4th floor walk up
The location is great—close to Broadway and subway and food and shopping. But this is a classic small NYC apartment. And you have to walk up 4 flights of stairs to get to it. There were two of us in a small bedroom, so saying it sleeps 6 is a stretch. There is one small bathroom with old fixtures. The fridge has no icemaker and had no ice cube trays (it does after we bought and left some). We had to ask for extra trash bags and paper towels and a dish rag. We had one small bath towel each. There is no dishwasher which is fine but without a dish towel or a drying rack, it is not easy to wash and dry dishes. Again, this is a classic small apartment in NYC so we did not expect fancy appliances. But we did not expect to have to ask for the basic things needed to do dishes and wipe off surfaces. Communication about access to the apartment in advance was slow.
