning 6/1/2023

The space:

This home is a duplex. Both owners and guests share a front door, and once inside, there is a vestibule where both units are accessed. Rental unit is the west unit, and owners of property live in east unit. Only one small wall is shared, which keeps sound at bay, and there is no worrying about hearing footsteps. The owners do have two dogs, and they frequent the backyard area. However, guests will soley use front doors (except for emergency egress and laundry), and owners and dogs will use rear doors. Laundry facilities are located in basement, available for guests staying 3 nights or more. Separate washing machines are provided, but the dryer is a shared machine. Two bedrooms are located at the far west end of the home, both furnished with queen beds and large closets and windows. Central heat and air conditioning. Newer windows.

Guest access:

Guests will access home from front door only unless for laundry or emergency egress purposes. Owners who reside next door (plus 2 dogs) will use rear doors and are the only ones with access to the backyard. This is for everyones safety. Laundry facilities are in the basement, and available upon request for stays longer than 3 nights. The house manual gives more details on the facilities. Again, this is a duplex, so guests have access to the west unit which is a 2 bedroom / 1 bath unit, accessible through the front door and vestibule.

This mid century modern duplex is great!

Having never been to Milwaukee, we found the location to be perfect for the wedding we attended at Discovery World, and just a short drive to The Third Ward, where we found many great restaurants. We also loved the local Coffee Shop (Anodyne Coffee), which we frequented at least four times. The duplex was stylish and immaculate. The hosts were very helpful and although we only met up once, so very nice. Chris left us some home grown tomatoes on our porch which were delicious. So much better than any hotel!! Loved the coffee and coffee maker. A perfect start for us every day. The beds were great and the bathroom had lovely bath accessories.

Nice stay

If you like to sleep cold, you might want to bring a fan. We got a little warm and they helped accommodate. Overall 5/5 great stay, clean, nice location, and felt safe.

Irish Fair Getaway

This house was absolutely perfect for our get a way to the Milwaukee Irish Fair. Close to so many cool things. The house itself was the best, vintage decorating and in a cute quiet neighborhood! Hope its available next year when we return

Charming home in a perfect location

Stayed May 17-21. Loved the neighborhood vibe and the location was perfect for our trips to Marquette University, Riverside Theater, and various farmer's markets. Also loved all the thoughtful touches that made us feel so welcome.

Nice place, very clean

We stayed here over Memorial Day, 2024. The place is exactly as advertised: very clean, comfortable and well-maintained. Easy check-in and checkout. Communication from the property owner was very clear.

Perfect home base

I needed a place to stay during a stint of night shifts at ASLMC. This property was close enough to be an easy commute to the hospital and far enough away from heavily traveled roads to be quiet and relaxing. Parking and entry was very easy and the interior was clean and functional for my needs. An excellent spot to unwind after a busy day.

Cute, well kept house -

Girls weekend with my aunt from out of state - we loved the step back in time with the décor and the amenities. Had a small issue with Wifi that the owners fixed quickly. Highly recommend.

Charming MCM Home Close To Everything

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was super clean and really thoughtfully designed and furnished. We loved the many MCM touches. The house was also conveniently located to all we wanted to do. It was a super quick drive to downtown Milwaukee, made for an easy day excursion to Madison, and the Bay View area itself was hip and happening! We would highly recommend this place to others.

60’s House

The house was extremely clean. Even with two dogs next door it was very quiet except for some traffic noise. It was furnished in 60’s decor which was nostalgic since we both grew up in the 60’s. The owners provided any items that you might need to make your stay comfortable.

Hidden Gem

Love the vintage vibe of this home - and the coffee airplane-station was a very cool detail. One of the best stocked VRBOs we’ve ever stayed in. Exceptionally clean with extremely comfy beds. Safe and quiet neighborhood. Will be coming back!

Thoughtful Hospitality

I was incredibly impressed by all of the thoughtful touches in the unit, particularly in the bathroom, where there was every type of toiletry or grooming need available. The decor was inviting and charming, and every need was anticipated to make for a comfortable stay.

Cozy and cute

Great house. Great, responsive hosts. Thank you for the razors in the bathroom and all the wonderful bathrrom amenities.. The attention to detail overall really - ear plugs and lavender pillow mist next to each of the beds. Only complaint- we opened the windows because it was nice and cool in the evenings and the airport noise and street traffic were pretty loud in that front bedroom - appreciated the ear plugs after the first night. Would absolutely stay again when we come back to town!

This was literally the cutest, cleanest, coziest space I have ever stayed at! The decor and overall vibe of the space was sensational. Just make sure you are aware of their AC policy before you book. We kept the AC at the requested 72 degrees. It did get a little warm in the bedroom but it wasn’t anything that negativity impacted our stay. I didnt actually meet the hosts but they were awesome at clearly communicating any info we needed, such as the quirky parking situation in the city. TLDR: 10/10 would stay here again! Thanks for the amazing place to crash during our trip!

Nice retro place!

We loved this place, our only complaint was the air conditioner. It always turned off in the middle of the night and my husband would have to get up to turn it back on when we got overheated. Would definitely stay again.

Comfortable and CLEAN!

My husband and I enjoyed our brief stay at this VRBO in a outskirt town of downtown Milwaukee. It was easy for us to park our car rental outside, the place was very clean when we arrived, the neighborhood was quiet and so were the owners of the properties dogs. The beds were also very comfortable as well! All in all we had a great stay and if we come back to Milwaukee, we would stay here again without hesitation. One note - Copper Kitchen was our breakfast place while we were there. I suggest comparing it to the suggestions the property owners left if you're looking for an easy, typical but good diner food place.

We love the unique MCM design of the home, its so unique and honestly one of the most recognizable homes in the neighborhood. The ranch style also lends itself to added privacy and convenience as you're not lugging your stuff up stairs, or having folks walking around above you at night. Truly a relaxing, retro, retreat in the heart of one of Milwaukee's most coveted neighborhoods-Bay View, tons of fantastic restaurants, bars, and attractions nearby, very close to the airport, train and bus stations for ease of travel.
