Our Favorite get-away is a...Cool...Cozy...Beautiful, family-friendly, A-frame cabin located off-the-grid on Stoneman Lake Road in Happy Jack, AZ. What does off-grid mean, you might ask? It means no wifi, no electricity (solar only), no running water (well only so conserve it or you might run out)! Just you and the great outdoors!
Easy access location, just 90 minutes north of Phoenix to escape the heat. This cozy cabin has brand new refrigeration and gas stove/range. Rest well on new memory foam mattresses in each room. The warm wood fireplace provides ample heat for the whole cabin, however there are also wall units to provide more comfort, if needed. Soak in the antique claw foot tub overlooking the lake. Day trips to the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Bearzona, Snowbowl Chairlift, Sunset Crater, Meteor Crater, Lowell Observatory and Flagstaff Extreme Obstacle Course are among many fun activities to do. Bring your inflatable rafts or kayaks to enjoy Stoneman Lake for the first time in decades! Our winter 2022 was rough, but the summer lake it left is undoubtedly the reward! Return to the quiet cabin and prepare dinner in the kitchen or on the propane BBQ grill on the expansive deck. Enjoy starlight evenings and create your own long lasting family memories. You won't be disappointed with the amenities, location and temperature. There is a strict No Smoking policy on the property. This included cigarette’s, cigars, and all open fires, etc.

A few things to be prepared for:

Some things you should know before your stay:-The wifi is only strong enough for the TV and one phone. I could only make a call on the patio and texts were spotty. If you are needing to work, this isn't a good fit.-The house is powered by solar. We had a cloudy day and the power went out while making dinner. We didn't realize it was solar, but luckily found the generator which is powered by propane. (Propane was full and worked great.)-The water is pumped in so you'll want to conserve if you have a large party. When we arrived we experienced brown water in the toilet and sinks, but once we met the water guy pumping water the next day, he gave us a heads up that it was normal and needed to cycle through. -This cabin only sleeps 8 (not 10 as advertised unless you sleep on the couch and loveseat which are not pull-outs) and there is no room for air mattresses in the other rooms/loft. The upstairs loft has the two twins (not the queen as advertised) with just a small walk space between the beds. The upstairs room with the queen did not have a door or wall heater. Ultimately we had to un-invite the grandparents because there wasn't the 10 sleeping spaces as advertised.-All storage spaces are marked "Not For Rental Use" with the owner's belongings, so don't expect to unpack food or clothes. -Theres no trash service so you have to take all your trash with you.Our trip was different than expected, but we made the best of it once we figured a these things out.

A new experience for our hunting trip.

The cabin was a great place to get back to after a long day of hunting. It was nice, to get back and relax. The cabin had everything my family and I needed to enjoy our stay. We would definitely rent here again.

Relaxing Treehouse Cabin

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our week stay at the Treehouse. It sits high in the trees, with a beautiful view of Stoneman Lake. With ample room and cute cabin accessories, it was a great unplugged experience. Great outdoor deck, plenty of outdoor chairs, BBQ grill, with fantastic showers! Our furry friends rate it A+.

Exactly whats advertised- beautiful cabin!

What an amazing property! It was just what we needed to get out of the warm weather and enjoy nature. The owner was so nice and responsive. The hummingbird feeders were awesome, the hummingbirds were around all the time. Also very dog friendly. The only downside is there is no where to dump trash for 20 plus miles and we have pups so we had to drive with doggy bag smell til we could get to trash. Obviously this has to do with location not the home or owner.

I am an AZ native who has been tent camping in Happy Jack for 40 years. My parents growing up always said, “what a life goal to own a cabin on Stoneman Lake. Until then, we swim and fish in it!” Years later, we made the dream come true and here we are. Blessed to sit on the wrap-around porch and hear the turkeys cross the bowl. Blessed to see the amazing sunsets. Blessed to understand how to conserve water from the well (or run out until it refills) and solar from the beautiful sun passing over! This little community knows everyone and is so welcoming if you treat it right! Just a bunch of nature lovin’, wilderness consciousness people striving to take care of one another!

Everyone knows everyone and friendliest stick to friendliest! We all have the same goal- be respectful of nature and each other… look out for your neighbors and we all take care of one another. But if you like city, loud music, or are just an a*^-hole, better avoid this property. We mean that with all the love.
