I stayed there for five days. It wa difficult to find the hotel the first day, the breakfast at the hotel was supposed to be buffet from 8-10am but once I got there at 9 and didn't see enough food left, I got five slices of bread but the hotel staff came to tell me that I got too much and maximum number of bread is 4 for one person, it didn't make me feel too happy but the good things where I got one day free wifi (you should pay to use the wifi) and since the hotel was not busy the last day they let me stay 2 extra hours.

A Pleasant Surprise!

I needed a cheap place to stay and took a chance on the Gulf Star Hotel. I made the right move! It’s situated one block from the main road and about 15 minutes walk from the Metro. The outside of the building is a bit lacking but everything inside is new. The rooms are quite large, clean and bright albeit with gaudy decor. Lots of TV channels and high speed internet which although cost me 15 dirhams per day was a fair price. The staff are friendly and attentive. All in all I would say the Gulf Star is the best deal in Dubai! Incidentally the other advantage was that I could book the room on Hotels.com and pay cash on arrival. This was particularly convenient as my credit card was maxed at the time and it made it possible to take advantage of the special price offered by Hotels.com which was a much better deal than if I booked with the hotel direct.
