We stayed here as a family with two boys, ages 6 and 10. We got really lucky with the weather in early November, getting to eat every meal outside. We visited Taum Sauk (hiked Mina Sauk Falls trail), Elephant Rocks State Park, Johnson's Shut-Ins (we had fun wading and rock jumping even in November), and Millstream Gardens Conservation Area (hiked Tieman Shut-ins trail and rock jumped there as well). Our favorite restaurant was definitely Iron Mule, where we ate twice. We also liked the soap store in downtown Ironton (my 6yo used his bath bomb at the house after our long hike yesterday!).
My family really enjoyed the creek and fire pit. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed. Now that my boys are older, we REALLY appreciate the twin bed idea in a kid room when we stay away from home. They like having their own beds but the comfort of each other. We'd definitely stay here again!
