Disappointing stay!

While driving 7 hours and still on the road, the host called to say she would like to move us to another property she had, that was 3 bedrooms but only 1 bathroom. We reluctantly agreed; however in the end, 5 adults was tight with 1 bathroom. After driving for 9 hours, we arrived 4 hours after check-in and were told the place was not ready, and could we wait another 20 minutes before checking in. It was frustrating after the long day of travel, but we felt we had no choice at that point, as it was getting later in the day. The place however, was not ready for renters, with no towels available, no cutlery, no extra tissue in the washroom, and no TV. The host was accommodating with our requests; however, it was frustrating to have to deal with this. We were also told that we would not receive any money back (because of only 1 bathroom, when we had paid for 2) as the new place was a brand new renovation. We will not rent from this host again.

Terrible experience

Booked this place in March. Now it is August and we are requesting check in information. Owner is unresponsive and to put the icing on the cake cancels our reservation the day that we plan to arrive. Vrbo not helpful. The only upside is a full refund.

Horrible Experience

I had been emailing with the owner on Wednesday, July 5 and we arranged that the owner would meet us at the property at 3:00 on Friday, July 7. We got there about 2:50 and had to knock and and knock on the only door we could see. It turned out to be a renter of the main floor of the property. He directed us around the corner to the basement suite. It looked horrible. The grass was full of weeds, there was garbage around the door area and a mattress leaned up against the wall. I knocked and knocked again with no answer. I then emailed the owner to see when they would be there. Within two minutes I got an email from VRBO saying that my rental had been cancelled and I was being fully credited. I then heard back from the owner who apologized and said that their cleaner hadn't shown up so they couldn't rent to us! We were now left at 3:15 on a summer weekend in Vancouver with no where to stay. We had to be out in Richmond to pick up another relative from the airport so we couldn't even take the time to search out another rental. This was a very stressful experience and a horrible start to which was going to be a wonderful weekend spent with friends and family. We had to call around to find a friend that could put us all up for the weekend. I feel that as an owner there should be a contingency in place if your cleaner doesn't show up. I'm going to have a really hard time trusting any future rentals I may do with VRBO owners. I would NOT recommend this property to anyone!!!!

Bad experience

This was by far the worst place we stayed. It wasn’t stocked with enough supplies. It didn’t have a parking space. And the biggest inconvenience was that it wasn’t mentioned on the website that it’s a basement and part of the house with the owner living.
